Day in Photos and Day 19

My Day in Photos.
I had a busy day today.
It all started with a stop at CAA for some travel insurance.
Then to the bank to pick up some foreign money.
Then Heather, Kristy and I stopped for lunch at the food court in the mall.
Yes we had poutine again.
After this weekend I will eat healthier, I promise.
But it did get a water instead of a pop. I haven't had a can of Coke all week :)

When we left the mall, we had to run through this.
It was pouring. I mean Pouring.
Like you clothes are soaked from running 80 feet.

As I was looking for the perfect travel purse I flipped over this one to find a huge sticker on the bottom, lol.
I wonder how long this has been stuck here. I don't even know where it came from...its not mine, that I know, lol.

I picked up this movie today.
You know I love my zombie movies :)
But these are more like "infected" not zombies.
If you are a zombie lover as we are here in this family, then you will know what I mean.
But either way it was a good movie.

Day #19 "Planner Caddy"
This is not only my caddy for my planner, I also use if for my Smash book, journals and take it with me when we go to the cottage for making my cards, as it has my trimmer and adhesives in here as well.

An after thought here. Did anyone else update their phones to ISO 7?  If you didn't..don't do it.
I never do any updates, Wayne does them for me. Well yesterday an update came and I did it.
Wish I didn't.
I don't like the looks of it. Everything is grey and boring.
Some of the ways to get to certain things have changed. I am not one for change.
Plus I can't seem to upload photos to my Instagram. I click on the photo and it takes me back to the main page.
Not impressed.
But then again, I am not a gadget girl and like things easy peasy :)

Paper Storage and Day #18

I think I have finally completed my paper organization.
I said "think", because I thought I was finished it earlier today and then found some more card stock. Sure it was 8.5x11, but I still had to organize it.

I am planning to do a video on this in the future, but for today, I will share with you what I did.
I picked up these 3 bins for under $3.00 each.
The first bin holds my regular paper pads.
The second bin holds my vintage type paper pads.
The last bin holds my paper kits or speciality paper, velum, 12x12 die cut papers ect.

In the first white shelving unit I have my mini albums, some journals and chipboard books in the basket.
In the second white shelving unit I have 6x6 paper pads and my girl stamps on the bottom.
The third shelving unit holds the same as the second one.
I may change these around, we will see how it works as I go.
One of the best things about this is I only had to buy the bins as I had everything.
The other thing that is great about this is all my paper (except for my papers that I had separated by colour) are all here right in the open where I (and my friends) can see them :)

Day #18 "By Your Drink"
I would rather be enjoying a nice cold glass of Coca Cola, but since I am cutting that out and trying to be more healthy, I had to settle for a cold glass of water in my Coca Cola glass :)

Flower Bed Clean Up, a movie and Day 17

I finally got a chance to work on my other front flower bed.
Well, I am not sure if you could call it a flower bed as there is not one flower in it, lol.
This is my overgrown, full of weeds and other plants..or trees that shouldn't be in there front bed.
It really needed a good go through.

First thing I did was pull...and pull...and  pull all the weeds and bush and pine tree seedlings out of there.
I had to cut some of the stocks of the plants. The one plant actually grows off the root shoots, so you can't really pull them out.
I even had to take out a couple of blocks to get to some roots.
Here is my discard pile...it actually looks like another tree, lol.  The bucket was just not big enough.

Here it is all nice and neat and clean.
I had to glue my little birdhouse together. I painted this birdhouse years ago and it has weathered pretty well.
I see my "Welcome" sign needs a bit of touch up. I had painted a Welcome sign for each season quite a few years ago.
The birds will be happy as I filled up their bird seed gazebo :)

I went out to dinner with two of my friends, Lynne and Denise.
Not only did we go out for dinner we also took in a movie.
We went to see The Family. It was pretty good, there were a few dull parts, but all in all it was pretty good.

Day #17 "Creative"
I wasn't sure what to do for today, so I thought I would share my pages for next week.
I am hoping to add some colour to this page with my pens and hoping to colour an image or two :)

Day 16 and Cement blocks 101

Day #16
"Supplies"
I use these supplies not only for my planner, but also for my Smash book, my journals and I take all this with me when we go away to the cottage for the weekend.
Let me tell you what is here.

I have my washi tape in the the two end containers. These containers are really neat as they clip on top of each other and there is a top lid that clips on here with a handle.
In the centre I have my travel tote. It is really a tool tote, but whatever works..right. And this works awesomely for me.
It houses my pens, some inks, stamps, sticky notes, flags, journal cards, my smash book and journals.

It was a beautiful day to work outside. It was sunny, but not hot. Actually it was a bit cool, perfect day for some yard work.
But I didn't get to my yard work, I did Ashley's.

