Girls May Long Weekend 2018

Every year we go to my SIL/Friend Sharon's camp for a girls weekend.
For the last few years Sharon and I go up the day before my daughter's come up.
Here we are with beautiful Lake Superior in the background.
It is such a lovely view.

We spend most of our time crafting.
We started scrapbooking about 22 yrs ago and planned our first girls weekend trip to Winnipeg.
At that time we wanted to hit up Michael's Craft store as we didn't have any type of craft store in our city at that time....and boy we did some damage, lol.

For the last 3 years we have been having our own paint night...but we do it during the day as the light is better, lol.

My younger daughters were very particular on their skies and repainted their whole painting to get it just to their liking.
Which turned out beautifully.

Sawyer is the only boy allowed up for girls weekend as he came last year as well.
He had such fun playing with the bubbles that his mommy brought.

We always have a great time up at Sharon's camp.
Lots of creating, laughing, eating of junk food and late nights.

Onto My Day.
Wayne and I watch Sawyer about 3 days a week while his parents work.
I had told my girls that I would not be doing this (that was in my younger years) now I can't get enough of him....I do occasionally take a afternoon nap when he does though, lol.
This little guy loves to go outside and with the warm weather, he couldn't understand why I wouldn't let him wear his toque to play outside, lol.
He also does not like socks on....ever since he was a baby the first thing he would do when he got inside was to pull off his socks.

Sawyer also love to garden with his Grandpa and I and we picked up a few little garden tools for him.
He is such a cutie and we will be getting him all weekend...so wish me luck he doesn't miss his mommy and daddy too much.

Thank you for visiting me today and I hope you all have a Creative Day.

Girls May Long 2017

Every year on the May Long Weekend, my daughters and I spend it at my SIL Sharon's camp.
Sharon and I usually go up a day or so early...the benefits of being retired :)

My daughter's came up the next day and brought laughter and Chinese food :)

One big change this year was we had a boy at the camp.
Sawyer...and we enjoyed every second with him.
I loved spending so much time with him.
He loves to snuggle in his blankie.

Ashley taught Sawyer a new trick.
He is so clever, teehee.

The girls enjoyed a few walks in between the rain.

We also had a weekend full of junk food...and plenty of pop for me ;)

And we created a lot!!
Last year we started a paint day.
Kristy picked this image and we all did a great job in re-creating it :)

The best was when Ashley would bring Sawyer to me when he woke up.
Nothing better then snuggling a happy baby when you first wake up :)
We also did scrapbooking!!!
I only completed 16 layouts in the 5 days we were there, but I think that was pretty good considering I wasn't feeling up to par for a day and a half.
But the layouts I did complete, I love how they turned out!!!

I hope you all have a very creative day :)

Day 2.... shopping shopping shopping

Today was the day that we have been waiting for all year!
Our shopping trip to Crafts Direct!!!
There is just so much in this store and so much fun to look at everything in it.
I found some goodies...and look...a new trimmer!!
It was a really good price :)

I know, I know, I don't need anymore papers, but these are so pretty.
The black and gold papers really caught my eye...not my usually picks, but am excited to create with them...and hey, we are suppose to step out of our comfort zone when creating right ;)

We also checked out Crafts Direct Warehouse.
The papers were all 4 for .25c  Pretty good deal in my book.
My friend Myra was here last week and they were .10c each...an even better deal.

Here are some more goodies from the warehouse.
Yes, I went a little bit baby crazy on the papers and embellishments, but its just so fun.
I really like the dies I picked up :)

We went to a Michael's and the teller let me use a seperate coupon on my paper packs..bonus :)
I have been wanting these bloosom stickers for years, but didn't want to pay the money for them, as they were crazy pricey....but I got them today as they were a really good price :)
I know I need more paper like I need more washi...or should I say, I need more washi like I need more paper....but both are just to darn pretty :)

Found another Hobby Lobby after driving around the whole city.
Seriously the people in this city do not know how to give directions.
My GPS wasn't finding the store (I think it may have been a new store) and after a few of the ladies telling us to turn right for the next 3 streets and us ending up at a dead end, we took matters into our own hands and just drove around until we found it.

Last shopping stop was at JoAnns.
Everything in the store was either 40 or 50% off!!!
Or even cheaper.

Here is Sharon and I excited to go into Crafts Direct :)
It was hot and windy today...can you tell, lol.

On the way I spotting the Oscar Mayer wiener van and did a bit of a detour to get a couple of pictures of it.
Not everyday you see this :)

We didn't get to go to Pine City Scrapbookers as we spent to much time looking for stores, lol.
But guess what we are doing tomorrow :)
Pine City and crafting all day:)

Hope you all have a very creative day :)

I love an Adventure

I am off on another adventure.
I love summer :)

Every year my SIL/friend Sharon and I go away for a little getaway.
Look how light I packed.
The black rolling tote is my crafty supplies (as we plan one day to craft away), the bag with the pink on it is my clothes (and maybe I snuck some extra crafty supplies in there as well) and lastly, the bag with blue on it is my lap top and some journals...I always need to make lists.
I think I packed pretty light for 4 days away.

