Video of my Scrap/Craft room

I finally got my video up.
Beware it is very choppy, I had to edit the crap out of it. It was soooo long, guess that means that I have way too much stuff, teehee.

I thought I was ahead to the game as I recorded it yesterday, as I knew I was going to be busy all day today.
When I went to edit it, it was 45 minutes long. I re taped it..1/2 an hour long. So I had to edit the crap out of it. I got it down to 19 minutes and thought oh I'll try to upload it. Yeah it saved, and uploaded and was processing it.After over 3 hours or so it was rejected for being to long.I'm like why the heck didn't they inform me of this before all the rigmarole (is that one word?).
So I got it down to 15min. 15 seconds. (hard to find 15 seconds to edit)
Same thing, it saved, uploaded and was processing. Another 3 hours, yup you guessed it failed because it was to long, GRRRRR. I kept thinking of Becky's comment about technical difficulties, LOL. Jinx.

I was up so late putting this up and I am still not happy with the video. I won't tell you how late, but hubby's alarm just went off. Maybe I will make him breakfast. It would be the first time in our 22 yrs of marriage.

Onto my day:
My day was spent running around. I had to do banking, groceries and a favour for my sister. Drove Heather around looking for a game that she couldn't find.
Tonight I went out with my Sister/sister in law, Darlene. I call her that because she is Wayne's (hubby's) sister and she married my brother.
She had tickets to go and see Sylvia Browne and my brother was out of town. So I was excited to go. I told her lets make it a girls night of it. So we went out for dinner, then to the auditorium for the show. Sad thing was the show was postponed until Dec 7th, I guess Sylvia was ill. So that put a damper in the evening. I guess Sylvia didn't predict that one. But we still enjoyed ourselves.

Question...Why did I still have to make supper when I was going to for dinner? Just a thought.

Making of the Scrap/Craft Room.

Tomorrow I am going to take you on a tour of my creative space. Yesterday I showed you how I stored my scrapbooking stuff before I had a designated room.
Well today I am going to share with you how I made the room I have now

This space was my wood working area. But as you can imagine, cutting wood makes wood dust and wood slivers. Not something you want in your home. So I moved my woodworking saws and tools to my new Work Shed and started to work on my room. This was done near the end of 2007.
Her I am putting on dry wall compound. I hate this job. Actually I hate sanding this stuff even more.
Because the dry wall had never had a coat of paint on it we had to put on a drywall primer. Don't I look so happy to be getting my own room ;)
I wanted a nice burgundy/red colour. So we had to use a tinted primer on the walls. A little pink for my taste, good thing it was getting covered up.
The floor was just a plain concrete floor. I let the girls decorate it. They had fun.
This is the colour I chose and love. I got tired of painting it though. It took 5 coats to give it a nice coverage. Luckily the room wasn't that big.
Still needs a ceiling and baseboards. Here is the flooring I chose. Notice the skipping ropes on the floor? I used them to figure out where I was going to put my storage units. Later on I used painters tape for a more precise way to figure it out.
Still no ceiling. But the metal bars are up and ready. Ohhh hubby and I didn't have fun with this. If my memory is correct Hubby had a bit of a temper tantrum over this part of the project, I have a nick in my floor for proof, LOL.
Yeah its all done. Just had to put in my storage units and all my treasures. That was the fun part :)
So there you have it. My little red room.

On to my day.
This morning the girls woke up and wanted me to bring McDonald's home for breakfast.
I have been very proud of myself as we have not had any take out all week. The girls said they woke up every hour last night so they wouldn't miss breakfast, LOL. We had a lot of snow last night and Ashley was nervous to drive in it. Ya I caved.

Hubby wanted to go for a country drive. I was going to go as it would have been beautiful. That was until he mentioned that he was going to take his gun, just in case he saw a deer or moose. Plus he was going to plow one of the roads at work.
Nope didn't go. 1. Don't want any part of shooting a deer. 2. Plowing isn't my idea of a fun time.

The Walking Dead is on tonight, Yahoo. We sooo love that show.

Hope your Sunday was a nice one, and you got a bit of creating done today.

