The Scrapbook Cottage’s Challenge #6 "Camp Birthdays"

So many layouts so little time!
Here is my layout and my card for The Scrapbook Cottage’s challenge.
These photos are from my oldest daughter Ashleys and my birthday.  Our birthdays are 2 days apart in July and we celebrate them up at our cottages.

I found this paper in my stash and thought it was perfect for this sketch.
Sharon actually fussy cut her flowers from floral paper. At first I was going to use die cut flowers, but when I came across this floral paper I figured it went perfectly.

When I see a sheet or two of paper I really like, I try to make a mini kit with it right there at the store.
I want to say I picked this apart up at Archivers (I sure miss that store, it was the highlight of our trips to the States).
The floral paper had a diamond patten paper that matched, so I bought them both (2 of each sheet!) and also the cardstock to coordinate.
I then tore the diamond pattern paper to layer on the floral paper.
On the second page I flipped the floral paper for interest.

Here is my card with these left over papers.

Here are the sketches I followed.
I really had such a great time during this virtual crop...I would love to go to one of The Scrapbook Cottages in person events as this one was so much fun!

Thank you Sharon, Kathy and team for making these days so much more enjoyable.

The Scrapbook Cottage’s Challenge #5 "Birthday Beauty"

Yup more layouts from The Scrapbook Cottage's virtual crop!
I am just so impressed with the amount of time in between challenges that not only did I complete every challenge...but I also got photos put on my layouts!!
Here is a layout of my youngest daughter, Kristy's 26th birthday.

I went deep into my stash and grabbed these papers...I really love the colours.
I love contrast.
As much as I try to stay in a soft colour pallet, I end up using darker colours in my art.

I love these letters.
I wish I could have taken a better photo to show off the sparkle in them.
They are like a soft resin with the sparkle inside of them.
And I was so happy to have found these in my stash.
I love that they are subtle as they are close to the back ground paper, yet they are easy to see.

I used some left over papers and cut apart from this paper pack to make my card.
It actually turned out better than I thought it would.

Here are the sketches that I followed for these layouts and this card.

Thank you so much for joining me today.
I haven't blogged in so long, I feel like I am just starting out again.

I hope you are all well and safe and have a creative day.

The Scrapbook Cottage’s Challenge #4 "Young Love"

Here is the 4th layouts and card challenges I completed for the online event that the Scrapbook Cottage put on.
If you read my past posts on these, you will know how much fun I had!!

These photos are of my youngest daughter Kristy and her boyfriend, of  over 10 years, Blake.
I fussy cut these beautiful butterflies from this gorgeous paper collection.
I have to thank my friend/table mate (from a couple of years ago) Julie for this paper. She was going to discard it (I was flabbergasted when she told me that!) as these were her discarded pieces from a mini album she was working on.
I also fussy cut this flower cluster from the papers.
I was debating on adding journaling to this layout.
The photos and papers are so beautiful and don’t want to take away from them.
My oldest daughter, Ashley, is a photographer, so Kristy and Blake are used for her models quite a bit. Lol.

There was a card sketch as well.
Here is my take on the card!
I used my stampinUp tag punch for the top of this handmade tag.
This is an old paperback (go me for using my stash!).

Here are the sketches we used for the challenges.
Thank you again Sharon and Kathy for putting on such a fun filled, jam packed virtual event!

I hope you are all safe and well and having a creative day.

Scrapbook Cottage Challenge #3 "Chilled Boys"

I had so much fun at The Scrapbook Cottage's virtual scrapbook crop.
I usually attend crops with my group of friends, but with us being in Lockdown/Stay at home order, that hasn't happened since a year ago.

I really enjoyed doing their challenges and working on the sketches they provided.
This was a 1 page spread and I really enjoyed playing with my own supplies...some really old supplies.
I had to turn the sketch sideways to accommodate my photos.

These photos just get to me, lol.
My oldest daughter Ashley is a photographer and has such great ideas on photoshoots.
Which this would have been such a great photo shoot of her boys, that is if it wasn't so cold out.
My husband, daughter and I put up the our old Christmas tree and decorated it, while my daughter staged the area. But my poor grandson's were freezing...Sawyer (the oldest of the two) tried so hard to help his mommy out with getting the perfect photos. He tried so hard to smile. Dawson my youngest grandson, wasn't having any of it, lol.

We also had a card challenge with every scrapbook challenge.
Here is my take on this challenge.
I used scraps of this beautiful paper my friend Julie was going to dispose at a crop a year or 2 ago.

Here are the sketches we followed for the 3rd challenges of the day.

Thank you again Sharon and Kathy for putting on such a fun event...and for helping us all with our online shopping ;)

I hoping you are all healthy and safe and have a wonderfully creative day.

Scrapbook Cottage Challenge #2 "Christmas Eve"

This past weekend I attended a free virtual scrapbooking crop. I had the best time scrapbooking solo...but still chatting with my friends through FaceTime.

