Back to school, back to school....

Today was the first day of Grade 11 for my baby. Doesn't she look happy :)

She is the last one of my girls still in school. She is unsure of what exactly she wants to do after highschool.

She is thinking of taking a culinary course. She is the cook in the family....must have got that from hubby ;)

I tell her not to worry so much about after highschool, I still don't know what I want to do when I grow up ;)

 I was putting some finishing touches on something I am putting together for Nicoles blog, Canadian Nickel Scrapn. Every Wednesday Nicole features a guest designer on her blog.
Nicole asked me if I wanted to participate. What an honour to be featured on her blog. She is an awesome card and altered items artist.

I actually spent the whole day at home today...oh wait I did go out to pick up some take out. I know bad eh. I bought some macosins booties when we were on our trip. These are so comfortable, plus they have a rubber sole. I forgot to take them off when I went out, lol. Good thing I just went through the drive-thru.

I received a letter today from my cardiologists receptionist. Not only did they cancel my appointment for the end of this month, but it also stated that he is off indefinately.

So I phoned and she told me he is ill. I hope it isn't to bad. Doctors aren't suppose to get sick.

She will know more next month. She did say that she could refer me to another cardiologist. But I am hoping I won't have to do that.

Today would have been my dad's 72nd birthday. He was not one for birthday's, but he would send me flowers for mine every year. I think I will pick me up some flowers tomorrow.

I tell you that girl can make some awesome cards. She is so detailed and her cards are so pretty, not to mention her amazing colouring.

Now to accept this award I need to answer some questions about myself.

Q1) Name your favorite colour

Burgundy. But it has to be the right colour burgundy. It has to have the right amount of red in it.
Q2) Name your favorite song?
This is so hard as I don't have a favourite song. I love all types of music.
Right now I am really loving Eminem's new CD.

Q3) Name your favorite dessert?
This one is even harder. I love all desserts :)
I love my blueberry cheesecake.

Q4) What wizzes you off at the moment?
Wizzes, lol.
I get ticked off by mean people. I don't understand how anyone can enjoy making someone else feel bad.

Q5) Your favorite pet?
You know I have to say Rose our cat.
But I loved Hubby's cat Veikko, and I had a mini poodle, Sheba, when I was 15 my mom gave me as a Birthday gift.

Q6) Black or White?
Neither, I like colour.
To me nothing is a black or white issue.

Q7) Your biggest fear?
My hubby or my daughters getting sick.
Q8) Best Feature?
Hubby says its my.......
I think it may be my imagination.

Q9) Everyday attitude?
To find something good in everything.
Look around you, there is beauty all around us, we just have to keep our eyes open.

Is there such a thing?
Sitting at our cottage with my family, reading a book, smelling the fresh air and listening to Wayne and my girls laughing

I made a cool card, but I don't think I can show you it, as I had to alter the stamped image. I think that is against the stamps policy....but just know it turned out awesome, lol.

Thankful Tuesday:
-I was able to enjoy taking Kristy out for brunch for a last day of freedom before school starts tomorrow.
-I waited on hold for an hour, but got our cell phone company to take off the $500.00 of roaming fees they charged us.
-I lost my dollar in the pop machine, but the manager gave me a free cold one from their cooler
-I got to enjoy 2 creepy movies with hubby tonight

Who wouldn't be comforted by these cuties

I made this card for my FIL, Ray and his wife Joy. They just lost their cat Molly. Molly was 14 yrs old and it was a shock when her time came.

I used this stamp that I bought while we were on our trip.

I thought this image was perfect for this card.

 I coloured the sentiment stamp with my Stampin' Up markers before I stamped it.
I only had a black ink pad with me. So these markers worked perfectly.

 Lets take another look at this adorable image shall we.
I coloured it in with my Copic markers.
I am trying to keep track of which colours I use on which cards.
So far I am just writing them on a scrap piece of paper. Any better ideas?
I was thinking of printing out tiny pictures of my cards and then adhering them to say, a recipe card with the colours documented beside them.
What do you think?
Would you like me to post the colours I use on future projects?
To many questions for a Monday, lol.

Onto My Day:
We had to leave the cottage early as we had to bring Heather to grease the trucks. Of course the weather was beautiful.
As she was greasing, Hubby went to bulldoze and I did my bookwork. Month end is almost complete :)
Now Hubby and I are watching War of the Worlds for the 100th time, lol.
We tend to re-watch movies that we enjoy....not just twice, but many times.

It Hearts Me :)

Look at this mushroom I found walking around our cottage.

I thought is was so neat.

