One Good Friend...Art Journal page

I have a few groups of friends that are into art journaling and we give out challenges to keep us motivated to try new things.
This is our 5th challenge and my friend Lynne chose the theme this time.
It was to use circles, your favourite colour and some type of texture.

Here is my take on the challenge:

Again I used some of my girl images these ones are from the Prima line by Julie Nutting.
If you know me then you know my favourite colour is burgundy.

I had so much fun with this background.
I started by adding gesso to my page and then adding some colour with Vicki Boutin art crayons.
One of the things I really love about Vicki's crayons is that there is no waste..you can use the whole crayon right up to the tiniest piece and the wrapper is just that...a paper wrapper that can be recycled!
And of course there are some beautiful colours.

Because I used gesso first, I was able to wipe some colour away to give a pattern to my page.
I used this mini circle stencil and with a baby wipe on top of it, I wiped the colour away...pretty cool eh?!
And see these glossy darker circles??
I used (again) Vicki Boutin's iridescent glaze and added a bit of the art crayon to add some colour to the glaze for my texture.
This is the same colour I used on the background...but the colour is more vibrant.

I then used an empty paper loo roll dipped into black paint to get my black circles around the glazed circles and the did some splatters with the paint, which I watered down a bit.
The sentiment I printed on my computer and cut to size.

For the dolls I just used some pencil crayons to colour them up and used some pretty pattern paper and fussy cut out their dresses.

There you have it my completed art journal page for our challenge.
I am pretty impressed that I remember all of my steps as I had made this page on the May Long weekend at my friend Sharon's camp :)
Oh yes, and the grass is some washi tape.

Here is everyone's take on this challenge.
I know I say it every time, but I just love how all of our pages are so different even though we all follow the same challenge.

I hope you all enjoyed a peek into my art journal, and I hope you all have a very creative day.

Peachy Cheap Online Haul

Just a quick little post on an on-line haul I did from Peachy Cheap a few or more months ago.
I am still playing catch up with my videos and projects that I did, but have not yet shared...why is that.
I still haven't figured out why I seem to stock pile my videos and projects the last few years, lol.
Time to rectify that once I have caught up.

So I did a bit of on-line shopping...I know, I know, I say I don't on-line shop and then I go all crazy on it, lol.
This first one is these Julia Nutting stickers.
You know I love to colour my Julie Nutting images, but I thought these would be fun to quickly put in my planner or journal.

I thought this was a fun collection.
It is the Domestic Bliss collection by Simple Stories.
Anytime I find ephemera (or die cut pieces) I am so happy.
The only store we have here in town is Michaels and they don't carry these new fun collections.

Next is this Reset Girl collection.
I want to call it the Reese girl collection....I think I need some chocolate, teehee.
I am a lover and obsess over office supplies (as well as craft supplies) ;)
So even though these aren't the colours I usually gravitate to, I like these images and thought they would be fun to play with in my planner.

My last collection is from Simple Stories called Winter Wonderland.
I am looking forward to working with it on my Christmas projects.

As I mentioned above, I did a video on this haul, but didn't post it for some odd reason....so here it is.
If you would rather watch it on my YouTube channel, just click on the link "Tracy's Treasures24"

I hope you all have a very Creative Day :)

Art Journal Page….Happy New Year

Ohhh Look another art journal page.
2 this year, look at me go!!!!

If you remember from this Art Journal page, I had made 2 of these Prima girls.
I couldn't let her go to waste, so though I would use her on another art page.

This page was super fast.
First I coloured the page with black gesso….remember that huge tub I picked up from Blick's on one of our trips to the States?
I then used gold embossing powder and heat embossed these dangling streamers (actually a snowflake stamp).
I also heat embossed these wooden words in the same gold embossing powder.

I then used a gold pen to splatter some gold confetti over the page.
Lastly I added my girl to the page.
Look at all of those pretty sparkly layers to her dress :)

This page seemed just too easy, but I still like the outcome of it.

One thing I noticed with most of my art journal pages is that I stop when I could do so much more.
Its like, I like how it is turning out, and leave it at that.
Instead I should be pushing myself to go into more detail.
I will work on that this year.

I hope you all had a very creative day today :)

Art Journal Page..Have yourself a Merry little Christmas

I think I have taken a long enough break and am excited to get back into crafting and blogging :)
So to start the year off right, I will share with you my Christmas Art Journal page.
This was another challenge that Caroline and I put on for each other :)
The theme for the month was Christmas and collage.
Both Caroline and I were a bit behind on this challenge…oops.

The first thing I did was glue this pretty napkin to the page.
The napkin was a bit longer than the book, so I cut it down to fit the page…I fussy cut the border where I sliced the napkin.
See how there is a darker part across the page, that is where part of the napkin overlapped…..but I will deal with that later.
I also stamped and then heat embossed (with black embossing powder) my Prima girl image on some white card stock.

I wanted to use my Copic markers to colour her hair and skin.
BUT….the alcohol from the Copic marker smeared the black embossing..grrrrr.
I didn't want to ruin my Copic markers, so I used some gelatos instead.

Because this challenge was to do some collage…I cut strips of pattern paper and collaged them to form her dress….pretty, right?!

Now for some creative changes ;)

I had to come up with a way to disguise the seam of my napkin…so what better way then to make more ;)
By doing this it takes your eye away from the main seam and gives more interest and texture to the background…especially since my background is pretty simple.

The next thing I changed up was the girl.
I thought this fun sparkly dress went better with the crisp colours of the background.
Don't worry, I used the other girl on another page :)
See the way the foiled snowflakes sparkle…..so pretty.