Sharon and Kathy put on classes (which you could purchase kits for) and challenges. It was so jam packed full of fun that I only had time to follow the challenges.

Here is my layout for the second sketch challenge of the day.

I’m still working on my Christmas pages.
But you know what I’m proud of....that these are from last Christmas....go me!

Another thing I am proud of, is doing these sketches with my own supplies.
For this one I used my old Graphic45 papers that I have been hoarding for years.
As beautiful as they are in their paper pack....I think they look even more beautiful on a layout of my family❤️
The Scrapbook Cottage also had card sketch challenges.
Here is my take on that sketch.

Here are the sketches I followed.

Thank you Sharon and Kathy for putting on such a fun event!

I hope you are all safe and well and have a very creative day.

Happy Holidays

I hope you all have had wonderful Christmas.

Like many around the world the Holidays have been a little more quiet.
We are in lockdown here in my province as of today.
Luckily I was able to celebrate Christmas with my immediate family.
We were only to have 10 people in our house during Christmas, but as of today, we can now only have  those that live in our household.
I am sure going to miss my daughter, son in law and my grandbabies....but so far it is only for 14 days.

Now onto some fun things.
Christmas cards!!!

I wanted to do something new this year for my cards.
I wanted to play with some water colours!
I drew my images and then coloured and shaded them with my Inktense water-colour coloured pencils.
I have been trying to play more with my supplies....got em, use em...right?!?

Funny as I am looking at the card fronts, I am thinking I should have added some shadows to the babbles and maybe some more colour to the background.
Always a critic to my own work, lol.

I hope you are all safe and have a creative day.

Ashley’s 29th Birthday and her card.

Today is my oldest daughter Ashley’s 29th Birthday.
How can she be 29 !!!
Ashley loves ice-cream and even more so now that she is pregnant.
So I decided to make her an ice-cream cone birthday card.
I made it up here at our cottage, so brought up a bunch of circle punches.... I had these fun papers up at camp already.

Talk about her love of ice-cream, she chose an ice-cream cake for her birthday cake.

Here is the star of the day... my beautiful, loving and awesome mommy, my daughter Ashley.
This photo was taken last week, here at the cottage.
Such a beautiful mama.
Ashley is due September 10th... I’m so excited to hold my second grandson.

Here is the inside of the birthday card.

Hope you had a wonderful birthday and I am so lucky we got to spend the weekend together ❤️

World Card Making Day

Today is World Card Making Day and I am up at the cottage closing up for the season.
I honestly didn't think I would be able to participate, but I found some fun challenges on "The Scrapbook Cottage" site and really wanted to play along.
I have made 3 cards so far and am having a blast working with what I have here at camp..which isn't much.

I had this La La Land image already coloured, so that helped.
I had coloured this years ago and put it in a photo book that I bring to camp filled with uncoloured images as well as a few that I had coloured already.
I also keep a few different colours of cardstock up here, just for making cards when its a rainy day up at camp.
I also keep 3, 6x6 pattern paper packs up here and for this card I used Sunny Side by Pebbles.

Like I said, I coloured this image years ago..and I can tell, but I might as well use it, right :)
I used my Copics to colour cute little Marci.
The colouring on these photos is off as the sun was going down as I was taking these pictures.

Here is the sketch that The Scrapbook Cottage shared for us card makers to get some inspiration from.
Sketch is from Page Maps.

Have you participated in World Card Making Day?
I am still going strong with my limited supplies :)

I hope you all had a very Creative Day

Cottage Cards

I always have craft supplies up at our cottage.
I have stashes all over the place, teehee.
So when my SIL and her husband came up to our cottage on the last long weekend, I was able to make a couple of cards as it rained a lot of the time.

I had brought up my hexagon punches and had a but of fun playing with ways to use them.
I also inked the edges of the punch outs to make them pop a bit.

My SIL, Sharon, purchased a planner when we went on our shopping getaway.
It was a dateless planner, so I added the stickers for the days of the month and weeks.
It was kind of an obsession after a while,
Then realized I had a planner with these stickers at home...which I hadn't put on the stickers, lol.
So I have a lot of practice when I get to mine.

I hope you all have a very creative day :)

It's a Mouse Thing

I had purchased this fun kit from Crop & Create last year called Disney Magic Layouts.
The kit was designed by Virginia Nebel.
Even though I have never been to Disney and probably never will, I loved the colours in this kit.
I am pretty sure the papers are from Eco Park called Magical Adventure.
So after bantering with myself, I grabbed it!
Even though the kit is Disney themed, I think I did a good job in not having the layouts look Disneyish.
The kit makes 7 layouts.
I made 10 layouts and 4 cards with this kit.
I love to stretch my kits.
Now, because I don't have any photos on these finished layouts I can't show them (as my daughter Kristy has mentioned more times than not, that it isn't completed until the pictures are on it),
I will share with you one of the 4 cards I made with my left over papers.

