One step closer to Hardwood Floors.

Hubby was coming in the living room with a can of diet coke (blah). I told him that I bought him a 2 liter, so why was he drinking one of the ones he brings hunting. I guess he got excited and dropped the can. It sprayed all over. Even up the wall.
I don't know why but I laughed. I couldn't help it.
Maybe its because this is just one step closer to my hardwood floors I want :)

Well I was surfing the net today I found some videos of my nieces. I was so happy, I wanted to cry. I haven't seen them for years. They live in a different province. When we go there I always try and see them. My ex-SIL either doesn't answer the phone or makes excuses why I can't come by. One time I just showed up, I did get to see them that time. Ever since she got remarried it has been worse.
I phone them on their birthdays, it may take me 3 days, but I usually get a hold of them. I send them (and her children from her new husband) gifts for Christmas. But I never get a reply.
I think my ex-sister-in-law wants to pretend this side of the girls family doesn't exist. That includes my brother (the girls father). I 'm not sure what she is afraid of.
It upsets me that she will let the girls share their lives with total strangers on the net, but not with their family.
We may be an odd bunch, but she is taking a wonderful family that love these girls immensely away from them.
You know I wasn't going to write about this, just in case they found my blog somehow, but it just flowed out. Life isn't perfect.

Hope your Monday was a creative and happy one.

Tracy

  2. Oh, dear! That is quite the spill, but yes, I would have probably laughed, too! What else can you do when stuff like that happens?! I'm sorry to hear that you are kept from your own family! That is so hard!

  4. I want a new kitchen floor, so I understand your attitude! I'd also like a new refrigerator, but mine just keeps running. Family is always a challenge. Good for you to keep trying!

  5. Bummer about your nieces. Maybe once they're old enough to do their own thing, they can visit you. I have a HUGE coffee stain on my carpet. It happened quite early on in the carpets life, so I just bought a huge rug to cover it up. Someday, I'll have hardwood floors, too!!

  6. Wow! That's quite the stain! I hope it doesn't come out, I mean that in the best possible way! Lol! Sometimes family just sucks, doesn't it? It would be nice if we could choose our family like we do the blogs we follow! Sending positive thoughts up north to you!!!

  7. I hope that you get your floors too! They are so worth the investment.
Sorry to hear about your xSIL. Its so sad for the kids sake. Maybe when they are older you will be able to contact them directly and have more of a relationship.

  8. I had to laugh when I saw this, I am always dropping my can of pop, it goes everywhere and is miserable to clean up. Maybe if you let that sit for a bit it will stain nicely. Orange pop works great for wrecking carpets. I'm sorry you don't get to see your nieces, my brother just went through a split as well and she took their son with her.

  9. Divorces are so hard but I think it should never impact the children. Family is so important, especially to kids. Looks like hardwood floors are in your future. :)

  10. I really hope you get your hardwood floors. I love them!

So sorry about your family situation. I hope your nieces know how much you have tried to reach out to them and love them. Every family has some dysfunction in them. As I say, "Let's put the fun in dysfunctional!":-P

  11. Hey long lost sister!!! lol ;) Those hardwood floors will look awesome some day, just keep spillin the soda and you'll get them before ya know it!

I'm so sorry that your ex-SIL makes it hard for you to keep in touch with your neices. Divorce is so hard on all involved, and alot of times, the adults don't realize they are doing their children an injustice by keeping them from family. Hopefully as they get older, they will reach out to you on their own.

  13. Your ex SIL is a twit for shielding her daughters from what could be a wonderful relationship with their aunt. You are so sweet to send them gifts and call them, even though it all goes unacknowledged. Poop for her!

P.S. Go with hardwood, yes! We recently did our kitchen/dining area and living room in all hardwood - and we LOVE it!! Carpet is the devil!
