Card Questions answered and a video

I have received a few questions on my cards.
So today I am going to focus on my card sizes and the papers I use.
My go to sizes are 5 1/2x5 1/2.
I also make cards in 5 1/2x4 1/4.
Here are the cards with the bases I cut, behind them to show the comparison.

I did a video that goes into more detail.
Onto My Day:
I slept in....ohhh the pleasure of not having to get up early.
Hubby woke up early to go hunting and got another deer before 9:30 this morning. Then his nephew got a moose. So they are done hunting for the year.

I made a card today, and two videos.
The videos took forever, boy I have a lot of bloopers I had to cut out. But don't think I can share them in one of my blooper videos as the language is a bit..... colourful, lol.

Card and Turkey Day

Happy World Card Making Day :)

Sadly I was unable to play along as I was in the kitchen cooking up a storm.
But I still have a card to share with you that I had made last night.
I think taking photos of my cards outside is coming to an end. It is starting to get a bit dismal outside...and we had snow today!!!

I actually coloured this cute little CC Design image at the cottage, and then put her on a card last night.
See those pretty blue raindrops...they actually started out as a flower. I just broke the flower apart to make the sparkly raindrops :)
I used my cloud punch and then inked around the edges of it with distress ink.
You can't tell by this photo, but the whole background was coloured with a light blue Copic marker.

I wanted to show the dimension to the cloud.
I used foam tape and double stacked it. 

 Look what a good girl I am. I actually remembered to document the colours again :)
Because I coloured this in advance, I knew I would forget which image these markers went with, so I put the image in with the markers....sometimes I am so clever I scare myself, teehee.















And the inside of my card.
I love that I only had one teeny tiny piece of pattern paper left over and it was so small, I gave myself permission to let it go.

Onto My Day:
Like I said I was in the kitchen all day, so I was unable to make a card.
The reason being is, because every year I have Thanksgiving dinner for my family.
Sadly my sister was unable to come....but I got her kids, and my brother and Sister N Sister in law came as well. The reason I call her my Sister N sister in law. Is she is Wayne's sister, but she married my brother.....so she is my sister in law twice ;)
My niece is spending the night, I think she misses us....well I think she misses my girls. :)

Wayne went hunting and got his deer about an hour out, which made him very happy.
I don't like wild game. But the girls and Wayne do, so he is heading out again tomorrow.

I plan on spending most of tomorrow in my scrap/craft room :)

Tea Mouse

I made this card for a friend of mine.
I have yet to mail it out.....lets say it together....procrastinator ;)
When I saw this fun stamp I knew I had to play with it, and I knew exactly who I wanted to give this to.
You will see why I was so excited about it in a bit ;)

 I stamped and coloured directly on the die cut shape.
I coloured the cute mouse with my Copics.
I then paper pieced the the little mouse girl's dress. I then coloured her sash with the copics, right on top of the pattern paper.
I was hoping that the "To my friend" looked like a tea bag.

Look, I even remembered to keep the Copics out so you can see the colours I used :)

Now this is why I was so excited about this stamp set.
It not only had the cute mouse stamp and sentiments, but it also had these stamps to make the accordion coffee cup and the mouse peeking out of it.
I used the honeycomb papers to make this, it was so fun to work with :)
I am also going to make a small pocket for the inside to put a tea bag in.
I am not happy with the colouring of the mouse on the inside. But the Copic markers would have bled through to the back, so I had to use the only thing that we had at the cottage...some old crayola markers.
















Onto My Day:
I had to do some odds and ends with my book work.
Then ran out to pick up a few groceries, as we are having our Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow.

Tonight is the first night back to my Friday Night Scrapbooking :)
I am so excited.
I have some coloured images that I was planning on putting on some cards tonight.
We will see how much we get done, or we may just chat the night away. Either way, we will have a blast :)

Breath taking view....well one is anyway ;)

When I drove Kristy to school today I couldn't help but take a photo of this breath taking tree.
I love the changes in the season. Not just fall, by every season. But I think fall is one of the most beautiful times of the year.
Sadly I bet almost all these beautiful leaves are no longer on the tree. It has been so windy tonight.
As I was driving down the street, it was like I was driving through a leaf storm. Gorgeous.

