I was very surprised to receive this award from Stacy at Love That Bug. I am not a master at the Cricut by no means. I do have 2 of them. The smaller one that my SIL and I went in on, as at the time it was real pricey. Then for Mother's Day last year Hubby and my girls surprised me with the pink expression. But I mostly only use it for letters.
Now I know why I don't use it that often. It took me hours to figure out this cupcake. It had layers, so I had to figure out which buttons to use. Then I couldn't find the correct layer for the cupcake wrapper so I just cut out the whole cupcake and cut it with my zigzag scissors.
Plus I cut the cupcake out at 3" but the other layers were to big at that size so I had to fart around with the sizes to get it right.
But I do have another project in mind to use with my Cricut ;)
I heat embossed the sentiment. It says "hello cupcake!"
I know the cupcake itself isn't suppose to be pink. I think I have it down pat if I decide to make another cupcake in the future :)
My dimension shot :)

Now in order to accept this award I have to do a few things: Wear this badge proudly on your blog and share it with friends. Share this award with 10 people that you think have Cricut-tastic blogs. You also have to tell 5 cricut related things about yourself.
Things about Myself:
1. I have to rip things up before I put them to be recycled. No matter what it is, an envelope, a scrap of paper, a cardboard box. Yup I just have to do it.
2. I talk all day long. Usually to myself, but sometimes the cat comes around and then I talk to her. I think she hides most of the day, just so she doesn't have to hear me....and yes I answer myself as well.
3. I spend to much time on the computer. I check me email, Facebook and 2 peas site many times a day. I also check out blogs and YouTube.
4. I like to post on my blog in the evening, when my day is done. This is also when I reply to all the beautiful people who leave me comments :)
5. I like everything square and even. When we go to a restaurant I need the napkin and utensils to be straight, as well as those around me....ya this drives everyone crazy.
I know these may not be Cricut related, but I am still working on perfecting my skill ;)
Now to pass this onto the masters of the Cricut :)
The first one that comes to mind is Schell she is the cricut queen.
The next one that comes to mind is Mary she is following Stacy's Create a Critter Series
Now most of the other cricut masters are on YouTube.
I want to Thank everyone for their encouraging comments yesterday. I love this community, you all put a smile on my face. I am a pretty positive person and I know this will not bring me down. I have had heart disease for about 7 yrs and it hasn't stopped me from doing what I have wanted to do yet :)
You would think that I would be the last person to get heart disease as I am not a statistic. I don't smoke or drink, I am pretty active, and I am not overly over weight. But the one downfall, it is on both sides of my family.
My grandfather had a massive heart attack and died of it when he was 34 yrs old. Both my mom and dad had a heart attack at age 50. My older brother had a heart attack at age 43.
It just goes to show that Heart Disease can effect anyone.
Take care and I hope you had a creative Wednesday.
Tracy
Always thinking of you! You WILL beat the odds with the heart disease. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the award...you did a really nice job.

Very cute card! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your award. My neighbor has a cricut (for over 5 years) but has never used it so i am hoping one day to learn. I myself have a xyron wishblade and love playing with it whan i get time. Love your cupcake card. Take care, sending hugs your way.
ReplyDeleteLMAO...I can just see you fumbling with your Cricut! All those layers and buttons! I hope you weren't so frustrated it's listed in Kijiji? It turned out LOVELY! I hope you are doing OK, My Dad had his first heart attack at 31 and has many since. Big Hugs and I wish we lived closer so I could help you bang out a muffin in 5 min. That sounds preverse????
ReplyDeleteI love your cupcake card, I have a cricut but not used anywhere near enough.
ReplyDeleteI know what your saying about the heart disease, my Dad had a massive heart attack at 54 years old, He is so lucky to be still here, but his health has never been the same since, so it's good you keep everything checked out and your seeing doctors.
Happy crafting

Tracy..great card, and it took me awhile to get the hang of all the layers too. It gets easier..I promise, and fun!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea you had heart disease, please take care of yourself. I have a pacemaker and have had it since I was 23, so it's a little crazy and you are right when you say it can effect anyone. I'm glad you got some retail therapy, that always seems to help me too! ;)
Love your cricut card! I so need to use mine more but I find it a pain to use, finding the image, getting the size right, cutting all the layers. Any tips?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your cricut award..your cupcake card came out great.
ReplyDeleteYour positive attitude is so beneficial in conquering anything.
I love that you shared some of your, shall we say, "quirks!" That's when you feel you know someone.
ReplyDeleteYou shouldn't have to figure out your sizes on your cricut, unless you have the Real Dial Size setting on. If it is...turn it off. It typically creates more headaches than anything else, unless you just cutting basic letters. The default setting automatically adjusts the layer proportions to fit the base cut piece. At least that's how it's supposed to work. ;)
Sorry to hear about your medical diagnosis. I think retail therapy does a heart good. ;-) My DH has bad genes too. Not that it's any consolation, but we have to go though all the annual tests, but his heart is still good, as far as they can tell.

ReplyDeleteCute cupcake card, you had a lot of layers to deal with. Delighted to hear that someone else talks to herself and the cat. My DH makes fun of me sometimes wondering who I"m talking to. It is such a great way to sort out your thoughts.
Hugs to you as you continue with a chronic illness. Keep doing what makes you happy, it will keep you well!
(tried to post this on another post and I don't think it took)