Before I had a Scrap/craft room

I have not always had my own place or room to scrapbook in and do my other crafts. I have always done some type of crafting. I stored my supplies in the laundry room in containers. When I started scrapbooking I started with a few tote bags.
Well we all know what happens. We see papers that we love and just "need" to buy for that perfect layout. And if we are smart actually use it right away (guess I'm not that smart LOL).
My girlfriends and I would scrap at my dining room table. So I converted my hutch into scrapbooking central.
As time went on, I found more treasures, and my scrapbooking hutch didn't hold everything. So I converted our front closet into another scrapbooking storage spot. I still used the hutch as well. It was perfect, everything at my fingertips. Now I have my own place to create in. I love it, but I think I am running out of space in there as well ;)
I just thought that I would share my 1st scrapbooking storage area's with you. See you don't need a full room to enjoy your passion. See what you have and work with it, and make it work for the space you have.

On to my day.
Heather had to work today. I think this is the last weekend. Things are slowing down for the season so the men do this in the winter. She usually works outside and today it was snowing as she was working. Too cold for working under these trucks.

Hubby went to the pit to shoot in his gun and target practice with my brother. So he opened everything up for us and moved 2 trucks in the shop. He knew it was going to snow and get cold so he didn't want his baby to get to cold and wet.
Heather and I laughed when we say this.
Doesn't it look like the loader is eating the truck. There is a dump truck behind the loader that hubby parked inside for Heather to grease. Teehee, a closer look, little things amuse me.
On the way home from work this is how the weather was. So not ready for the cold. Actually I hate the cold weather. I am still chilled and it has been 8 hours.
Sharon and Jim came by for cards tonight. We used to play cards almost every weekend when my girls were young. Actually even before the girls were born. When Sharon and Jim left, this is what it looked like outside.
I thought I would share this happy picture with you. As I was pouring my pop tonight I spilled a bit on the counter. Its a heart. See just shows I love my pop and my pop loves me LOL.
Hope your Saturday was a relaxing, creative one :)

Woohoo Friday Night Scrapbooking

Today was the first day of our Friday Night Scrapbooking. My girlfriends and I get together at my house every Friday night for scrapbooking. We don't do it in the summer due to everyone going to their camps/cottages.
We have been doing this for over 5 years at least. Sometimes its only Sharon and I. But other nights we have to move upstairs to the dining room table. Whichever it is, I love it.

Tonight it was just Sharon and I. We did more chatting then scrapping. Well she did as she didn't get anything done, LOL. Then at 9:00 we go to Tim Horton's for coffee. Well she gets coffee, I hate coffee, so I get a hot chocolate. They screw it up everytime. Its hot chocolate people!! They sell a 1/2 hot chocolate 1/2 coffee (who would want to ruin hot chocolate with coffee, gross) I think that is what they give me or else the machine is down and its really watery. From now on I am going to save my money and my taste buds and make my own.
I made 2 cards tonight.
I was planning on making Thank You cards for a while now, finally did a couple. I bought these "Thank You" tags when we went away on our trip. Hard to tell but they are sparkly. The colour inside the tag is a cream, and the rim is chocolate brown, Very pretty. I think my next set needs some more colour though.
Here is the inside of the card. I need lines in my cards to keep my writing straight. I can not write in a straight line to save my life. Funny how I need everything perfectly lined up though.
So today I was going to tape my scrap/craft room tour. I wanted to do it before Scrapbooking night as I knew I would make a mess, teehee. And I was so close to doing that too.
But I wanted to put up my shelves I bought from IKEA (yup got them when we were on our trip). I put them up (no help from hubby...thank you very much, NOT). And they are perfectly straight and look awesome. I love them.
But then I didn't have time to video tape. Not to worry I will have it up on the 15th. That my friends is a promise. And I never make a promise I can't fulfill :)

Hope you had a good Friday and got some creating in.

We Remember

Today is Remembrance Day. There was a wonderful ceremony here in town. Everyone had 2 minutes of silence at 11:00. During that time, we all as a country, thought about all these men and women that fought for our freedom.
Today was a day to honour them.

