Blake's Birthday Card and Mojo Monday Challenge

I was so excited that Graphic 45 commented on my card I posted yesterday :)
Here is what they said "Wow, beautiful! Love the flowers along the edge. Gorgeous job!"
I am sure they comment on everyone's projects, but still it is a thrill..especially since this is the second time they have commented on one of my projects :)

I got to play with my coloured pencils and Gamsol again today :)
This card is for Kristy's boyfriend. He is turning 19 tomorrow :)
What better image to use for a older boy's card then these Tickled Pink images, and Tim Holtz paper.

I used this sketch from Mojo Monday challenge blog.
I have been meaning to enter more challenges (I have only entered one) for the last couple of years.
So here I go ;)

Here is my coloured image.
I am having fun with the coloured pencils. Don't get me wrong Copics are still my favourite, but the pencils are really good for small areas like with this image.

Today was the start of my healthy eating. So I had oatmeal for breakfast.  Looks yummy doesn't it…maybe not as yummy as the banana split I had yesterday though ;)

I also enjoyed a walk on the treadmill  this morning. It is a bit slippery on the sidewalks yet, and where it isn't slippery, there are deep puddles.

I hope you had a wonderful and creative Monday :)

March's Card Challenge and a Banana Split

I can finally share my card for Phillane's and my Monthly card challenge we have going on for each other.

The Challenges for this month is.
1.Spring Theme
2. Envelope Pocket Card
3. Image of Choice
4. at least 4 Layers
5. Washi tape.

1.For the Spring theme I used one of my favourite paper packs from Graphic 45, the Once Upon a Springtime collection.
At one time I had 2, 12x12 packs and 2, 8x8 packs. I am down to one of each now…time to hoard, lol
2. I made my envelope pocket card that I had designed for the class I taught back in February.
To see the tutorial on this type of card Check out my Video.
3. Coloured this cute image from "Great Impressions" with my Copic markers.
4. I have many layers to this card. The flower itself has 4 layers with the butterflies on it
5. Washi Tape, I kind or forgot about that element so added it to the inside of the card and to the back.

I cut the paper title from the paper…if you didn't know it was a Spring themed card, I spelt it out for you ;)

Here is my layered flower.
The nylon butterfly is from the dollar store. I changed the colour of it with some coloured spray.
I even used some rose trim.

I actually matched my Copic colours to this paper. Usually I just colour my image and match up the papers later…as I have so much paper it is never a problem, teehee.
But I wanted to match her dress up perfectly with these papers.

Here is the video I did of my card :)
If you would like to watch it on my YouTube Channel, click on Tracy's Treasures24

Here is the Phillane's card she made for me for March :)
Isn't this so cute. I love the palm tree, it has so much texture to it :)
Of course this little Pure Innocence girl is adorable as well.

Tomorrow starts my Healthy eating.
I do have one lunch and one supper out this month that I know of, but besides that, I am going to eat healthy. I will have a can of Coke on the weekends, but will cut it out for the weekdays again. And I will drink more water.
So tonight we had Banana Splits for dessert ;)
Cute dishes eh?
I picked these up years ago when we had dessert every Sunday :)

I am sad that there is no Walking Dead on tonight, so we are watching 28 Days Later ;)

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and a creative Walking Deadless Sunday ;)

Colouring, shopping and something new

I coloured a bit today with my Copics.
I tried a different type of paper, I usually use XPress It paper.
I didn't like this paper as it seemed to bleed more than it did blend.
I am going to put this LaLa Land image on a card.

