February layout from SCT planner sketch

Another layout!!!
Another layout where I used Scrapbook & Cards Today sketch from my planner.
It is the sketch from February.
If you had noticed all of my layouts from these sketches have been not only Christmas themed layouts, but they have all been on my grandson Sawyer ;)

I started a tradition with Sawyer, where I read him "Twas the Night Before Christmas" on Christmas Eve.
When my daughter's were young, we would read from this Christmas book all during the holiday season, then when they were old enough to read, they would read the stories to me.
So I love that I could continue this with my grandson :)

I knew I wanted to scrapbook this tradition, but when I found this paper with the whole story written on it from Graphic 45's "Christmas Past" collection...I just knew I needed to use this paper...how perfect!!!!
For the title I used my label maker with gold backing and backed it with papers from Recollections "Joyful Christmas" collection.

I love this little cluster I created in the corner.
I cut the tag with my Stampin' Up tag punch from the Recollections paper.
The doily was inked with Distress ink and the ornament piece was from a Christmas gift tag that I kept as I thought it was to pretty to get rid of ;)
If you look closely, you can see a bit of sparkly  thin thread. I purchased a whole collection of different colours from the dollar store before Christmas.

Here is the sketch provided by Scrapbook & Cards Today in my Creative Planner I purchased from them.
Just to show that being it was a sketch for February and was mainly a heart themed layout, I took it in a whole new way.
I used a square shape instead of the heart, and my cluster was in the opposite corner of the layout
Mind you I would love to do a heart layout as well ;)

I actually made my layout in December, before I even made the January layout.
But I wanted a double page layout for this one, and February's sketch fit perfectly for this page.
Here are both of the pages side by side...February and December's.
To see a closer look at December's layout check out This post

Because both of these have photos on the layouts...I can count them as complete...right Kristy?!

I hope you all have a very Creative Day :)

March's Card Challenge and a Banana Split

I can finally share my card for Phillane's and my Monthly card challenge we have going on for each other.

The Challenges for this month is.
1.Spring Theme
2. Envelope Pocket Card
3. Image of Choice
4. at least 4 Layers
5. Washi tape.

1.For the Spring theme I used one of my favourite paper packs from Graphic 45, the Once Upon a Springtime collection.
At one time I had 2, 12x12 packs and 2, 8x8 packs. I am down to one of each now…time to hoard, lol
2. I made my envelope pocket card that I had designed for the class I taught back in February.
To see the tutorial on this type of card Check out my Video.
3. Coloured this cute image from "Great Impressions" with my Copic markers.
4. I have many layers to this card. The flower itself has 4 layers with the butterflies on it
5. Washi Tape, I kind or forgot about that element so added it to the inside of the card and to the back.

I cut the paper title from the paper…if you didn't know it was a Spring themed card, I spelt it out for you ;)

Here is my layered flower.
The nylon butterfly is from the dollar store. I changed the colour of it with some coloured spray.
I even used some rose trim.

I actually matched my Copic colours to this paper. Usually I just colour my image and match up the papers later…as I have so much paper it is never a problem, teehee.
But I wanted to match her dress up perfectly with these papers.

Here is the video I did of my card :)
If you would like to watch it on my YouTube Channel, click on Tracy's Treasures24

Here is the Phillane's card she made for me for March :)
Isn't this so cute. I love the palm tree, it has so much texture to it :)
Of course this little Pure Innocence girl is adorable as well.

Tomorrow starts my Healthy eating.
I do have one lunch and one supper out this month that I know of, but besides that, I am going to eat healthy. I will have a can of Coke on the weekends, but will cut it out for the weekdays again. And I will drink more water.
So tonight we had Banana Splits for dessert ;)
Cute dishes eh?
I picked these up years ago when we had dessert every Sunday :)

I am sad that there is no Walking Dead on tonight, so we are watching 28 Days Later ;)

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and a creative Walking Deadless Sunday ;)

January Card Challenge

My friend Phillane wanted to us to do a monthly card challenge.
What we do is every month, we are going to come up with about 5 things we should do on a card and then mail each other our cards that we had made.

For January:
File Folder Card
CC Design image to colour
Use Sparkle
Use our stash.
It is Phillane's Birthday this month, so I made mine into a Birthday card for her.

As you can see I have followed our challenge prompts to a tee…I am a stickler for the rules ;)

Here is this little cutie in a bit more detail :)
Look I even added lace to mimic snow…I hardly ever use lace on my paper crafts.

I made a video if you want to hear more about our challenge and see this card in more detail :)
I still can't get my videos in screen, so here is the link to my YouTube channel.
Tracy's Treasures 24

Today I told Wayne that he should have is Black & Tan that he has once a year.
He usually has it on New Years, but because he was so sick, he never got to have it.
So as he enjoyed his drink, I enjoyed mine….a frosty glass of Coca-Cola :)
This can of coke was in the back of the fridge for a whole week and it was partly frozen ;)
Wayne was so looking forward to his drink, he couldn't wait for the photo shoot to be complete before grabbing his drink, lol.