Lastly comes my journaling.
I usually do my journaling on the computer and print it out…see how nice and neat this is, much neater than my handwriting.
Even though I love the crisp clean look of the pure white paper, I thought it was a bit too bright for this page.
So I inked up the paper with distress ink and then the edges to help it blend with the page.

Isn't she festive :)

I hope you all have a very creative day :)

Katies Wedding Tag and a video

I made this tag for my friend (all of our friend) Katie.
We all know that Katie and AJ got married recently and I wanted to send her a Congratulations card.
Well my card turned into this tag :)
I wanted the colours to be autumn colours as those were the colours in her wedding.
I chose this Prima Doll stamp as it looks like she is wearing a wedding dress.
I inked and punched out the flowers to sort of match her bouquet.
Added two hearts one symbolizes Katie's and the other one AJ's.

This is the back of the tag.
I used a Prima tag and the back is plain white. So I added pattern paper and inked it as I did the front of the tag with Tim Holtz distress inks.
I made the pocket and added a tag I had made for my message to them.
I have to thank Katie for these photos. I was in a rush to do the video and then to package up the tag to be mailed away…I forgot to take actual photos of the tag..oops.
So thank you Katie :)

I am so happy and thankful that Ashley figured out how to upload my video today :)
So here it is ….
I hope you all have a creative Friday….Friday Night Scrapbooking for me :)

Home Made Mini Smash Book.....Making Ashley's house a Home...Day 2

I had shared the home made smash/type book I had made with my friend Debbie while we were away at our creative getaway in an earlier post.
But today I thought I would go into more detail....as there won't be a tutorial, sorry Becky ;)  But I will give you a little walk through :)
Here is my book

And here is both mine and Debbie's.
Like most of the cards we did this weekend, they are similar yet different.
We both used the same stamp collection, Prima dolls. But used different girls.
We used the same papers.
We used the same layout.
But as you can see they are a bit different.
For one thing we coloured them to look like us....well with longer legs and a skinner waist line ;)
As you can see Debbie made an "all about me" book. I guess she liked the idea of my "all about me" book that I started working on in May :)
I am not yet sure what this here book will be used for.

So the first thing I did was gather some chipboard.
I just used some thicker chipboard you can get from the backs of  the 12x12 paper pads. I never throw them away.
A tip: When picking up 12x12 loose papers from a store, ask for chipboard to keep the papers from bending...free chipboard ;)
I then cut the chipboard to the size of 7.5"x 6.5". We had seen the smaller smash books at a store, and Debbie really liked the size. As I always say "I can make that". So we did, lol.
We then used some thicker pattern paper with patterns on both front and back and cut them at 7"x6"
Before using my Bind it all to bind the pages together, we added the black decorative paper to the edge.
And voila we have a couple of really cute books.
Oh ya, we coloured the images with our Copics.
I also used washi tape on mine. It is the black strip with the pink flowers :)
Here are the colours I used for my girl. I totally forgot to get a photo of the colours Debbie used.

Onto My Day:
Ashley and I woke up early to hit Home Depot to pick up her paint and other painting and home supplies.
Then I ran to McDonalds for their breakfast as we didn't get to eat before we left the house...to excited I guess.
I vacuumed and then washed the baseboards and such.
Ashley went to pick up her sister up from home, as she didn't want them to have to wake up so early.
Then we all painted, and painted and painted.
I met one of the neighbours.
Ashley also got a load of topsoil as she wants to raise her yard a bit.
We also got a few visitors, and Ashley gave them all tours ;)

Hope you all had a creative Friday :)
Oh ya and if you're wondering...yes I am really as pale as my Copic coloured girl is.
I think I surprised Debbie when I showed her that I actually have a tan, by showing her my proof, of the tan marks on my feet made by my flip flops, lol.
I am still so pale, lol.

Working on a Tracy's Tag and email confussion

I have been working on a project today, between getting my new laptop up and running.
For the record I am still using my Sony laptop, not my MacBook Pro...more about that in a bit.

Onto the project I am working on.
I am making one of my Tracy's Tags (as one of my YouTube subscribers named it ;) ).
I wanted to use one of my new Prima Doll stamps.

These stamps are pretty big. This one is about 7 3/4" high.
I won this stamp on a YouTube channel and want to show my appreciation by making her a little something.

Not much colouring on this one.
I coloured her skin, hair, crown and bow. the rest of the image I have paper pieced.
I did add shading to her dress with my copics though.
Hopefully I will be completed the tag to share with you tomorrow :)

Now onto why I haven't used my new laptop yet.
For one thing I couldn't remember my password for my e-mail.
So I couldn't get my messages on my new laptop.
I phoned my internet provider to get a new password. He walked me through changing it and all went well.

Then I asked him about my e-mail. I wanted to know if there was a way that when I replied to an email and then deleted it, say on my iPhone, if it can somehow automatically be deleted from my iPad and iMac.
He had told me no. I would have to delete them all manually from each device.
Oh okay, a pain, but whatever.
As soon as I got off the phone with him I deleted all my emails from my phone. I think I had over 300 of them.
Then thought I will reply on my iPad. I checked my iPad.....and yup all my emails were gone.
I guess he was wrong eh?

I am happy that they are all tied together now, if I reply and delete a comment on my phone at camp, I won't be wondering if I have replied when I go on my iPad or laptop as it won't be there :)
So I spent the rest of the day and evening checking, replying and deleting my email on my Sony laptop. All 300+ of them.
When I get a message for my blog, I like to check out that persons blog, and comment. If they don't have a new post up, then I like reply to their comment.
When I get a message for my YouTube channel, I reply to each message and check out if they have a new video and watch it.
So let me tell you, it has taken me a bit of time today to do that, lol.

I hope you had a creative Monday :)

Tracy :)
