Chameleon Marker Review

I was able to play a bit with my new Chameleon markers this past weekend.

And if you know me, then you know I don't really play with my art supplies.
When I get something new, I try my hand at a project and expect it to come out right the first time, lol.

How did I like the outcome of these markers.
Well let me first tell you that I am spoiled by using Copics.
These are not Copics, nor do they claim to be.

As you can see (sorry for the blurry photo, but that is as close as I could get with my iPhone) they don't blend as well as my Copics.
But then again, this is my first try with them, and there is probably a learning curve.
I don't like that you can see the colour lines as the colour changes…but then again, remember, this is my first time using them.
I have not tried skin tones yet, so we will see how that goes.

What I do like about them is that there is only 20 colours and I don't need to take all of my 300+ Copics  to camp if I want to do some colouring.
They will be good to use in my planner or fauxbonichi journal, as I don't need my coloured images to be perfect in those.

The difference between these and other alcohol markers, is that there is a built in blender pen on each marker bottom.
Once you touch the coloured marker tip to the blender tip, the marker colour lightens.
As you colour the coloured ink re-saturates the marker tip and the colour gets darker, until it goes to its original colour.
There is a more technical way of describing it…if you want to know more, go to the Chameleon site…this is where I got this labelled photo from ;)

Just for the record, I purchased these markers, they were NOT sent to me for a review … ;)

I hope you all had a very creative day :)
I started cleaning my craft room today…now that is a big job.

  5. I think they look awesome! Maybe something like this would be good for me. Copics seem overwhelming for me ;)

  7. Hey Tracy! Glad you're trying your hand at the Chameleons. If this was your first time using the markers, you did awesome. Just a tip, when the nibs are brand new, you'll see lines in the coloring. When the nibs get broken in (they are meant to splay out) then the lines will go away:)

  8. Great review. I haven't used mine yet because I am too intimidated, but soon. LOL I don't like how "fat" they are which was a surprise when I got them in the mail. But it might be okay.
