Winter Crop Smash book page

I have another Smash book page to share with you.
I am on a roll.
My goal was to do a page a month….look at me, my second one ;)

I started this page at the Crop I put on the other Saturday.
I actually took these photos that same day (as I am in the photo, someone else actually took them ;)
I used my new Instax, instant camera my daughters bought me for Christmas :)
It is a fun little camera, I had an instant camera when I was a young girl and loved it :)

Let us take a closer look to this page.
Here are the cute photos :)
I popped them up with foam dots.
At the bottom of the layout I needed to cover up the manufacturers information.
I didn't realize when I did my first page (which is the back of this page), that this wasn't where the books pages actually started, lol.
So I used some pattern paper to make a pocket to cover it up, I then added a journal tag and popped it inside the pocket with my journaling on it.

I had fun making this little cluster :)
I used a journal card and added a overlay on top of it.
I added some washi tape, a flag that I cut out of the same paper as the pocket and lastly stapled this cute birch bark butterfly on top of it all.

This butterfly was given to me by Verna (she is in the bright pink shirt). She punched it out with a butterfly punch out of a thin layer of birch bark that was picked up on some trail…or in someone's back yard ;)
Pretty cool eh?

Using the same pattern paper as I did for the pocket, I cut out this banner.
I then adhered it to some twine and popped each banner up on a foam dot.

I sprayed this wood piece with some glimmer mist to better match the colour of the layout.
Orange would be one of the last colours I would use in a layout, but the page facing this one has pretty orange, I guess they are more of a peach colour, flowers on it.
I like the facing page, so wanted this one to blend nicely with that paper.

Here is a closer look at the overlay on the journal card.
"Enjoy This" is on the overlay.

One last look at the finished page :)
As you can see, I have added the journaling to the journal card.

I just started a new novel and I have a feeling it may be a late night for me ;)
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and a Creative Sunday :)

Smash book page for Daddy ;)

I spent a nice day in my craft room.
I made my March challenge card, but can't show it until the recipient receives it.
So I thought I would share my Smashbook pages.

This is my first Smash book. I was gifted it a few years ago.
I have dedicated this book to my trips away with my family and friends.
I had done these pages awhile ago.
The date shows Dec. 2012. I didn't make the pages then, but this was the date of our trip.

I love this photo of Wayne dishing out money to the girls, lol.
Isn't that what Daddy's do when the family goes on a trip, teehee.
I left these pages as they were, I just added the stamp "Remember When" and some washi tape under them. I did cut the words out of paper and cut the fishtails on the one end.

For this page I made the photos down the left hand side of the paper into pockets.
Then I made tags so I could journal on them. I tucked the tags under the photos so they can be pulled out to be read.
This is one thing I like about the Smash book, you can add dimension, pull out tags, or flip pages and use them as there are no page protectors to hinder the inactiveness of them.

I am liking the pages that I am creating as I go along in this book. I don't necessarily like all of the papers that are in here, but I can easily cover them up.

I hope you all had a very creative Thursday :)

A mini handmade Smash book Journal

Remember this "Smash-type" book my friend and I made on our creative getaway?
We had some papers and chipboard left over that Debbie wanted to somehow use.
I told her we can make another book (as I had more coils as well), but smaller. This one is 5 3/4x 5 1/2 before I added the binding.
This is such a cute little size and I am really happy with how it turned out.

I coloured up this adorable Gorjuss girl with my Copic markers. The wings I fussy cut out of some paper. I think it may have been Graphic 45 paper.
I made the frame around the girl out of pattern paper that I cut and mitered the corners.

Here are the Copic colours I used to colour up this pretty girl with. As you can see...no wings.

Here are a couple of the inside pages.
When making these albums, I would recommend using double sided, thicker papers as we did here.

Here are both mine and Debbie's books.
I love the title on Debbie's book. Perfect for this background we enjoyed all week while we were away :)

Onto My Day:
I spent most of my day cleaning house.
A friend came for a visit and another one called and chatted with me for a few hours. I guess my friends missed me while I was away and then helping Ashley with her house.
Talk about Ashley's house.
We have been there every night to bring some of her bigger items.
She has been here everyday to either pick stuff up or like tonight, for dinner ;)
I think we see each other more now then when she lived here, lol.

I hope you all have had a creative Monday :)

Home Made Mini Smash Book.....Making Ashley's house a Home...Day 2

I had shared the home made smash/type book I had made with my friend Debbie while we were away at our creative getaway in an earlier post.
But today I thought I would go into more detail....as there won't be a tutorial, sorry Becky ;)  But I will give you a little walk through :)
Here is my book

And here is both mine and Debbie's.
Like most of the cards we did this weekend, they are similar yet different.
We both used the same stamp collection, Prima dolls. But used different girls.
We used the same papers.
We used the same layout.
But as you can see they are a bit different.
For one thing we coloured them to look like us....well with longer legs and a skinner waist line ;)
As you can see Debbie made an "all about me" book. I guess she liked the idea of my "all about me" book that I started working on in May :)
I am not yet sure what this here book will be used for.

