Packing up for a creative get away

Just for the record all of these photo's were taken by my beautiful, talented oldest daughter Ashley.
I had to share something today as all I did was, drive. Drive home from camp.
Unpack.
Drive over the border to pick up some..ahem... Copics I had ordered and some things that Heather ordered. So another almost 2 hour drive.
Then Wayne and I ran out to get groceries.
I love how she captured this flower.

I know its just a daisy and there are millions here growing in the fields. But this photo just is so pretty.

These are some pansies I have growing in an old wooden water bucket for the sauna.

Here I am just relaxing away on the air mattress :)

Most of the weekend there was a haze in the air, and every once in awhile you could smell smoke. There are still over 300 fires burning in the forests. Here is hoping that the men and women fighting these fires keep safe.

Tomorrow my friend Debbie and I go to Mink Mountain for our girls get away. We are going to create all weekend, hike the trails up the mountain, and relax in the hot tub.
I am so looking forward to this.
I have all the food together, but I still have to pack my clothes and crafting supplies.
I can tell you now, I am going to have way more bags for crafting supplies then all the other necessities that I take, lol.

A yummy day

I am sitting here and I can smell the fresh air and the clean smell from the lake. I wish I could bottle this scent.

I got to go blueberry picking this morning :)
I know this may sound weird but I really enjoy picking blueberries. It is relaxing to me.
We didn't think we would be able to this year, as the plants didn't look very good.
But we picked a ice cream bucket almost full. So about 16 + cups.
The picking wasn't the best, but we got a little bit anyway.
The day was spend relaxing. I actually had a little nap on the outside swing :)
Ashley and Kristy's boyfriends are up this weekend. We are having a few chuckles on them, lol
Here is my baby Kristy just after a swim.
Here is Ashley, all covered up.
Ashley is very pale, like me.  I am actually tanned in this photo, I am not joking.
She is smart and covers up as much as she can when out in the sun.
She looks so cute in her sun hat, she is a hat girl. All hats look good on her.
They were finding clams to have clam races.
I have no idea where they come up with these ideas.
I thought I was so prepared for this weekend. I wanted to work on my art journal page. I had a bit of an idea of what I wanted to do.
I get here then realize I didn't bring the stamps I wanted to use on it. I have to get it done early as I am off to Mink Mountain with my friend Debbie on Monday.

Then I wanted to do a few cards so I could have something to post while I was away, as there is no Internet up there.
Well my pattern papers and card stock are at home in a container. I forgot to take them with me.
So I started to colour an image last night.
I didn't get it finished though.  Mind you I should have stayed up and just finished it, as every time I closed my eyes that is all I saw.  So I didn't get a good sleep...hence the nap on the swing this afternoon ;)

I hope you are all having an excellent, creative weekend.

Nail Fun

I was cleaning out a drawer in the bathroom and realized most of my nail polishes are similar in colour.
The when I see a colour I like, the girls always tease me that I already have that colour.
Well I don't have THAT colour, but I have some close to it, teehee.
Here is Ashley's collection of nail polish.
She has a much wider range of colours :)
I put a paper in front of her books for the other photo.
Here is a small collection of her books.
We are all avid readers. Luckily for me we all seem to enjoy the same books, so they can make the rounds :)
Ashley and I have been playing around with different nail polish and fun nail techniques.
Here is one I tried.  I think it is fun to have the tips dark instead of white for a french manicure.
The tips are a purple/brown, but here they look black.
I have to run, Kristy is bugging me to go and get her boyfriend.
We are going to camp and the boyfriends are coming along.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

HeArt Journal Challenge 2nd Week

Here are my pages for the HeArt Journal Challenge that Greeting Farms is putting on.
I was pretty happy with how it turned out actually.
This scene is what I see from our cottage deck
Now I know that this may not be art journal worthy, but to bad, lol..
 Here is the first page.
I stamped the trees. I had something else in mind, but this is the only stamp I had that wasn't too huge.
There were only 2 trees on the stamp with swirls around it. So that was fun....Not.
I used embossing powder for the sand around the outer part of the lake.
Again I sponged the sky with inks.

 A bit of jounaling.
The envelope is to journal about the challenge.

Water painted the water with Stampin' Up marker. I applied the ink to a stamping block and then picked it up with my water pen.

