Day 11 Remembrance Day

Today is Remembrance Day.
It is also day 11 of 30 Days of thankfulness.
A day to remember and honour those who have fought for our freedom.
I would like to thank all those that have put their life on the line for our freedom…Thank you

Every year in school we had to memorize and recite the poem "In Flanders Fields".

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks still bravely singing fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead: Short days ago,
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved: and now we lie
In Flanders fields!
Take up our quarrel with the foe
To you, from failing hands, we throw
The torch: be yours to hold it high
If ye break faith with us who die,
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields
Composed at the battlefront on May 3, 1915
during the second battle of Ypres, Belgium

I had a visit today from 2 of my friends.
They really enjoyed checking out my creative goodies :)
I hope you all had a wonderful Remembrance Day
Tracy :)

  1. awesome post:):) ducking my head, I should have put something up too. glad you did!!!! Yes cake I'll ost a pic if it turns out:)

  2. I remember learning that poem, too!

  3. Great post Tracy, it was mandatory we memorized that poem in school, I wonder if they still do? I feel bad I didn't even mention Remembrance day on my blog yesterday. I did watch the service from Ottawa.

  4. Great post, Tracy!
I just realized though after seeing your post title and the date, that I labeled mine wrong today! For some reason I was thinking it's day 11, but it's 12. Need to go fix that!

  5. I hope you had a good day :) I remember last year's post too. Glad your friends stopped by to see your goodies!

  6. This is a beautiful post, Tracy. I love the poem that you shared.

  7. My great uncle (who passed away a few years ago) used to talk about the war- it made Remembrance day more personal and meaningful for me.

Leave me some love and I will return it right back to you :)