So the first thing I did was gather some chipboard.
I just used some thicker chipboard you can get from the backs of  the 12x12 paper pads. I never throw them away.
A tip: When picking up 12x12 loose papers from a store, ask for chipboard to keep the papers from bending...free chipboard ;)
I then cut the chipboard to the size of 7.5"x 6.5". We had seen the smaller smash books at a store, and Debbie really liked the size. As I always say "I can make that". So we did, lol.
We then used some thicker pattern paper with patterns on both front and back and cut them at 7"x6"
Before using my Bind it all to bind the pages together, we added the black decorative paper to the edge.
And voila we have a couple of really cute books.
Oh ya, we coloured the images with our Copics.
I also used washi tape on mine. It is the black strip with the pink flowers :)
Here are the colours I used for my girl. I totally forgot to get a photo of the colours Debbie used.

Onto My Day:
Ashley and I woke up early to hit Home Depot to pick up her paint and other painting and home supplies.
Then I ran to McDonalds for their breakfast as we didn't get to eat before we left the house...to excited I guess.
I vacuumed and then washed the baseboards and such.
Ashley went to pick up her sister up from home, as she didn't want them to have to wake up so early.
Then we all painted, and painted and painted.
I met one of the neighbours.
Ashley also got a load of topsoil as she wants to raise her yard a bit.
We also got a few visitors, and Ashley gave them all tours ;)

Hope you all had a creative Friday :)
Oh ya and if you're wondering...yes I am really as pale as my Copic coloured girl is.
I think I surprised Debbie when I showed her that I actually have a tan, by showing her my proof, of the tan marks on my feet made by my flip flops, lol.
I am still so pale, lol.

WOYWW, Working on my Traveling Tote

Today I am working on something I have been planning on doing for the last month or so.
I have my Day Planner, Smash book and journals... and a whole lot of mess ;)
I usually work on my books while Wayne and I watch television. He likes for me to be with him, so encourages me to bring my supplies up from my craft room.
So instead of running up and down the stairs, and getting Wayne to pause the movie we are watching...I decided to put together a supply kit I can keep in the living room so I don't have to leave all the time and so it doesn't look like I trashed my living room, lol.
Plus we go to the cottage almost every weekend, so with this all put together it will be so much easier for me to grab my travel kit and head out the door.
Wish me luck in condensing 3 project supplies into one tote :)

I just realized that it is Wednesday, so I can share my desk on Julia's blog for her "What's on Your Workdesk" post :)
Mind you this is my dining room table and not my actual craft desk.

Onto My Day:
I did my hour long walk.
Then Ashley came home for lunch.
Kristy took her college class exam, as yesterday when I brought her there, the teacher wasn't there. He phoned me today to tell me it was his error as he forgot...no sh1t sherlock. She was there on time, waited for 45 minutes and phoned him and emailed her other teacher as she waited for him.
So the teacher set up the exam, at her high school. she took her exam and figures she did very well on it :)
After school I took Kristy and her friend Allison for ice-cream.
It has been a tradition with me to take my daughters out for ice-cream at the end of the school year. Since my other daughters have been out of school for a few years, that  just leaves Kristy left, so we have taken her friend Allison with us for the last few years :)
Spent a good part of the day putting a video together for my Traveling tote. Hopefully I can share that tomorrow :)

I hope you all have had a creative Wednesday :)

Smash, day planner goodies

If you know me, then you know I save most of my creative shopping when we go away and I can shop at the cool crafting stores.

Well today I was missing my friend.
I went to visit her at work, but she was off today.
So I went to a store that we usually go to and I did some shopping :)
I found these date stamps for under $4.00 each.
I haven't used brads in awhile, but these were honkin' big and thought they were fun.
The frixion pens I picked up at Lowery's, they were pricey. I really fought with the thought of paying this much for them...but finally decided what the heck.
They were over $17.00 with taxes for these!

Over the weekend Heather totally cleaned the house, dusted, swept, mopped the whole nine yards.
But in order to do that, she needed to put all my scrappy stuff on the couch. Believe me there was a lot of scrappy stuff around the house, teehee.
So now is the perfect time to try and organize them.

If you are a follower of my blog and know me, then you know that I enjoy creating while Wayne and I watch tv during the evenings.
I want to put together a tote with tools and such in it so I don't have to keep running up and down the stairs. Plus now that it is cottage season I could take it to the cottage and have everything with me :)

Now just to figure out everything I need, with out taking absolutely everything ;)
If you have a traveling tote, what do you pack in it?

After over 3 years of blogging, I have figured out that I could add tags or labels to my posts, lol. See you can teach old dogs new tricks, teehee.

I hope you all have had a creative Monday :)

Tracy :)