Out of all my projects with this kit, this card is the only one that looks like it would look to be Disneyish.
The reason....this is going to a friend of mine, that not only loves everything Disney, she also visits the Happiest Place on Earth a lot, and is actually heading there again soon.

Here is the inside of Schell's card.
To bad those tickets didn't give her free access to the park and the rides.
Everything on my cards were left overs from the kit.
When I was done with all the bits and pieces I was going to use, I passed the rest onto my friends.

See how fun and happy these papers are!!!
Not my usual colour palette, but so much fun.
What is your usual colour palette when creating cards?

Onto My Day
I visited my daughter Ashley and my grand baby Sawyer.
I held Sawyer most of the day and then played with him on the floor...I can't get enough of this little sweetheart.
My daughter needed my help in hanging a shelf in Sawyer's room.
I should have snapped a photo of it as it is a wood shelf, shaped like the letter "S" with dividers in it for some mini trinkets, it is really cute.

I hope you all have a very Creative Day :)

Who doesn't love a creative party

Stampin' Up fun.
I hosted a Stampin' Up party last Sunday and we got to make 2 beautiful cards.

I love the copper and how it pops off of the black cradstock.
The top panel of the card is embossed and shimmer is sprinkled on top.

Isn't this embellishment just so pretty.
I love the look of embossing and really love the copper embossing powder on this one.

And our second card has a totally different look than our first one, but equally as beautiful.
The dry embossing on here is very pretty.

We used the copper foil paper again and I love the look of it.
Isn't that mini pinecone charm adorable!!!

And here we all are busy at work.

And then we have this little guy.
I had his parents over for dinner tonight and didn't want him to go home.
Looks like he is saying "Go home!?!...really...but I want to stay and Grandma Tracy's house".
At least thats what I think he is saying with this expression, teehee.

I hope you all have a very creative day and I will try to reply to my messages and emails tonight :)

Last day in Hinckley

On the last day of our Hinckley trip Sharon and I always plan on crafting that whole day.
We did craft, but first had to run into Pine City to do the last of our shopping.
I always go to Pine City Scrapbooking....love that store and they love me.

But when we came back we set up shop at the upstairs lobby table
We actually took over, as me moved the lamp for better lighting :)
Here is our set up....not including the bags we have at our feet ;)

The card folds may look familiar as they are the same layouts we used for the fun fold cards from Crop & Create I shared on past blog posts.
I was planning on colouring some images and making cards with them...but when I saw that Sharon was going to make these, I just couldn't help myself :)

I brought one of my first 6x6 paper pads and had a chuckle as that is what we used for all of our cards.
It was a seasonal pack which had monthly papers in them.
I just thought this Popsicle paper was so cute.

Oh ya, Sharon's cards are all on the left and mine are the ones on the right :)
One thing about crafting away from home, is you never know what embellishments to take with you.
I have the perfect cupcake sticker for on top of this doily.

As you can see Sharon loves to make Christmas cards.
I think she has all of her Christmas cards made for the next 4 years, you think I'm kidding...I'm not.
So I decided to make a Christmas card as well.

We had card stock scraps and I hate to waste, so we made some 3x3 cards.

Lastly one of my favourite types of folds an easel card.
I am still using those Mary Engelbreit papers.
These ones are leftover papers and some fussy cut pieces from other cards I had made.

I hope you enjoyed virtually joining me on our girls trip :)

Simple Mini Cards

The other weekend when we were at the cottage, I needed 2 cards....2 quick cards.

I usually like to make square cards.
5.5 x 11 scored at 5.5
With this size I am left with a 11x 3 strip of card stock.
I like to make mini cards with theses pieces.

Being at camp I have limited supplies (well, limited for me that is ;)  )
I always keep a bit of card stock up there, some small pattern papers, a mini trimmer, my Spectrum Noir markers and stamped images to be coloured.
I just happen to have brought some washi tape with me as well (I don't leave home without it...well, some of it, teehee)

One of our neighbours at the cottage has just got into making cards.
So loved my mini card so much that she made a "Thank You" card for me in the same size.
She was a bit worried that I would be upset that she used my mini card idea.
I just chuckled at her and told her I love to share what I know...I have a blog and YouTube channel where I do just that ;)
She takes photos of flowers around our area and that is what she puts on the fronts of her cards.
Isn't it so pretty :)

I cut all of my scraps into managable sizes 6X6 and a tad smaller and gave them all to her.
It was a win, win :)
I got to give away most of my scraps, so now I don't have to feel guilty cutting into my new paper with all those scraps needing to be used up.
She got pattern papers (as she didn't have any).
Plus she brought me some raspberry jam she just made...yum.

I hope you all have a very Creative Day :)

Tracy :)
