I used to make many different cards for Christmas, but my dilemma was then, who gets which card....funny how it was so stressful for me, lol.
So for the last few years I have been keeping it simple and making the same card for everyone on my list.
If you remember the make and takes from the Crop & Create event, I mentioned that one of the cards, from Sharon at the Scrapbook Cottage, was the inspiration for my cards for this year.
This is my take on Sharon's card.
I love this snowflake die set by Hero Arts..isn't it so pretty.
The first thing I did was work on the sky background.
I took Vicki Boutin's foundation paper (3 full 12x12 sheets actually) and coloured the background with distress oxide and distress inks.
I then flicked some water on the inked paper as the inks react with water.
Still doesn't look like much.
The die set comes with 2 pieces, one is in the shape of a ornament and the other a circle of snowflakes.
I used the ornament die to cut out the inked paper as it is to go behind the card front.
The snowflake part of the die, is pretty intricate, so I used a piece of wax paper in between the paper and the die to make taking off the paper easier...and you know what, it worked!!
I then adhered the coloured paper to the inside of the card.
I then stamped on the sentiment and I was done!
I really like how they turned out!!
Every Friday Night I have a night of scrapbooking and invite my friends to join me.
I also love to host a 12 hour scrapbook get together every so often.
So I hosted a 12 hour Christmas Party/Crop.
This was also a great time to swap our tags in our annual Christmas gift tag swap.
We have to make 3 tags for each person that wants to swap.
Here are my tags.
I made mine super super easy this year.
I wanted to use a stamp set that I don't think I had used yet (I purchased it a year or 2 ago!)
It is a Stampin' Up stamp set and I really like it, so not sure why it took me so long to use it.
I used manila tags and stamped the image with a dark brown ink.
I then stamped the sentiment with the same dark brown in and then popped it up with foam adhesive.
I added some colour to this one.
I also cut this one down as it was going to have a lot of white space.
I used the pieces I cut off for the sentiment on the above tags.
I added some pop to this on as the red ornaments on the tree are red half back pearls.
Party time.
I had 10 friends come to my party as well as myself..that makes 11.
I converted my husband's pool table into a large craft table years ago and it works awesome, but this year I had to add another table and a little area for me to accommodate everyone.
Oh and we love to take selfies, teehee.
Even though it was a 12 hour crop, everyone left with an hour to go...so I was by myself at 10:00pm...but I wasn't ready to quit, lol.
See how I made this work area for myself...I loved it!!
I made a video on my tags and my Christmas cards...I used the tags I received and forgot to share them.
This is my last haul for awhile...I promise, teehee.
At the Crop & Create event they invite the Scrapbook Cottage store..which we are so so grateful for.
I have mentioned many times that the only craft/scrapbooking store we have here in my city is Michaels and honestly as much as I love Michaels, they don't carry most of the products that we crafters need.
So I am so happy when Sharon from the Scrapbook Cottage drives the 8 hour trip all the way here from Steinbeck (or Winnipeg as she has 2 stores) to be with us.
I am sure all of us ladies make it worth the trip ;)
Here are a few of the products I picked up from Sharon's store.
I can't wait until the New Year to make time to play with all of these new goodies.
I also picked up this cup holder/trash holder.
I have been looking to get this for a few years, but the price has always kept me back. Finally (with my friends urging me along) I picked it up.
What I have done is put a small plastic bag inside this fabric bag so the adhesive bits won't get stuck to the fabric.
I also cut a circle of foam core to keep my pop can to sit on a level area as the bottom of the cup holder is metal bars.
I picked up a lot more goodies than shared in these photos...so if you would like to see everything I purchased, be sure to watch the video :)
Thank you so much for visiting me today and I hope you all have a very Creative Day💗
I thought I would share the kits I purchased at the Crop & Create event.
I have mentioned this before on my blog here and also on my YouTube channel.
I love all types of crafts and paper crafting is one of my long time loves.
I used to think that when making my scrapbook layouts, I needed to be original.
I used to think, kits were not creative, they were taking someone else's ideas and just adding my own photos to them.
Then I went to a Crop & Create event and received an Attendee kit and also purchased a kit or two.
Wow, that sure changed my mind...it also got me back into scrapbooking!!
I have to admit I don't follow the kits exactly.
I usually use the other side of the paper, or add a my own cardstock to stretch the kit..but with all that come in these kits you have the creative freedom to use the kit as is, or to make it your own.
With that being said...I went light on my purchases on kits at this event and only picked up 6.
But I do have a bundle of them from the Winnipeg event!
I think these will keep me busy until March when the Crop & Create event goes to Winnipeg and my friends and I do a road trip out there :)
I did a video on the kits I purchased with a bit of a closer look at them.
I haven't posted in so long, that I feel as though I should reintroduce myself.
My goal in the New Year is to get back to posting on my blog and doing more YouTube videos.
The last video I did was about 6 months ago...but I sure have been doing a few of them since coming back from the Crop & Create event.
Here are a few Goodies we received from the Event.
Stampin' Up was very generous and gifted us all with this stocking kit.
So easy and fun to put together....I completed mine while watching a movie and made them into a banner.
Another generous contributor to the Crop & Create Event was from Pink Fresh Studio.
I love the heart die and the tag stamps.
Can you believe My Favorite Things not only gave us all a stamp set, but also the matching die set!!!
Again, good ol' Stampin' Up couldn't be outdone and gifted everyone not 1 but 2 stamp sets!!
And who doesn't love Lawn Fawn!
These cute owls are just so adorable and they also gifted us each this die cut.
So much more was given to us at this fun event, so I made a video to share in more detail what we all received from Crop & Create.
If you ever get a chance to attend one of these fun events, jump on it and go!!