The previous owners didn't tend to the flower bed and it was so overgrown, we didn't know what was a weed or a plant. Plus it was full of sod.
So day 4 of Ashely purchasing her house, she and her crew, tore it up.
Here is what her front flower bed looked like since that day.
It has looked like this for a few weeks. Every time I am there I just cringe.
I actually couldn't wait to have time to get my hands dirty with this project :)

The blocks are in good shape, and to cut costs down we used the same blocks...we, lol. I worked on this all by my lonesome, lol.
The first thing I did was reshape the bed.
They had a funny shape to it. The girls called it a bum shape, lol.
So I cut into the bed and cut away the sod to make it straight and then curve up to the house.
I then lay down a layer of crusher fines for the blocks to sit on.
I had a bit of a setback, as I used all the crusher fines I had.
So called Wayne to bring me some...working at a gravel pit has its advantages ;)
Then I started laying down the blocks.

I found a nice long straight piece of lumber to push the blocks against so they would all be even.
That piece of wood/lumber is just there as a gauge, I take it out when the first layer is complete.

As I am putting down the blocks I make sure each one is level from front to back and side to side.
If not, then I add or take away some crusher fines from under the block.
This is very time consuming.
But very important. This is like you base layer, so you want it to be perfect.
So I used a level to make sure all was perfect and again I used that wood to make sure the blocks were even to each other.

Now the easy part.
Putting down the top layer.
Because everything is nice and level, all I had to do was put the top blocks in place :)
All 40 of them!!!
Ashley came home from work just in time to see me putting away my tools, lol.
Now the fun part....getting the soil ready for some pretty plants.
Now I just need to find some really nice top soil :)






















As I did this, Kristy and Heather were putting together Ashley's new bed that Wayne and I picked up for her from the border.
Doesn't the white headboard look gorgeous against that blue wall.
Her room is in the upstairs and it has the slanted ceilings...believe me when I tell you she measured this many times, to make sure it would fit before she ordered it ;)
She is staying in her guest room, which she calls Heather and Kristy's room, while she is working on her bedroom and dressing room.
It is so neat to see it all coming together :)
Oh ya I put those base boards back on...before I worked on her flower bed ;)

Flower Beds need a tending

The leaves are changing colours, fall is on its way.

We left the cottage early today because Ashley needed our help.
She wanted Wayne to go and help her pick up a lawn mower and some paving stones.
When they were gone I wanted to work on Ashley's front flower bed, as they tore it apart as it was full of sod and weeds.

Ashley had a bed delivered to the border as it was free to be shipped there. Where as it was  $450.00 to be delivered to Canada...crazy.
The store didn't have enough paving stones for Ashley.
Because they couldn't do the the paving stones, Wayne decided to that we should drive to the border to pick up Ashley's bed.
So lots of driving today.

I thought it was kind of funny that I was taking care of Ashley's flower bed, when mine is so neglected, lol.
A bit over grown, weeds galore and I can't tell which bush is which.

Look, I even have a raspberry bush...that I never even planted. But I see the animals have enjoyed them :)

I even have a pine tree taking root.
How long does it take a tree to get 6" high?
Well thats the last time it was weeded.
But as I went looking for my other gardening gloves I couldn't find them. Then remembered I had both pairs at Ashley's house.
I have thorn bushes so high and thick, I can't pull them out without my gloves, lol.
I hope the weather is nice tomorrow as I plan on working on both mine and Ashley flower beds :)

Day #15
"Leaning Tower of Planners"
As you can see I only use/have one planner.
But I do use my iPad for lists (notes) and I journal about our weekend at the cottage on the drive home.
I used to have about 10 note books for 10 different things. My planner has helped me narrow it down to just this one book.
Plus I keep my planner in the same area, so I know where it is when I need it. Not like my 10 note books floating around the house ;)

Taking out the chill

It was pretty chilly when we got to the cottage last night, so Wayne put on a nice toasty fire in the wood stove.

We have started to slowly close up the cottage for the year.

We covered up the docks, piled wood in the wood shed and I brought plenty of wood inside the cottage for when we come out in the winter. 

But with a view like this who wants to say goodbye to the season. 

Look at the reflection of the trees on the lake.

We will be back here to turn off the water in a week or two.

If Wayne wasn't a hunter we would still come out here in October, maybe push it to November. 

Look at this chubby little guy. 

He watched us the whole time we were covering up the docks.

Organizing my Cardstock

Today I worked on organizing my card stock.

I am so glad that I have a huge pool table to lay everything out on. 

Heather saw all the colours spread out and loved how beautiful the colours were.

I did get all the card stock organized and put away. Such a nice accomplishment. I still have more papers to organize, but at least the card stock is complete. 

As I was still working on my papers, Heather and Kristy cooked dinner. They made spegetti squash, chicken, sausages and cooked veggies. Yummy, and I didn't have to cook...bonus.

As Heather was cooking she was getting frustrated with my spice cupboard. So she decided to organize it. Double bonus ;)

I sure have a lot of spices for a person that doesn't care to cook, lol.

Day#13

"Selfie with your Planner"

This is one challenge day photo, I wasn't looking forward to. 

But I'm a stickler for rules and I didn't want to miss a day.
