Flowers

Today would have been my dad's 71st birthday.

I was feeling a little down so I bought myself some flowers. I have never done that before, I only have got flowers from my dad, so I figured it was fitting.

It poured today. It came down in buckets. It was a day that I would have liked to stay in bed all day. But good for me my girlfriend (she is more like a sister) came by to see me. Shirley lived with our family off and on for many years. Her dad (a single father) and my dad worked together. So they went out of town together for shut downs. And when they did I got my friend back. She lived with us, we shared a bedroom our family was hers. I love this girl :) I have known her since I was in the 1st grade. We even went to the same schools at times.

I went to the Social Insurance Office to change my name on my Social Insurance card. I still have it in my maiden name. Ya I know I have been married for over 22 years and still haven't changed my name on this. Maybe it was a way to keep some of my independent identity LOL. So anyway I was all prepared waited in one line for them to tell me to wait in the other area and someone will call me. As it turned out I needed my original Marriage Certificate not a copy. Guess I will be going back tomorrow.

The reason I am finally changing it is because the forms for my dad's life insurance came and they put someone else's name on it not his. When I phoned them about it they were all laid back not seeming to worried. I told them to look into it as the other person is waiting for their forms as well. So I figured in order not to confuse these people anymore than they are, I should change my SIN.

Can I turn back Time... please.

I started this book last night and finished it today. Just because I read it quickly doesn't mean it was a book that I loved.
I almost didn't read it. I forced myself to get past the first few chapters. What is up with me lately?
This is the only other book I brought with me to camp so I picked it up again.
It was a story about 2 sisters and a male friend who grow up together during their summer's on the Island. It was kind of a cat and mouse love story...which I don't care for. Actually I am not one for mushy romance.
I wanted to read it because it took place in the summer and thought it would be more geared towards the sister's relationship.
There were a few discrepancy's, like the dad turned off and drained the water from under the house, came out dirty then took a shower, What the water was turned off for the year...do your research LOL.

I woke up to this scene this morning. Isn't it mysterious. The sun was out but the mist on the lake was thick and moving fast. So neat to see.
We won't be going to camp next weekend as we are heading off to Minneapolis. Yeah, I can't wait. Hope Ashley gets the day off work, so we can all go.
As I was saying I am making some Thank You cards for the kind friends that sent food and such when my dad passed away. I used my new stamp set. I saw this idea on Donna's blog.
I didn't have my acrylic block or my paper trimmer or even a straight edge ruler, LOL. It is 3x3 in size. I have made 3 of them so far. I then read some where that Canada Post won't mail out anything this small. I guess I had better find out before I do anymore.
I used pigment ink, boy that stuff smears easy. Its good for embossing but not if you want something to dry right away. But this is the only ink I had in this colour.
So what do you think? Hubby and I are going to finally watch a movie. Not sure when the last time we have watched a movie together. My shows should be on tonight, Hoarders, Intervention and Obsessed but not to sure if I can stay up late enough to watch them tonight.

Kristy starts school tomorrow. Wow my baby is in grade 10 this year. Where did the time go. Seriously Where the Hell did the Time Go!!!

Summer is coming to an End :(

I almost didn't finish this book. I have read a few of her books and liked them. Well this one was hard to get into. Maybe it was just me, but the characters (even though they are the same as always) didn't seem real to me. Everyone loved Eve Duncan, everyone knew what everyone else was thinking...blah, blah, blah.
Well I picked it up again in the afternoon because the storyline interested me.
I read the whole book today. Once I got past the first few chapters, the story sucked me in. The ending was exciting and I couldn't put it down.
What was scary was the authors picture inside the cover, wow she sure changed since the last book of hers I read.
Lois (the owner of the motel) gave me a recipe book that she put together. She got all her favourite blueberry recipes and those of her family's and put them all in this recipe card sized cook book. How thoughtful of her to give me one.

You can tell summer is coming to a close when we get the wood splitter out. We even had the girls help us pile the wood. Isn't it nice to see them hard at work :) Even though Hubby paid them for this later on teehee.

Every year we do a treasure hunt for the girls.

When they were younger we would fill a container with all kinds of junk food and sweets and bury it in the sand. I would give out clues and they would follow them to find the treasure.

One year we even made them use a compass. My dad helped them with that one, teehee. Now that they are older they seem to appreciate money as the treasure.

