It's Turkey Day :)

It is Thanksgiving Day
or Turkey Day as my daughters like to call it :)
I had the family over for turkey dinner.
If you are impressed by my turkey photo...don't be, I got it off the net, lol.
Now if you have been a follower of my blog, then you know I am not a big fan of cooking.....eating, yes, baking ya OK, but cooking not so much.
I wish I did love to cook. In my fantasy I am a great cook, with a passion for the craft. But then reality sets in and well I wake up.
So you may wonder why "I" have the big turkey dinner.
Fact of the matter is, I like to have my family around. I enjoy seeing them. And if I have to throw a meal down their throats to get them here, then so be it.

But to help me with the big family dinner, I am going to let you in on a little secret.
I use a frozen stuffed turkey. Gasp.
I also use frozen or boxed stuffing and canned cranberries. Are you cringing at the thought?
No worries, my family loves it :)   Every year the gush about my cooking...maybe its just the blueberry cheesecake I serve after the meal? lol.

Being that it is Thanksgiving I am going to make today my Thankful Monday.

1. Being with my family. Even though sometimes they drive me crazy, I love these people with all my heart.
2. Easy cook turkey's ;)
3. Daughters who help clean up up after a big meal ;)
4. New episodes of House

What are you thankful for today?

Tracy

  2. Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm thankful for feeling creative and making things. I'm thankful for the rain we got this weekend which we needed so much. For my husband and his clam chowder =)

  3. It's turkey day here too. Kirsten, Tim and the kids were here and a couple of friends. Wish my turkey looked like the one you posted. But it tasted pretty good!
I checked out Ashley's photo blog today and she is a talented one young gal.
Happy turkey day to you and your family.

  6. I WAS really impressed by your photo, but I just assumed Ashley took it. Lol! I'm glad you had a great Thanksgiving. I don't mind cooking, but not on a large scale like that. If I could get away with a frozen turkey I would, that's where Mike comes in. He LOVES to cook! Yea me! I love how you threw the new episode of House in there on your thankful list :)

  9. I used to go out of my way to cook glorious meals for my family. Discriminating tastes of certain almost 4 and 6yr old have made me just make what they eat and not fuss. I enjoy cooking much more now. We have certain things on certain nights just because repetition is easier.

I am thankful for the new medication my son is on. He is calm but his awesome little personality is back. My daughter being so stinking cute because it's going to get her out of a lot of trouble later on, probably into it as well. Great internet friends and lately I've been very greatful for coffee lol.

    Happy Thanksgiving Tracy!

  13. Ha...Tracy, I'm with ya on the whole not liking to cook thing. You are brave, even if the turkey was frozen and cranberries from a can, at least you did it.I'm too scared and if Thanksgiving were left in my hands, I'd probably break down and have it catered!! ;)

  14. I am thankful that I love to cook and bake. It is another creative outlet for me. I am also thankful everyday for the wonderul dh who works so hard so that I can stay at home to be creative. In the kitchen and the craft room.

  16. Happy Thanksgiving! You are totally right, its about spending time with your loved ones, not about spending time in the kitchen!

I'm thankful that I got to spend the whole weekend with my parents in New York, and that my wonderful boyfriend picked me up at the airport, and had a glass of wine waiting for me when we got home!