I keep telling myself that I am going to enter more card challenges, but have only entered one and I think that was last year, lol.
If you know of any fun card sketch challenges I would love for you to share them with me :)

Early this morning Wayne wanted to go out and do some running around.
He also wanted to go to Michaels…..more on that in another post ;)
But who was I to not tag along to the only craft store in town ;)
They had these containers on for $3.99 each. I grabbed 2, not sure what I am going to use them for yet, but they come in handy :)

Later on in the day, I went onto the 2Peas message board and someone had posted that there are inserts for these containers.
I have had these types of containers for years and didn't know there were inserts for them.
I have even seen these inserts and just figured they were for something else.
So off to Michaels we went again to look for the inserts.
They had one.
It was on sale for $4.99 regular $9.99

One of the neat things about these inserts is that they have tabs that you can move around to customize the size of the cubbies.
I think I will keep my die cuts in here.
I opened up my Heidi  Swapp ephemera and there is no way these pieces are going back in their packaging, so I dumped them in here and I can go through them easier.
I am not keeping the ink or the veneer pieces in here, I just put them in here to show the compartments.

While we were out and about, we stopped at Canadian Tire for a hotdog :)
I am not a big hot dog eater.
Actually I had stopped eating hotdogs for over 5 yrs, as I had watched a show on how they were made.
Then one day we went to Canadian Tire and I was starving. So we grabbed a hotdog from the outside hotdog vender…oh my goodness, it tasted so good.
But I still haven't had a hot dog from anywhere other than CT :)

When Wayne and I went out the second time, we stopped off at Burger King for a milkshake…but I figured you didn't need another photo of that, lol.
Monday we are resuming our healthy eating. Since we were away last weekend and ate in restaurants we knew we were going to eat bad and haven't stopped since then, lol.

I hope you all had a wonderful and creative Saturday.
Wayne and I are going to watch Night of the Comet before we hit the hay….do you remember that 80's movie ;)

Recording my Copic colours

Remember those images I coloured and shared yesterday?
Well this is how I am using them.
I put them in my Copic Journal with the marker colours I used for each image.
When I made this journal (3 yrs ago) I didn't use a good paper for colouring with my Copics.
So I coloured these images on my XPress It paper, then used a Spellbinders thin die to cut out my coloured images.
Here are some colour combo's for how I colour Black and Brown hair.

Here are the Copic colours I use for Blonde and Red hair.
The Blonde girls skin colour is what I usually use for my girls, but I am liking the other combos as well.
I have done a few more pages, but just thought I would share my most used hair colours.
I am having fun with these girls and putting together different hair and skin combos :)
After Hair and Skin, I will put some colour combos together for their clothing ;)

We received some snow today. A gift that Mother Natures keeps on giving us.
Thank you Mother Nature, but you are too generous.
Our school busses were even cancelled today, which doesn't happen very often. Plus I personally didn't think we got that much snow for that.
Kristy was nice enough to shovel the driveway. The snow was wet and heavy.
I would have just let it sit….it will eventually melt, lol.

I enjoyed another Friday Night Scrapbooking evening with my friends.
Good friends, some treats and many laughs :)

I hope you all had a wonderful and creative Friday :)

Playing with my Copics

Today I played around with my Copics :)
As I was sharing yesterday, I want to fill in my some of my Copic Journal.
I thought I would stamp some images and work on some hair and skin combinations.
I thought this Gorjuss girl image would be perfect for this.
Because I was only focusing on the face, I didn't stamp the whole image.
I may, later on, colour in her blouse…but then again I may not ;)

Another reason I only stamped part of the image is because this is the page that the images go on.
When I made this book (3yrs ago) I had just started getting into Copics and didn't know which paper I would prefer. Plus my scrapbook store only carried the Bella Bestest paper…which I don't like for Copics, it bleeds.
So what I am going to do….as I don't want to re-do this whole book, is cut the girls out with my oval die and adhere them on the pages and write beside the images which colours I used.

Because I wanted to veg and just colour today, I had asked Heather if she wanted to watch a movie with me.
She was a bit surprised as I never have the television on during the day.
I even let her choose what we would watch. She picked Hannibal, the tv series.
Then Heather and I took a viewing break and started supper.
After supper we made Becky's "Fourth House on the Right" cookies. I have to say Wayne sure likes them…or I should say liked…as I don't know if there are any left, teehee.