The dock it that blue thing ;)
Can you see the deer across the lake? We see one there every so often. Plus the loons usually makes their nest on the peek of the lake.
The beach is made from sand paper.

I was out in the shed at 1:30a.m. looking for sand paper.
We don't have lights in the shed so I had to take a flash light with me. The only one I found had dead...well almost dead batteries, it had a very low light.
I'm not afraid of the dark, but I was afraid of the skunk or the raccoon that is living under the shed.
You know we still haven't seen that sucker yet. But he is still there.
I don't think that it is a skunk as we can't smell it at all.

My girlfriend Debbie invited me over for supper tonight, so we can make up our lists of what to bring on our girls vacation :)

Hope you all have had a creative day.

The end of Harry Potter

I hate when things come to an end :(
I took Heather and Kristy to see Harry Potter.
Loved it, even though I had to go to the bathroom in the middle of it. I should never drink pop when watching a movie in the theatre.

I also spent the rest of the day working. I balanced!!!!! Yahoo :)

I thought I would share a photo from camp.
This spider made her web by the front door, against the Hydro meter. I think she was so neat and pretty, look at her colours. I named her Charlotte :)
Kristy and Hubby wanted to kill her, but I wouldn't let them. But she did mysteriously disappear the next day.

So I am watching a movie with hubby. Then going to work on my Challenge for the Greeting Farm's HeArt Journal challenge.
I have an idea of what I want to do, but not sure if it will turn out how I have it pictured in my head.
The challenge is Assignment: Create a free-spirit spread (two-pages) using the concept of Sand, Sun, Beach, etc. This could be a tribute page to a past vacation, or some sort of paradise, beach-related.
They also suggested adding some texture to our page.

Wish me luck.

Chicken in a Pocket

One of Ashley's co-workers/friends, Janus, just came back from Hong Kong. She lived there and then came here to Canada for school. Well she had just came back from visiting her family and friends there.
She brought back Ashley a beautiful dress and an Ipod cover (for her birthday).
She had also brought back her co-workers some of this. It is a chicken wing in a pocket.
Ashley knew that we would find this interesting, so she brought one home for us to try.
 Ashley opening the wrapper.
 Tadaaa....here it is.
Its congealed
We all had a bite. You know, it tasted like smoked chicken.
We ate it cold, it should have been warmed up first.
I worked most of the day.
I did some running around as well.

Oh ya, funny story:
Last night at about 5:00am, it was dark in the room, but I could see a bit of light around the blinds of the window in our bedroom.
I noticed that the window was on the wrong side of the room. I was disoriented.
I thought I was having a stroke or something.
Then I felt the bed beside me, Yup Hubby was there.
That woke him up. "Whats the matter?"
I asked him "Are we at home?"
"Yes" he answered.
With us up at camp the window is beside me. At home it is by Wayne's side of the bed.
LOL, I forgot I was at home.

At least it wasn't as bad as when Hubby forgot we were at camp and got lost in the bedroom.
I woke up to him saying "Hey Trace, could you turn on the light. I have to pee (he didn't say that exactly, lol) and can't find the door"
LOL. He was facing the wall by the closet when I turned on the light.
I kept laughing the rest of the night.

Hope you all had a creative day, I hope to get one soon :)

Back to Reality

Today is my BIL's 60th Birthday. We celebrated last night with some cake and ice-cream at our cottage.
Here is the card I made him.
I used 4 different stamps to make this card.
The faux stamp is popped up with foam tape.
I am not overly excited with how this card turned out. Actually I don't think I even like it, lol.
But he just throws them away after, so no biggie.
Remember last week when I cleaned up my scrap room.
This is what I found :)
Well not exactly....it HAD a chocolate bar in it when I found it, lol.
I had wondered where it went. I had thought one of the girls (or more like Hubby) had found it and claimed it as their own.
This was my view most of the day today.
We came home from camp and went straight to the "Pit".
Heather had to grease the trucks.
Hubby was excited to go on his bulldozer.
And I did some of my book work.
Yes that is 2 cans of pop you see there. I was in there working for about 8 hours.
At least I had air conditioning, they didn't.
I have a very busy week. I sure hope I get everything completed.
I am going for a girls weekend with my friend, Debbie, next Monday. We do this every year. I think we have been doing this for the last 10 years.

Hope your Monday was a creative one.
