It poured today. It came down in buckets. It was a day that I would have liked to stay in bed all day. But good for me my girlfriend (she is more like a sister) came by to see me. Shirley lived with our family off and on for many years. Her dad (a single father) and my dad worked together. So they went out of town together for shut downs. And when they did I got my friend back. She lived with us, we shared a bedroom our family was hers. I love this girl :) I have known her since I was in the 1st grade. We even went to the same schools at times.
I went to the Social Insurance Office to change my name on my Social Insurance card. I still have it in my maiden name. Ya I know I have been married for over 22 years and still haven't changed my name on this. Maybe it was a way to keep some of my independent identity LOL. So anyway I was all prepared waited in one line for them to tell me to wait in the other area and someone will call me. As it turned out I needed my original Marriage Certificate not a copy. Guess I will be going back tomorrow.
The reason I am finally changing it is because the forms for my dad's life insurance came and they put someone else's name on it not his. When I phoned them about it they were all laid back not seeming to worried. I told them to look into it as the other person is waiting for their forms as well. So I figured in order not to confuse these people anymore than they are, I should change my SIN.
Tuesday.. So what have you done today to make you feel proud.
I did something nice for myself today.
Tracy
So glad you had a good friend to lean on during a difficult day.
ReplyDeleteIt's great when a friend is like family. Lovely flowers

Hi Tracy
ReplyDeleteI stopped by to say thank you for visiting my blog and leaving me such a lovely message.
I am so sorry to hear that you are feeling the loss of your father today.
I know that after losing my first husband 15 years ago that it does take some time for the memories to stop being painful and start to become comforting.
In the mean time I send you hugs and hope that you continue to be kind to yourself.
Michelle :-)
Awww...big hugs. The flowers are beautiful, and I'm sure your dad would have approved.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of SIN cards...mine still has my maiden name on it, too. It's just as well....I'd have confused them with all those name changes. heehee.
Lovely flowers and glad you treated yourself, so pleased we don't have to change SIN numbers I am with Marlooney here too many name changes lol
ReplyDeleteAgain I'm sorry about your dad. My dad sends me flowers too, usually for mother's day. It's nice to have a good friend like that. I'm barely in touch with any of my childhood friends. We moved around so much when I was a kid it was hard to ever stay in touch. It's funny - I changed my name on everything official right away. I didn't want to have to do it during the school year. But I keep forgetting to actually use the new name!
ReplyDeleteThis is where I sigh in jealousy of not having social insurance to begin with. Yes, we have the social security cards, but that won't do me a lick of good by the time the boomers eat up all the funds. *sigh* Your flowers are gorgeous! I think that it was a GREAT idea for you to buy them for yourself on this day! Your dad is smiling!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea getting flowers Tracy, they are LOVELY! Big hug from a few provinces away.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers, Tracy! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteTracy your flowers are so pretty, you should treat yourself with them more often.
ReplyDeleteHappy crafting
Tracy x

ReplyDeleteSorry about your dad, but the flowers seem very fitting, and a good way to remember your dad.
