Pocket Cards...Defunkified!!!

Now don't these look so nice and organized...

Well you know they didn't start off looking that good :)
I kept my pocket cards and my tags together in this Ikea container.
And kept the Ikea container in this tray.
And as I had mentioned before, I tend to pile things without a home, on top of flat surfaces....and this was as good as a flat surface to me ;)

I also purchased quite a few more Pocket cards and kits.
Funny as I don't do Project Life (as this is what these are intended for) but I sure seem to purchase them.
So first thing I do when organizing is to put everything out on my large table.
Once I have everything in front of me, it is easier to see all that I have.
It is also easier to see what I don't want and can pass on to other and also find the best way to organize and store them.

At first I was going to store them in the Core kit packaging.
That would have worked great!!!
But I found out I could store more in these Ikea containers.
Thankfully I picked up a few of them on one of our trips.

This Ikea container holds the older cards that I had.
As well as my grid and index cards.

I put the core kits and some other smaller kits in this second Ikea container.
I also cut the packaging from the boxes and put them in the back of the container.
Because the packaging has pictures of which cards are in which kits, it is easier to find the ones I want.
I made a tab for each kit, labeled them and even added a card from that kit on the front of the tab, so I know at quick glance what colours are in that kit.

I am really happy with how these turned out, I can see at a quick glance which ones I have and I don't have to open a package each time I want to get one card.

I have been learning a couple of things about how I work and how to organize my supplies that will work better for me :)

Now onto the video :)
If you would rather watch it with the full screen, check out my YouTube channel for this video and many others :)

I need to stay home ;)

Today was a pretty busy day.
I had some errands to run, then Heather, Kristy and I went shopping.
Then I dropped them off at Ashley's house as they are sleeping over there tonight.

I had a lot of alone time on my hands as Wayne worked late tonight, he didn't get home until after 9:30.
So with so much time on my hands, whats a crafty girl to do.
I know what I should have been doing….crafting ;)
But I decided to wander through Michael's.
I took my time and went down every aisle.
I found these goodies in the clearance area :)
The 12x12 papers are some resist papers from Heidi Swapp.
I had my eye on these Recollections frames a while back, but way to pricey for my liking.
I thought that these chipboard speech bubbles looked like fun :)

They had one last package of this other set of the Heidi Swapp PL cards.
I felt pressured to pick them up, teehee.
They have a gold foil on the cards.
I am thinking I may be able to change the colours of the backgrounds with either mists or inks.

Here are all the 4x6 cards.
There are 3 cards in each design.
I personally would have preferred more designs instead of 3 of the same cards.

Here are the 3x4 cards.
Again there are 3 cards in each design.
But if I ink or spray the backgrounds, it will give the cards a different look.
The package in the top left are all the chipboard pieces.

When I did get home, I wasn't going to eat supper alone, so I waited for Wayne.
So I decided to check out the internet and watch a video or two.
Then our cute little Luna decided to snuggle on my lap and go for a nap….a long nap.
It was so cute that I didn't want to disturb her, even though I really had to go pee.
Let just say when she finally woke up, I had to move very carefully to the washroom ;)

Hope you all had a Creative Day :)

Project Life Heidi Swapp style

Because I didn't make my card for the wedding yesterday, I had a few of my creative club members tease me.
A couple of the ladies on my Facebook Page "Tracy's Treasures" told me I should be punished by having a time out in my craft room, or should have to create all day….I think I can live with that punishment, lol.

I didn't have a chance to create yet today, but what I did do, was go to Michael's ;)
I had seen a video on FB of Heidi Swapp and Becky Higgins collaborating on a project for PL.
Now if you follow my blog you know I don't do PL.
I do "Project 365" in a regular run of the mill, ol' fashion photo album.
But what got my attention with this set is, well for one, I love Heidi Swapp's style.
I thought it was fun that these cards have a resist for the sprays :)

So lets take a closer look at what we get in the kit.
2 each of the sticky back canvas's and one each of these wooden words.
I am having a bit of a problem with the dots on the i's not there…but that is one of my many quirks ;)

Here are the resist cards.
I love the heart one that says "Love you" on it :)
There are 2 cards per style.

These cards are also resist cards.
This will be fun to change up the colours and play around with them.
Again there are 2 cards per style.