1st stop on our way to our destination was to Michaels.
So with coupons in hand we scoured the store for some good deals.
Everything was on sale except the glue, which I used my coupon on :)
I was looking for a new trimmer as most of my measurements have rubbed off.
Sadly the price was the same as at home, so I would be paying way more here when adding the exchange rate and even if I used my coupon.
I'm thinking I'll wait until I get home to pick that up.

Michael's had their "Hot Buys" going on.
I need paper like I need more washi tape...but seriously for the price (even with the exchange) it was well worth it.

Next Stop...Hobby Lobby.
I have been looking for the Warm Grey in the Spectrum Noir markers.
I have tried checking them out on line, but they are always out of stock.
I have seen in the past that Hobby Lobby carries these markers, but not the Warm Grey's.
But no worries...I found a few other items to make me smile ;)

The off to Target to pick up some Coca-Cola and some munchies, as I need to keep nourished while shopping ;)
Oh look, some washi tape, teehee.
I also may have picked up some cute things for my soon to be grand baby :)

Last store before going to to Red Lobster for supper was Barnes and Noble.....who says you can have to many pretty journals :)

The back on the road for our drive to Hinckley.
More crafty goodies to share soon.
I hope you all have a very creative Day.

Fun with Art.

I had a GREAT long weekend at my SIL/friend Sharon's camp.
Every May long weekend my daughter's and I are welcomed to Sharon's camp for junk food, creative filled weekend.
Sharon and I headed out a day earlier than my girls....its good to be retired ;)
Oh, and if you don't know already...I am the short one.
I am actually on my tip toes to look a bit taller...I know, it didn't work, lol.

Sharon and I do many different types of art..but we have been (mainly) into paper crafting for the last 20 yrs.
But this weekend my oldest daughter Ashley, suggested we try our hand painting on canvas.

I love all types of art and jumped at this idea...so I ran to the dollar store to pick up some blank canvases for us all.
I had paints, but Kristy picked up some tubes, also from the dollar store.
My daughters set up our work areas and came prepared with the inspiration copies for us all.
She found our inspiration piece on "Pinterest"
Then off we went
I have to say, I think we were all pretty impressed with what we all created....especially since Sharon didn't burn hers as she thought she was going to have to do.

After the painting was all cleaned up, it was time to scrapbook.
I have to say I outdid myself this year.
I made 20 (photoless) layouts and 11 cards!!
That is major for me..but then again, staying up past 2:00am, you can achieve a lot.
Now to figure out my laptop problems.
My iPhoto isn't working again.
I had to email these photos to myself, then put them in a folder in order to share them on my blog.
I couldn't post from my phone as the blogger app I had on my old phone, I can't find, and the new one won't work in Canada.
I am just frustrated with technology...but love it when it works ;)

I hope you all have a very Creative day :)

Girls Get Away at Mink Mountain

Every year my friend Debbie and I go to Mink Mountain for a bit of a crafty getaway.
This year we timed it perfectly…..3 days after Ashley's wedding.
I needed some down time :)

We spend most of our time creating.
This year we did lots of scrapbooking!!!!
We also did our hikes…I love these hikes :)

I brought my "big boy" camera.
Looks like I know what I'm doing with it…I don't, lol.
I love this photo Debbie took of me, I actually look tall, lol.

A deer came and visited us one morning :)

One of the neighbours out there has a garden and sets out veggies for anyone who would like them.

This year the cooler was empty :(
But I love the generosity of this neighbour…I even made her/him a thank you card one year.
I just left it by the cooler.

An Inukshuk a different neighbour made for the entrance to their camp/home.

Here is part of one of the trails that we walked along.
This trail was the Lake view trail.
So many roots and many of them were all that was holding the soil together.
The lake below eroded the earth underneath it…so cool to walk on…unless of course it ever gave away, teehee.

To continue on our walk, we needed to use the rope to climb up the mountain.
It is so steep..and again, so cool.

This root looks like a hand trying to grab on for dear life.

We saw a duck and a crane on our walk.
I only had my portrait lens on, so couldn't get a very close photo of this guy.

 Me enjoying our walk :)

And look who cooked all of our dinners….thank you Debbie.
Everything was delicious :)

Walking, creating and time spent with a good friend….what can be better than that.
Oh yes, and me not having to cook….Paradise :)

Hope you all had a wonderful and creative weekend :)

Tracy :)
