Another fun Adventure...and a crafty haul

Wow it has almost been a week since I last posted....and I used to post daily!!
I guess I have either been busy or lazy ;)

Last Friday my daughters and I went on a road trip.
We had a lot of laughs, and enjoyed our little trip to Minneapolis.
This summer has been full of adventures for me :)

You know I love to shop for crafty goodies, so here is what I purchased on this trip.
We thought we had to waste time before Pine City Scrapbooking, so looked around the dollar store.

Turned out, we didn't need to waste time, don't know what we were thinking.
So I purchased this paper and these mini baby soothers from Pine City Scrapbooking.
Yes, more paper...but its baby paper ;)

I found some goodies in the clearance section :)

Then I went to Blick's Art to pick up the Pastel Spectrum Noir markers.
Sadly, they only sell them on their on-line store :(
I was so sad, as that is what I was really looking forward to getting.
We walked across the lot to The Container Store to have a look around.
I picked up this container that holds 5x7 photo boxes.
I had planned on one day just cutting some dies and punches and these containers will be perfect for that.

I also found tome tags and some cute wood grain mini bags at The Container Store.
Kristy said to me that I can find craft supplies in every store we go into, teehee.

After this bit of shopping it was a trip to Ikea.
Who doesn't love Ikea?!?!
We spent about 2 hours in this store, just taking our time and browsing the showroom.
Then we got to business and got our lists out :)
We had to fold down one of the back seats to fit everything in :)
We fit in everything and all the other shopping we did....glad I wasn't in the back seat, as it was a tight fit back there for our 7 hour drive back home, lol.

After Ikea it was a trip to Target to pick up some breakfast for the next day and of course to check out their dollar bins :)
 found some fun planner goodies.

I will share with you my goodies from our second day on our trip :)
I don't want to overwhelm you...even though this wasn't a big crafty haul as I was just away on a crafty trip with Sharon.

Last day in Hinckley

On the last day of our Hinckley trip Sharon and I always plan on crafting that whole day.
We did craft, but first had to run into Pine City to do the last of our shopping.
I always go to Pine City Scrapbooking....love that store and they love me.

But when we came back we set up shop at the upstairs lobby table
We actually took over, as me moved the lamp for better lighting :)
Here is our set up....not including the bags we have at our feet ;)

The card folds may look familiar as they are the same layouts we used for the fun fold cards from Crop & Create I shared on past blog posts.
I was planning on colouring some images and making cards with them...but when I saw that Sharon was going to make these, I just couldn't help myself :)

I brought one of my first 6x6 paper pads and had a chuckle as that is what we used for all of our cards.
It was a seasonal pack which had monthly papers in them.
I just thought this Popsicle paper was so cute.

Oh ya, Sharon's cards are all on the left and mine are the ones on the right :)
One thing about crafting away from home, is you never know what embellishments to take with you.
I have the perfect cupcake sticker for on top of this doily.

As you can see Sharon loves to make Christmas cards.
I think she has all of her Christmas cards made for the next 4 years, you think I'm kidding...I'm not.
So I decided to make a Christmas card as well.

We had card stock scraps and I hate to waste, so we made some 3x3 cards.

Lastly one of my favourite types of folds an easel card.
I am still using those Mary Engelbreit papers.
These ones are leftover papers and some fussy cut pieces from other cards I had made.

I love an Adventure

I am off on another adventure.
I love summer :)

Every year my SIL/friend Sharon and I go away for a little getaway.
Look how light I packed.
The black rolling tote is my crafty supplies (as we plan one day to craft away), the bag with the pink on it is my clothes (and maybe I snuck some extra crafty supplies in there as well) and lastly, the bag with blue on it is my lap top and some journals...I always need to make lists.
I think I packed pretty light for 4 days away.

1st stop on our way to our destination was to Michaels.
So with coupons in hand we scoured the store for some good deals.
Everything was on sale except the glue, which I used my coupon on :)
I was looking for a new trimmer as most of my measurements have rubbed off.
Sadly the price was the same as at home, so I would be paying way more here when adding the exchange rate and even if I used my coupon.
I'm thinking I'll wait until I get home to pick that up.

Michael's had their "Hot Buys" going on.
I need paper like I need more washi tape...but seriously for the price (even with the exchange) it was well worth it.