The rest of my day was spent working on month end.
Not only do I take over my work area when I am creating, I also take over the table when I am doing my book work.
Surprisingly, I can find everything in this mess.... but I can :)

This is my work desk later in the day.
I never watch television during the day. But as I do my book work I do enjoy watching a few YouTube videos.
Today's video talent of choice was StampTV . I love the simplicity of her cards, they are clean and crisp. She is a great teacher as well.

Onto My Day:
Besides the book work I did (which I balanced by the way) and the video's I watched.
I had a nice chat with some ladies who came to my door. I declined their reading material, the Watchtower, but we still had a nice chat.
I also received a visit from my girlfriend Debbie. I was a bit embarrassed by the state of my house...okay I was a lot embarrassed.
I know everyone says, "I came to visit you not your house"..but mine is in bad shape.
But now that I have balanced month end....I am excited to get to the house work....and some more laundry ;)

Forgotten girl

I can't believe I forgot to share with you this card!!
I made it on my creative getaway. I guess I was saving this one ;)
I made the bow with the same pattern paper as I used to paper piece her dress. Then I inked the paper to bring out the shape of the tails of the bow.
I can't believe I forgot to post this card, wow.

I used a Gorjuss girl stamp and coloured her up with my Copic markers.
Usually when I paper piece their outfits I fussy cut out everything except the clothing.
But on this one, I just coloured the bits of her hair on the pattern paper instead of intricate cutting out those two strands of hair. (Thanks for the tip Debbie)
I know this wouldn't work if I coloured her hair a light brown or blonde, but it worked great for this one.
I added the white gell pen for her pearl necklace.
Drew in the grass with the flick of my markers.

For the inside of the of the card I backed the recipe/index card with black card stock. I inked the pattern paper with black distress ink.

Onto My Day:
Another exciting day of working.
I received a nice business call today, the guy yelled at me, I couldn't get in a word. But when I did, and calmed him down, the customer did apologize to me, and told me he was sorry he yelled.
I told him that it wasn't very nice of him, and that I accepted his apology.
Still kind of brought my day down.
I could never work at a customer complaints department, I would end up going home crying every day.

Calming photo and a soothing video ;)

This is a photo from when Ashley and I went to the clinic last week.
She took this with her IPhone. I am just shocked how well this phone takes photos.....I guess I should correct myself and say I am amazed on how awesome Ashley takes photos no matter what she uses.

Onto My Day:
Nothing to exciting, I worked all day today.
I watched a bit of YouTube while I was working.
Funny thing was, I saw a video on the Spice Girls, then that video turned into another one, then another one, then before I knew it I spent an hour (while I was also working) watching the making of the Spice Girls, lol.
How does that happen......oh don't pretend this hasn't happened to you before, lol.

This is the last card to share that I had made on my girls getaway.
I sure dragged them out didn't I, teehee.

I think this is one of my favourite cards.

I used my Copics to colour her up.
I paper pieced her dress. As you can see, I also shade the paper piecing I do. It gives the image a bit more dimension.
I also drew in the grass., and added some clouds in the background with some distress ink.

The inside of this card.
As always I used left over papers and a recipe/index card.
I edged the papers with black distress ink.

Onto My Day:
I can't believe that October is already here.
So with a new month also comes month end. I was working all day today.

Tonight (while I was working) Wayne and I have been watching Dexter. I really like this show. When I first heard about it, I had no desire to watch it. But after watching a few shows, we are hooked on it.
It is so not what I thought it was.
We are also excited that Bones and Castle have started up again. We just hope that Bones is better then last year, and it doesn't focus so much on baby stuff. Actually Heather stopped watching Bones last season because of that.