This is a 2 page layout that I did in honour of a soldier, Mr. Falden. He came to visit Kristy's class when she was in public school. I was so touched by him, that I made this layout. I made a copy for the teacher and for him as well.
These are his medals. But I think the biggest accomplishment is that he returned home safe.
The 1st part of the journaling is the poem "In Flanders Fields". The second is what the children thought and learned from this man
Here is a close up of what the children wrote.
This is my great grandfather, David George Bolam. He came to Canada in 1921 from England.
He was in the Home Guard.
I never got to know him as he passed away before my dad was even born.
Today was a day to honour our soldiers.
What do you do to honour your life?
They fought to make our lives better.
What do you do to make not only your life. but the people you come in contact with a better life. It doesn't take much to make yours, or someone's, day better. Smile at the lady who gives you your coffee, thank your child for picking up their clothes, no matter what it is, it will impact them. Even if it is just for that day.
Thankful Thursday:
1. The men and women who helped make this country what it is.
2. Having my family close to me everyday.
3. Having a warm home, full of love.
4. Working on my organizing of my scrap/craft room.
What are you thankful for today?

What a difference a year makes, or does it.

As I was sitting here trying to think of what to write about today, then I got to thinking. What was I doing at this time last year. Now because I didn't' have my blog then, I went through my pictures. I have attempted to do Project 365 for the last couple years. I got the photo's but petered off on the journaling about 3/4 of the way through the year.
So what I realized is that I haven't really accomplished that much in a year.

Last year I was organizing my scrap/craft room. On 2peasinabucket they were having an Organizing Challenge that Wookie Mouse put on. Here is her list of thing to do. Some of these ideas didn't apply to me so I skipped them.

Well guess what?!? I am picking up where I left off. That and I had to re organize some of the things that I did already, Come on give me a break, its been a year, you think the stuff I did would still be perfect, LOL.

The reason I have started again is because:
1. I am sick of moving things around to find something I am looking for.
2. I have been planning on doing a video of my scrap/craft room since I started my blog.
3. I made a pact with a fellow You Tuber http://www.youtube.com/user/Scrapdillyishious. We made a deal to organize our scrapbook rooms and do a video of them on the 15th. The 15th of this month!!!!

I tell you I sure have a lot of sh1t, I mean treasures. I forgot how much I had. I have been purging as I go, but not nearly as much as I should.
So I did get down to the room today for a bit. I was planning on doing it all day, but as usual that didn't happen. I got a call from an old friend and was on the phone most of the morning.

So I went to pick up a few containers today. Well they discontinued them. Makes me mad. I like everything to match. Now they won't! I don't want to buy all new containers just so they all match. Well actually I do, but I won't.

Planning on spending most of my day down there tomorrow to work on it. Hope your day was a creative day.
What were you doing this time last year.

Wild Rice Casserole

I got to stay home all day today, well not really I drove Kristy and her friend to school.
I didn't get a good sleep last night. I couldn't fall asleep. This never happens to me.
I couldn't stop thinking about my dad. Remembering talking to him and funny things he would do. My mind just didn't want to shut down for the night.
Then this morning I woke up real early and couldn't fall back asleep. I think I got about 4 hours of sleep. I kept thinking about my nieces. I had to finally tell myself it is out of my control and I am doing all I am capable of doing.
I want to thank all you lovely ladies for your sweet comments about this.

So today I made Cil's Wild Rice Casserole. Cil was my MIL.
This takes a bit to prepare. Well for me anyway. If you follow my blog regularly then you know how much I love to cook (insert sarcasm).
So 1st you have to prepare your wild rice. In order to do this you have to soak it overnight.
Then rinse in well. Then boil it. Then rinse it well. Then add salt and boil for 20 mins.
See the difference, the rice has opened up. Then you cook the sausage and mix all the rest of the ingredients and then bake it in the oven. Boy I sure love my family :)
So besides making this today, I organized my scrap/craft room. Well I guess you can say I re-organized it. I organized it last year, I am tweaking it this year. I am in need of some more containers, so I will go out tomorrow and see what I can find. I am actually enjoying this.
I got Ashley to mail my parcels today, thank you Ashley. Marlene, its on its way :)

So what have you done today to make you feel proud?

1. Cleaning up my scrap/craft room.
2. Not taking a nap
3. Making a meal my family loved, that was from my loving MIL

4. Finally got my parcels in the mail.

Hope your Tuesday was a creative one.