Next Stop...Hobby Lobby.
I have been looking for the Warm Grey in the Spectrum Noir markers.
I have tried checking them out on line, but they are always out of stock.
I have seen in the past that Hobby Lobby carries these markers, but not the Warm Grey's.
But no worries...I found a few other items to make me smile ;)

The off to Target to pick up some Coca-Cola and some munchies, as I need to keep nourished while shopping ;)
Oh look, some washi tape, teehee.
I also may have picked up some cute things for my soon to be grand baby :)

Last store before going to to Red Lobster for supper was Barnes and Noble.....who says you can have to many pretty journals :)

Let the Adventure Begin…again

The title for this post should probably read "Let the Shopping Begin" lol.
We are on our December Family Get away :)

Our first step was of course to Cabela's…..Wayne's favourite store.
Don't judge me on my quantity of Bear Claws…these have to last me a while :)
I was surprised to see that the Cabela's in Winnipeg didn't carry them…she didn't even know what they were.
Also some yummy warm candied Cashews and Peacans :)

Now onto what you are really here to see…my creative goodies ;)
After Cabela's we stopped off at Blicks art.
I was excited to pick up some more of these inks/markers.
I wanted to get a dark and light shade of each colour.
I have to say, I am so happy that I take photos of all of my supplies as I purchase them.
The reason….it is so easy to keep track of what I have.
When I took photos of my last Pitt pen haul, for my blog post, I turned the markers so I could see the names of the colours.
This way I was guaranteed not to purchase the same colours, and the photos are on my phone, so right at my fingertips :)

We also stopped off at a Tuesday Morning.
We went to 2 of them today and here is what I found at the first one.
I love these red buckets for Christmas decor that Ashley showed me, as she knew I would love them.
I picked up these cool napkins for some creative fun ;)
2 Stencils, some neat book covers and this number stamp set.
I also bought 2 of these clear containers. I am planning on putting them in my drawers in my craft room for storing smaller embellishments.
See, I'm at least thinking of organizing my craft room ;)

I did more creative shopping, but I will share that in tomorrows post…..just in case I don't find anything tomorrow ;)

When Heather and Kristy asked if we could go to Winnipeg to see Lights in concert, I had told them we could go, but we wouldn't be going on our December Family Trip.
They were fine with it…but Ashley wasn't, lol.
Ashley wanted to go and felt ripped off as she didn't have a vote.
She said this would've been her last family trip as she is getting married this summer, and then start her own family.
Wayne being the hard ass that he tries to be, had asked me if Ashley really wanted to go on a Family  trip, we could.
I wasn't upset about him over-riding me, teehee.

How I pack for a Road Trip

I was contacted by Emma who is the Community Coordinator at Relay Rides, which is a car rental system.
She had seen my blog, and saw that we go on a few road trips throughout the year.
She had asked me to do a post on my must haves for our trips.
At first I wasn't sure.
But then I thought, why not, it would make for an informative blog post and you may get a tip or two out of it :)

I am a list keeper, always have been and always will be.
This is a list that I keep in a page protector in my planner.
I am from Canada and many of our weekend trips are to Minneapolis or Duluth, so there are certain things we need to have to cross the border.
Passports, American money and Health Insurance making the top of that list.
We use this list for all of our road trips though, we just omit the things we don't need when traveling in Canada.

I have always let the girls pack their own bags.
If one of them was to young to read, then an older sister or I would read it to them.
If they forgot something (which has happened), believe me they would remember it the next time.
The reason for this was to give them responsibility at a young age to be responsible for themselves, and to know how to pack.
It worked :)

Now you know I had to pack a creative bag ;)
I always bring a book, magazines and a journal or note book.
I don't travel without a note book or journal.
I like to write my ideas down, or what we did on our way, or funny things the girls say during our travels.
I probably never look at the magazines…but I have to bring them just in case.
This bag sits by my feet.
It also has side pockets to hold my pens, adhesive and white out.
I also use to pack goodie bags for the girls when they were younger…They still ask for them, lol.

This is my newest bag I take along with us.
It is a soft cooler that folds up flat.
I can never finish my meals when we go to a restaurant, so I like to bring my left overs back to the hotel for a later treat.
I have even brought them back home on a few occasions.
I love this bag.
Not only does it fold up nice and flat, but once open it is pretty big.
There is a front zippered pocket where I keep 2 large ziplock freezer bags.
I fill the freezer bags up with ice from the ice machine in the hotel and we are good to go.
I also keep disposable cutlery in the zipper pocket, just in case I do eat it at the hotel.