Wayne bought a new chainsaw to cut the dead or overhanging branches off of the trees. Funny thing is it didn't work very well. Until him and his dad realized that the manufacturer put the blade on upside down, lol.
So after they cut the brush they burned it. There sure was a lot of smoke. I was surprised a water bomber didn't fly by.
So after the brush was burned we put on some fire wood and toasted some marshmallows and had some smores :)

We were going to take the dock out, but it was so chilly today.
So we decided to wait until next weekend.
I hate taking out the dock, that is the first sign that summer is coming to an end :(

Late Bloomer....by a year

It was a nice day up at our cottage today. Funny weather though. It would be beautiful, then cool down then rain. Then it would start all over again.

A great day to relax and create, which I did :)

I planted the seeds to these sweet peas last year, but nothing came of them.

But this year they sure took off. They smell so nice as well.

They are growing in an old wooden sauna bucket :)

 Charlotte is still snuggled in her cocoon.
I did tap it to see if she was still alive, Yup she moved when I did that.
Oh ya and I took a picture of her by they meter, so you all know she isn't hiding in some one's crack, lol

We had some company up at the cottage today.

First Sonja our American neighbour came by. She broke her ankle and had to go back home to get pins put in and a plate. But she got her niece to drive her up here. She lives at her cottage during the summer. She is over 70 and hasn't missed a summer yet. It is so beautiful here, I can see why she wanted to come back.

Blake (Kristy's boyfriend) his mom and his little brother came to visit for a few hours as well.

They camp about a half an hour from us, so decided to come for a visit.

I am sure Blake bugged his mom until she caved though....young love ;)

Rained all evening.

A Birthday card for ?

Happy Friday :)
I am so happy the weekend is here. I plan on going to our cottage and relaxing ALL weekend long.
I know we need to split some wood and pile it but that's minor.
Here is a birthday card I made for..not sure who yet.
Its Ashley's boyfriend, Tyler's, birthday this weekend, but I just don't think this is the type of card for him ;)

I coloured this cute CC Designs image with my Copics. I love those stamps....oh who am I kidding, I love all stamps ;)
              
 I stamped the bench on wood pattern paper and then shaded it with good ol' Copics.
I used the Martha Stewart deep edge punch for the lattice, I also coloured the bottom of the lattice to look like grass.

 I used a die to cut out the post for the sign, then fussy cut around the stamped Birthday greeting.
                
Onto My Day:
I stayed up until 3:00am working, I wanted to get the billing part done because I was planning to spend the day with my nephew and my sister. As we thought he was going to get his jaw done today.
Well as it turned out my sister had to go see a doctor first. Which turned out to be an orthodontist. I think the guy scammed her. The guy told her that Eric (my nephew) needed braces and his wisdom teeth pulled when he examined him in emergency.
Well that is what the appointment was for ($150.00 later).
I told her before she went that it was Bull----. You don't have to pay to get your sons jaw fixed.
But you do have to pay for any cosmetic work that needs to be done.

So hopefully the poor kid will get this done tomorrow. Sadly I won't be there for them though.

Week 6 He-Art Journal and Thankful Thursday

I'm still here :)

Thank you for the sweet comments from yesterdays post. I feel loved that you all would miss my blog if it didn't come back :) You all put a smile on my face and love in my heart.

Today is Week 6 of the He-Art Journal Challenge.

WEEK 6 - Text Me! (using lots of text)

Assignment: Create a spread or a page using mainly text and lettering! This includes numbers, symbols, handwritten or typed, phrases, etc. Use any stamps you want, colors, etc. Not necessary to use any TGF stamps, this is YOUR journal, do what you want cuz you rule that journal!

Here are my pages.
Last week I did a page full of text. If you don't remember here it is. Week 5. So when I read this assignment I was kind of bummed. So I came up with a plan. I was going to draw an angle (I wanted to try my hand at drawing and colouring a flowing dress). Then she was going to have words written in her dress and in her hair and she was going to be blowing inspirational words out to the wind.
Ya this turned out nothing like I planned, lol.

 Here is the 1st page.When I was on YouTube the other day, I saw an artist who drew beautiful fairies and angles. So I wanted to try my hand at drawing.

I know I am no artist but I had fun trying to draw her.
I coloured her in with my Copic markers.

 I couldn't find my white pen.
So what I did on the words was I wrote them out with my embossing pen, then heat embossed them with white embossing powder.

Onto My Day:
I worked all day long. Pretty exciting eh?
My butt is actually sore from sitting on it all day, lol.
Hubby and I did get some groceries for camp/cottage this long weekend. I am so looking forward to going up there. We really haven't been up there a lot this summer, and summer is coming to an end :(

I got a text from my sister that my nephew broke his jaw yesterday.
The hospital told her it was just dislocated, but to come by the hospital today to get a cat scan. Then they tell her no its broke. It was a clean break, so he needs to get his jaw wired shut. Luckily he doesn't need pins or anything that drastic. Poor kid, its his first year of high school starting next week.
So tomorrow I will go with them when he goes in the hospital to get this done.

Thankful Thursday:
My nephew didn't hurt himself worse then he did.