These cards here are water paper cards.
I love the cut outs, but again I am working with my issue of the empty spaces with the letters.

The package price was $24.99 a bit steep in my opinion, but I did have a 40% off coupon which brought it down to $14.99 before our 13% tax was added.
I am a collector, so of course I want them all. Even the core kits (I think that is what they are called)
It may be time for a trip to the good ol' US of A. I think the price I paid with my coupon, is the regular price I would pay there ;)

I hope you all had a Creative Day :)

Last pages for January in my Project 365.

Here are my last pages for January in my Project 365 album.
Funny thing is..it is also the last pages I have done in this album…a bit behind I would say, lol.

As you know I am documenting the little things in my family's life.
I take a photo every day, I just need to actually put them in the book ;)
Me and my family enjoy looking through my past books and relive our ordinary days as well as the exciting ones :)

Having 4 women (well 3 now that Ashley has her own place) living in this house, having plenty of TP is a comforting feeling, teehee.
A mishap with our leaking water heater.
A few cute photos of Ashley's kitty Sebastian.

A few creative projects for the month.
Wayne finally having his Black and Tan as he missed it on New Years as we were both too ill to have our yearly party.
Getting the dining table ready to be taken apart as we were getting our new one :)

Because I want to keep my pages flat, I added plenty of washi tape, stamps and only one brad.
Hoping to do February soon ;)

I hope you all had a very creative Tuesday :)

Kitting up the Kit….and a few thankfulness's ;)

Last night was Friday Night Scrapbooking and I had 4 ladies as well as myself here and we had a wonderful time :)
I really need to take over the rec-room pool table as we need more room.
I have to research how to (safely) cover a pool table ;)

So last night I worked on another kit I bought at the Crop & Create event I went to last month.
The kits show you what your pages will look like, but you have to cut the papers based on their cutting instructions.
I have to say, I did make an error or two in the cutting department.
I am more of a visual person, not a "follow instructions" type of person , lol.

This kit makes 3 different (one page) layouts.
As you know, I am a two page layout scrapper.
What I did was cut all the papers for each layout and put them each in their own bag.
I have all the left over paper in another bag.
What I am going to do is match up, or use my own card stock for the background and then use the leftover pieces for the second page.
I have been pretty impressed with the extras in these kits :)

Yesterday I forgot to share my Day 22 of 30 Days of Thankfulness.
Yesterday I was thankful for a nice warm/hot candlelit bath.
After working in Ashley's unheated garage all day yesterday and the day before, I was soooo cold, I needed to get my core temperature back to normal ;)
Mind you my nose and toes were still freezing to the touch when I went to bed.

Day 23 of 30 Days of Thankfulness.
Today I am thankful for my favourite beverage.
I have almost quit my pop habit, but I will not say, I will never drink this sweet nectar again ;)
I have quit drinking pop for a year or so in the past, but why deny myself of something I like so much So today I am thankful that I can still drink my pop and then go back to water for the rest of the week, or month..or for however long I want ;)

I have another thing that I am thankful for today.
Becky Higgins has a class going on at Creative Live called Scrapbooking with Project Life.
It was a 3 day free course. It started on Wednesday till Friday and ran for, I think, 7 hours each day.
As I was busy with Ashley I didn't get to see most of it.
But this weekend they are re-airing it.
Even though I don't do Project life ( I do Project 365, with my own supplies). It was very educational and I am sure many will start up with her kits…hey, you never know, I may as well ;)
One of my favourite parts (that I had seen) was the segment with her brother, talking about photo organizing and backup.
I took screen shots and notes as I really need this.
Here is the link if you want to tune in..Becky Higgins.

That is all for me for tonight.
Wayne and I spent the day with Ashley.
Ashley and I are so so close to being finished with her project :) :) :)
Because it was -26C, I told her and her boyfriend to bring the project into her spare room last night, as the wood filler wouldn't dry in this cold.
So today I sanded and then Ashley and I prepped the wood and put one coat of paint on it.
She had to go out tonight, so we weren't able to finish it.
I was going to stay and work on it, until it was finished. But I promised Wayne we could go home during Half time of the foot ball game.
He said we could stay, but we needed to do a bit of errands before heading home and it was after 5:00pm.
Hopefully it will be completed tomorrow and I can finally share it with you :)

I hope you all had a very creative Saturday :)

Tracy :)