I just love road trips.
I know it takes longer to get to your destination, but there is so much to see on the ride there.
And if/when I fall asleep, my honey will wake me up to see them.

Adventure comes to an end

We made it home safe and sound…we didn't even hit any snow.
During our travel to Winnipeg and back, I read this book.
It was really good. It took me a bit to get in to the book.
At first I thought it was because I was reading it in between doctor and dentist appointments, but then Becky told me she felt the same way….but it sure is worth getting over those first few chapters.

I love my sweets…but thats no surprise ;)
I usually pick these yummy cones of sugar in the States, but Wayne and I found some in Ignace.
I have to say these ones are so much better then the ones I get in the States…these ones are so soft and fresh….guess what I'm going to be doing after I post this, teehee

My daughters love Forever 21.
Heather spent about an hour and a half in that store.
I picked up this cute purse from there.
I don't like big purses…tiny person, tiny purse ;)
My girls bug me about my purses being so small. But the bigger the purse the more crap everyone tries to give me to carry in it.
I really like this purse, but I was so worried about my wallet fitting in it, that I didn't realize the long straps are sewed in.
I thought I could take them off.
I need a small strap..remember tiny person ;)
I thought I could use the strap (like a messenger bag) if we go somewhere like a movie or concert where I don't want to put my purse down.
But I am going to get out my seam ripper and pick the stitching apart to remove the long strap.
Then add a snap to attach and detach the straps.

I am so happy to be home.
I was actually a bit home sick while we were gone. That Never happens to me.

Let the New Adventure Begin

Heather and Kristy wanted to see Light's in concert.
The concert being in Winnipeg, and the weather being what it is, Wayne took a few days off of work to come along and be our driver.
This I was happy about, as it is an 8 hour drive and it snowed for a few hours into the drive.
But in between naps, reading a novel and chatting with Becky (Fourth house on the Right) via texts…the drive didn't seem so long :)

The girls wanted to go shopping as soon as we got into Winnipeg, so we stopped at St. Vital, that was after we exchanged something for Ashley at Ikea's and Wayne did a bit of shopping at Cabela's.

But then I got to go to my store…The Scrapbook Cottage :)
I had contacted them last week, to see if they had a couple of items I was looking for and if they could put them away for me..they did :)
No surprise that they were art journaling supplies ;)
The first item was this smaller Dylusions art journal.
The second item was this product called Inka Gold.
I also picked up another one of these art journals that I have been using to practice in.
I love the paper in this Visual Journal!!!

Of course I found some other goodies while I was there.
It wasn't until I put all these goodies out to photograph that I realized 99% of the supplies were Christmas related….believe me when I say, I didn't need more Christmas goodies, teehee.

After our shopping was complete, we went to visit my dad and stepmom.
Doreen (my stepmom) cooked us a delicious dinner of ribs, rice and a few different desserts :)
She is an awesome cook.
For some crazy reason, I happen to get a migraine while we were there  :(  I am sure it will be gone with a good night sleep.

Road Trip..coming home

We made it home safe and sound :)
Here are the last of the crafty goodies that I picked up :)
Pine City scrapbooking wasn't open when we got there, so we ran to Walmart to wait for them to open.
I found some washi and a few cute post its for my planner.
I laughed so hard when Sharon picked up a few rolls of washi tape herself, then when she saw my hands full she states loudly "Damn you Walmart and your .97c washi!!!!  lol.

We didn't get to Scrapbooks Too or Hobby Lobby, or Jo-Anns….but we did hit a scrapbooking/fabric/yarn store called Fabric Works Etc.
It is a little gem of a store.
I picked up this Journal I have been meaning to try, but didn't want to pay the price and then realized that I should just get it as I had passed it up 3 other times and then regret it when I get home :)
I also picked up this spray Adirondack Colour wash, I haven't tried this product yet.

I really do create almost every where I go :)
I brought my planner, tiny trimmer, scissors and brought some thin washi tape and used the new tapes I bought and did a bit of decorating in my planner :)
I always bring a little (or sometimes big) tote with me with a bit of crafting supplies so I can play while I'm away.
Sometimes if I know I am going to be busy, I will just bring a note book to jot down ideas :)
