Making my own distress tools

First I want to thank everyone who commented on my Night of the Living Dead - Zombie mini album from yesterday. If you haven't seen it, you really should go and check it out ;)
I am happy to report that I received an email from Theresa saying that not only did she love it, but so did her husband. And you know how hard it is to get men excited about our craft, lol.

You know how I love my distress inks?
Well I did get an order of a few (teehee) more.
I usually use a wedged make up sponge with my inks. I only have two distress tools and they are pricey. So I figured a way to make my own.

I am also converting my wooden blocked stamps to easy mount.
So this is a perfect way to use up the wooden blocks :)

Spent most of my day catching up on my book work.
Stayed home, hiding out. I don't want to go out in public with my deformed face, lol.
It was suppose to be banking and grocery day, but hopefully I will look better to face the public tomorrow :).

Hope you all had a creative Wednesday.
My blog is still acting up. I can't see what I type until it gets to the next line?

Tracy :)

  1. Glad we can't see that cold sore on the video! Lol! Hope it goes away soon and you're able to get back to civilization, this cold has really been a doozy! Girl, you are so smart! I love that you came up with your own way to make those tools! Genius!

  3. You are one smart cookie!!!!
I am not so well organized. I just use one applicator for greens, one for blues, one for browns, etc. I don't mind if the colours are all mushed together. . I usually use more than one colour at a time.
But I do highly recommend Wayne takes his staple gun and staple the velcro on the wood blocks. Then the velcro will stay put, no matter what.

  4. I'm not having too much of a problem with blogger but it is taking extra long to load. Maybe you got a virus on your computer as well as your lip :/ LOL! I crack myself up. Thank you for your sweet comments about my card. I can't wait for you to see yours. I started it in October but it kept getting pushed aside for regular boring life and birthday parties. You are going to LOVE it!
I do use the handles on my tools but I just switch my pads out. I have them attached underneath my inkpads with velcro. I did notice that my velcro on the TH tools is coming off of the block so I will replace it with heavy duty sticky velcro like you used.
Oh and I'm so happy to hear that Theresa loved your mini, I mean really, how could she not?! Rambling again sorry LOL.

  5. I LOVE this idea. I have purchased several of the applicators but I also can't see buying one for every color. It's just not going to happen. But your idea is awesome! :) I don't have a big handsome guy to saw blocks for me (and I don't have the tools anyway) so I will just look for smaller stamps that wouldn't need to be cut. Thanks for sharing this super cool idea!

  6. Love this idea! I only have 3 distress inks, so I don't have this problem yet -- but I'm with you, I don't like taking off the foam from the block either. Maybe if I start now, and make them as I go, I can accomplish the same goal. I love organizing! Thanks for sharing. :-)

  11. Tracy - Ugh, cold sores! I used to get them all the time! Especially when stressed or coming down with a bad cold. I started using Abreva and I haven't had one in ages! (Hope it stays that way)

Your zombie album is so creative!

  12. That is such a great idea! Cold sores...ugh. I get them too. They are not fun. I haven't had one for a while. (knock on wood). I don't know what you use but abreva works, and my mother swears by lemon balm, if you want to try something natural. I have yet to try it as I haven't had a cold sore in a while.
