I coloured

Today I spent the day working. Not only is it month end it is also year end. So work, work, work.
"the company" did good this year, so we are going to celebrate by all of us going out for another company dinner :) But before that I have to work all week. And when I work, because I work out of my home, I don't stop until its done. I start early and work late into the night.

But I did get some down time and did a bit of colouring. I was going to do a video today. But now that I know how to edit, I take forever to get it perfect, lol.
Isn't this image so cute. I was thinking of popping up a large cupcake in front of her for a birthday card.

Here is a close up. I don't have copic's or Stampin' Up! markers, so I have been colouring with Sharpie and Bic markers. The only problem with those is that the colours are very dark, and no flesh colours. So I didn't colour in her skin, unless I wanted her to look like me. Yup I am that white, lol.
One other thing with the sharpies is that they seem to bleed.

Tomorrow Kristy's holiday's are over:( Back to school for her.
Ashley has one more day off of work. Wayne was only suppose to have tomorrow off but he is taking the rest of the week off.

Hope your Sunday was a creative one.

  2. Hey! It looks great!
Just thought I'd recommend trying (on an acrylic block) to place a spot of the marker and using alcohol blending solution with a brush after. It helps create lighter shades and it works really nicely! I'm into art a lot, and copics are not in my budget at all (LOL) I'm trying ways to get good results. And loved this! :)
There's also Touch Makers. A pack of 12 is kinda pricey (only have one and was $35.00) but boy do I love them. Just like copics (no refill option) and they sell them in Deserres art stores in Canada. :D Also recommend! I've been doing skin with one of them and using the method I did made it lighter and then used my markers to retouch where the skin would be darker.
Just thought of metioning this. XDD Hope that's okay. But it did turn out really nice!

  11. Nice coloring. I don't have any of the copic markers either. I use a lot of colored pencils, I like how easy they are for shading :0)

  13. She's cute. I can't believe you used sharpies... it turned out great. I only have 4, wait, make that 6 copic markers, but I actually prefer to color with alcohol inks. I put a little drop in a paint palette add some water and paint. I have an entire set of Dr. Marten's dyes from art school, they last forever.

  14. You did a nice job on this Tracy. I don't have copics either so I used colored pencils and paint thinner. It makes it look like watercolor afterwards. Go to Jennifer McGuire's blog, she shows you how but she uses gamsil. It is paint thinner. Lots of cool techniques on her videos.

  15. This looks great. Have you tried colored pencils and mineral spirits? They work well also.

  16. This looks awesome! I've never been able to color like this. my colors start to run together or bleed a little or even get too layered and look messy.