Ashley came by after supper to do some laundry.
Then Heather, Ashley and I went through the girls computer desk. I should really give credit where credit is due, as Heather did all the work as Ashley and I sat and observed, lol.
We want to get rid of the girls computer as it is probably 14 yrs old and doesn't really work anymore.
Everyone in this house either uses their laptop or iPad, so it is just taking up space. Plus the desk it is on is a big corner desk.
Hoping to get it out of the house this weekend, now that they went through all their things.

I hope you all had a very creative Thursday :)

Copic Journal…revisited

I made this Copic journal a few years ago.
But the only thing I have ever done in it was record the markers that I had purchased.
I have all the Copic markers, so never really looked at it again.
But there is so much I can do in this book.
Check out my blog post and the video from when I first made this journal "Copic Journal"

Tonight I have been adding the different colour shades.
I wish I would have used my favourite Copic paper in this book, which is X-Press It.
But when I made this book, I didn't have this paper and was still experimenting.
I decided to work in this book again, as I have so many pieces of paper with my favourite colour combinations on them, that to have them all in one place will be so much more organized.

I did a video on the gift bag I had made yesterday. I also talked a bit more about the coloured pencils :)
To watch it on my YouTube channel click "Tracy's Treasures24"

Ashley has been under the weather the last couple of days.
She asked if I could bring her something for supper. So Wayne and I ran to BK to get her a burger.
Look what I grabbed for myself.
I have to say, that BK makes one of the best milkshakes I have had…yum.

I hope you all have had a wonderful and creative Wednesday :)

Colouring with Pencils..No Joke ;)

It is my friend Lynne's birthday.
Actually it was last Friday, but I wasn't here.
So I altered this $1.00 kraft gift bag to put her gift in.
I stamped the butterflies on the background and then added designer paper, some flowers, butterflies and my image I coloured up with my new coloured pencils :)

This is the first time I have tried using coloured pencils and gamsol.
If you know me, then you know that when I try something creative, I go all out.
I want to use what I make, even if it for practice.
So not knowing what I was doing, I coloured her face…it looks a bit on the yellow side for the shaded areas, but all in all, I think it is usable.

For her hair, I used only 2 colours of brown.
I left some areas uncoloured as that would act as yet another colour or a deeper highlight.
I then blended it all with my Gamsol and blending stump.

Then I went on to the other parts of the image.
Not to bad if I say so myself ;)
If any of you pro's out there have any tips for me, I would love to hear them :)

Here is a close up of the finished image on the bag.

I know most use Prismacolor pencils, but the artist at Blick's told me she preferred the Blick's brand of pencils.
I had a bit of a dilemma when choosing which brand, as I know I could find beautiful colour combinations on YouTube, where if I bought the Blicks brand I would have to figure out on my own, which colours would work good together.
So, I asked to try both brands. I found the Blicks brand to be more smooth when I coloured with them.
The price was quite a bit cheaper as well, but the deciding factor was the smoothness of them.

To help me decipher the coloured pencil colours, I am planning on making a colour chart.
I don't usually do this, I just normally wing it.
But I thought I would with these coloured pencils.
I made a grid on the type of paper that I will been using for the pencils and then I stamped this open image on the grid.
I will add the colours as I go along. This way I don't have to clean my blending stumps after each colour as I would be using them for whichever image I am colouring at the time.
I think I will be copying this chart as it took a few tries to get this perfect and without smears, lol.

Onto My Day:
Ashley had an appointment early this morning and wanted me to come with her.
We had a storm last night, and her jeep doors and windows were frozen. She had to pour hot water on the windows for them to thaw out.
When I went to open the door, the handle (and the whole door) was so frozen, Ashley had to open it from the inside.
When I got home, I stayed in the rest of the day.
Tomorrow is suppose to be more of the same….sadly, this isn't an April fools joke :(

I hope you all had a very creative Tuesday :)

Tracy :)