So this year no treats just the treasure. Its not as fun as when they were younger.

Maybe my nephew Tom will continue the tradition when he gets older.

I wasn't feeling the best last night, so I went to bed very early. Hubby went fishing and woke me up to show me his catch. He loves to share LOL.

I did play with my new stamp set this after noon. But I forgot my acrylic block to put my stamps on. I put them on the plastic case to stamp, but they would fall off LOL. I will have to really play when I get home.

We also took out the dock this afternoon. Yup summer is winding down :(

It a cold one today

Today we went for lunch at Ignace. It is about a half hour drive from our cottage.
Kristy and Heather came up to camp with us. Since the restaurant is closed for the season (until the hunters come that is) we decided to treat them. We also had to get propane for the BBQ. I checked out some of the gift shops, not too much in them though.
Oh ya I think Wayne spent about $40.00 in here on junk food the girls picked out LOL.
I spent the rest of the day trying to upload this post.
The motel lets us use their internet for a small fee. I usually just drive the quad up and then prop my laptop on the back seat while I face the opposite way on the front seat. Which works out fine...except for the sun reflecting off the screen.
So I came down the first time and got in the shade and set up. Well I couldn't find my cursor in the light, then after a while my fingers got to cold, so I headed back.
Then I warmed up and went to try again.
I visited with Louis (the owner of the motel) and paid her for this months use for the internet. Then she told me to go in the breakfast room as it is getting to cold out. How sweet of her.
So I set up my laptop and started to download my pictures. Well then my battery died...GGGGRRRRRR.
So went back and charged my battery. And well here I am.
Determined aren't I? LOL.

The sun has been out all day, but it is chilly. We want to take the dock out of the water this weekend as the girls are here to help us. Hope it warms up.
Kristy starts school this Tuesday, so I know the girls probably won't come up again with us until winter.

Long weekend here I come :)

I worked all day again today. Unfortunately I still have to post and balance, but the billing is done :)
As I worked Heather got me hooked on the TV series "Bones". I love this show. The actors play the characters perfectly. It reminds me of House but the patients are dead.
I usually don't like watching TV series as I have to wait a week for the next episode. I would rather wait for the whole series to come out on DVD. Heather has the DVD's of this series, all of them except for the new ones of course.

On our drive up to camp we saw a lot of trains. They were heading toward each other, I know there were 2 separate tracks but from our view point it looked like they were going to collide.
It rained the whole drive up and then quit just as we got to camp. The trees looked so bright compared to the dark sky. The photo doesn't show this as much though.

Here are some flowers I had planted. There aren't too many left due to the colder weather we have had the last couple of days. We actually had to put a fire in the wood stove when we got up here as the cottage was chilly.
I guess summer is coming to a close :(

I worked all day today, how fun am I? LOL
I ordered this stamp set last week and received it today :) I am going to make some Thank You cards for all the caring people that sent food, flowers and sent donations to the Arthritis society.
Isn't this just a beautiful set.
Kristy's boyfriend, Blake, came by and they watched movies today. I invited his mom in for some tea. I don't really drink tea but I added milk and sugar and it was fine. Not as good as a cold can of Coke though, LOL. She was real nice.

It was quite chilly today. The last few days it has been very hot high 20's but with the humid ex it was in the high 30's low 40's. Today was a shock to my system, it was only 15. I prefer the warmer temp's.

Thankful Thursday.
1. My family being healthy.
2. Being able to enjoy the company of someone new.
3. Being able to work at home.
4. Ashley driving herself to work, so I can get an hour more sleep :)

Finished another novel-Glass-

I finished this book tonight.
It was a continuation of the book "Crank"
It is 681 pages. Much like the character was addicted to her drug I am addicted to reading Ellen Hopkins books. I have read all her books, looking forward to some new ones in the near future.
I will give this one a 8 out of 10

Today was spent working and dreaming. Working on billing customers and dreaming about some creating I want to do.
Now in a perfect world I would get paid for creating, now doesn't that feel good.

I did go for a evening walk with my neighbour Lynn. We go for about an hour walk. Funny how when you walk with someone how the time goes by.

Last night we spent some time with Ashley's new boyfriend. He is a nice guy. Answered all our questions LOL. Ashley teased him that we were going to grill him with questions. I think he was nervous as we let him wait it out for a few days, but we let him off easy, LOL.

Can't wait to create. Hope you got some creating done today :)