Just in case you are wondering, Black & Tan is Harp Ale and Guinness beer. The reason for the name, is when you slowly pour the darker beer in, if you are good, it will float on the lighter coloured beer.

I spent the day doing a bit of writing and organizing my flair buttons :) I will share that in another post though.
I hope you all had a creative Sunday :)
If you want to join me with these card challenges, I would love to see what you come up with :)

September Monthly Tag for Tim Holtz challenge

*Warning*
This post is going to be picture heavy ;)
I have completed my Tag for Tim Holtz monthly tag challenge for September.

Tim focused on his stencils and his distress paints for this month.
I found one of his stencils on our trip and I picked up some of his distress paints as well..but we will get to those in a minute.

I have enjoyed not only coming up with creative ways to make Tim's monthly tags, but also to come up with alternative ways to use the supplies I have.
As we all know, as much as we would love to, we can't all have all of his great supplies :)
I am also making my tags to go with a theme for that month.
So when I think of September I think of the start of school.

One of the supplies Tim used was embossing paste.
I have never heard of this, but it sure looked like drywall compound.
Can you tell I do home repairs as well ;)
My drywall compound was old and mostly dried up, as I have been working on my downstairs bathroom forever and by the looks of this container...took a real long break, lol.
But at the very bottom of the container I found some I could work with.

I have to say...this technique I loved!!!!
I like the dimension it gives and it came out so crisp and clean.

The next step was to use Picket Fence distress paint and dab it on over another of his stencils.
I have a lot of stencils from when I went to school, many moons ago, so I just used one of them. I save everything, lol.
I guess I didn't read Tim's instructions well, as he stated to use a clean sponge, lol.

Now to play with his distress paints.
I picked up 2 sets on our trip.
One with my darker colours and the other set more pastel colours.
I am on the fence about these.
The seemed to make my tag paper pill. But I am more sure it was from me adding to much water to the tag.
Also it looked like when Tim did it, they blended so much more nicely.
But then again this is my first time using them.

Tim used more stencils, so I pulled out some of mine and added distress inks...I think distress inks are my favourite of all Tim Holtz products.
I also added some distress ink (black soot) to the raised stencil area.
See how the distress paints seemed to resist the colour of the picket fence I used on the alphabet stencil...so cool.
This is the point where I had to get ready to go to the cottage for the weekend.
I swear this tag was calling my name all weekend, I even had a dream about it, lol.

Note to Self
Don't bring my phone in my craft area while creating...I will loose it in all the creative chaos.

I wanted to use this washi tape for the tags ribbon.
But it was a bit on the white side, so I used distress ink to give it that aged look to match the tag better.
I then went back and used a darker colour.
I then folded the washi tape and stuck it to itself and fed it through the tags hole.
I then added some twine and my charm.

Lets take a closer peek at the details, shall we ;)
I used a stamp set that came with one of my Pure Innocence girls for the saying.
A closer look at the ruler stencil :)
See the little map stamp of Canada? :)

See how I used the tissue/washi tape in place of the ribbon.
I used a fishing swivel to attach the "inspire" disk to the ribbon.
I have used this many times over the years, but these swivels were a pain to open. I told Wayne, a man would have not fought with them as I had, they would have thrown them over the boat first try, lol.
I used my Graphic 45 school papers for this tag. I really like that collection.
I also used a dotted banner stamp in burgundy at the top.

A few other embellishments I used is the pen nib....I really do love these.  I also do calligraphy, maybe that is why.
Also a clock charm. Not sure about you, but I always watched the clock in class ;)
A closer look at how the Picket Fence resisted the paints. Even though it was a little coloured up from my sponge ;)

And there you have it my September tag for Tim Holtz monthly challenge.
I really had fun with this one :)
It seems like forever since I have been in my craft room.

I hope you all had a creative Monday :)

Edited to add my planner page challenge photo. I was so excited that I got Tim's tag completed I totally forgot to post my planner photo and today is the last day :)

Design Team Day for LBBS..Miss Lily with Net

Today is my Design Team day for Little Blue Button Stamps (LBBS)
Well I used that image from the other day.
I was so excited to use one of Olga's awesome images for July (we could have shared them today), but I ran out of time, with running my sister around town, and then Kristy with her Prom.
So I used the image I coloured up the other day.
Miss Lily with hoop net.

Here is a closer look at this cutie :)
I coloured her up with my Copics, but forgot to put the markers aside...and here I was doing so good at that.

I used the paper pack from Graphic 45's Song Bird.
Honestly this wasn't one of my favourite paper packs of theirs, but I really do like how the papers worked with this card.
I was planning on using the dark paper with the butterfly background as the main focus on this card, and Miss Lily popped so nicely on it as well.
Funny how things change as you create ;)

I also used this sketch from MFT Wednesday's Stamp club.

Again here is the card so you can see how I used the sketch :)

I hope you all had a creative Friday :)
