How did my daughter get smarter than me?

I so need to get away today. I am sooooo looking forward to going to our camp tonight.
I need to smell the lake.
I need to feel the sun on my face.
I need to sit on the lawn swing and just relax and look down at our little piece of paradise.
Today was an eye opening day for me.

My dad didn't phone me in the morning (he does every day). So I phoned him, no answer, maybe he is in the bathroom.
So I took Ashley to bring her MacBook Pro in to get repaired. It isn't working, such a sad day for her, plus she didn't back up any pictures since Feb.(keeping fingers crossed for her). Then I dropped her off at her friends place.

I had a lunch date with my friend Debbie at 1:00 (a late BDay lunch for me). I had some time to spare so I checked out a couple crafty stores. I phoned my dad just before lunch again no answer....maybe he is in the shower.
I enjoyed my lunch but at the same time worrying about my dad. Debbie even offered to come an check on him with me...what a good friend.

Phoned him again before I went to the bank....still no answer. Now I am thinking I am going to find him dead in his bed when I go and check on him. I can actually picture this. Its not always good to have a creative imagination.
I phone him one more time as I am driving to check on him. Ya I know, I never use the cell when I am driving. Still no answer yup my worst fear is coming true.

I RUN up to his apartment as I put the key in the handle I knock. He yells "YA".....Ok so he's not dead thank goodness.
,But he is laying on his bedroom floor and can't get up. It took me about an hour to help him up. He kept saying his back was sore. He refused to go to the hospital, or for me to call an ambulance. I should have though.
I told him I was scared I though he was dead or something. You know what he said..."Well you should have came here the 1st time you phoned". ...WTF, are you kidding me.
I went from Concerned, to Scared, to Relieved, to Angry.

I told him he can't live on his own anymore. He fell twice in two days. Its not fair to him or to me. If I was away at camp or on my trip he would have laid there until I got back as I seem to be the only one of my siblings that takes care or even checks on him.
He finally said he is lonely and depressed. So maybe that is his way of being ok with it.
I asked how he fell he gave me 3 different reasons and none of them were possible.

When I picked up Ashley I told her what happened. I told her I don't want to take away his independence. Ashley gave me a wake up call. She said "Mom he isn't independent. you prepare his meals, you clean his apartment, you take him to all his appointments, he needs you to do everything for him. He is not independent. He is dependent on you."
She also said quite firmly "Mom this isn't fair to you, you had to deal with this shit all during your childhood, that why you moved out at 16. Now you have to deal with all of this on your own. Where was your parents and family when you were on your own, not seeing if you even needed food to eat. It not fair to you." Now this brought some tears to my eyes.

So when I got home I phoned my sister to tell her to check on him. She said that she brought him some of him medication a few days ago. He is on heavy narcotics because of the pain due to his severe rheumatoid arthritis. He seems to go on a binge when he gets his prescription refilled.

I am going to the States with my girls and Sharon on Monday. Nothing is keeping me from going I need this. Plus I already exchanged my money and got Health Insurance. :)

Sorry for this long bummer of a post, but as I have said before this is like an online diary for me.
When I get back from my mini vacation I am going to be looking for some places for my dad that he will get the care that he needs.

Hope you had a good Friday. Ohh I can smell the fresh air already.

I found my thrill, on Blueberry hill

Ohhh this was so delicious. I used some of the blueberries that I picked last weekend. Kind of hard to loose the 10 lbs I had planned on losing this summer when I keep eating yummy, sweet treats like this. Don't ya think.
Yup it was good. Kristy is at a sleepover tonight. Ashley doesn't like pie. So it is just Hubby, Heather and I. Humm cut a pie in thirds. Ohhhh I like the sounds of that. Because if you really think about it, pie isn't as good the next day, the crust gets soggy.
So Ya I am off to get another piece :) As I watch Gran Torino...Love this movie.

Today I finished off my book work. I just have to envelope and mail the bills. Ohhh it feels so good to balance month end.
I took Kristy to the movie theatre to watch a movie with her boy/friend.
Ashley, Heather and I went to the Mission Marsh Conservation Area, as they wanted to take some photos.

One other thing happened today, it scared me. My dad had a doctor's appointment today in the later afternoon. I got there early as he told me he had a small fall in the bedroom. He got tangled in his oxygen tube.
Well I helped him get ready and we started to head down the hallway. He has been slowing down lately, so this didn't surprise me. Then we get to the stairs and I noticed his breathing was getting loud. I told him to sit on his walker seat to catch his breath. He didn't.
He got about 1/2 way down the stairs and just sat..plunk. I noticed that his lips were purple. Of course I got concerned and told him I was taking him to the hospital instead.
He refused and slowly went back to his apartment.
So I stayed with him for a few hours. Cleaned his apartment and made him some meals and put them in the fridge.
He slept most of the time I was there. But his breathing slowed and his colouring came back.
Boy he is a stubborn ol' man.
I have phoned him a few times and went to see him tonight and its like nothing happened.

Makes you think, I'll tell you.

Take care and I hope you had a good Thursday.

She's a big girl now LOL

Isn't this what you want to see when you go outside to relax under the gazebo.

My daughter spotted this huge spider. It made a web on my Shepard's hook. It is gigantic. Hubby thought I was holding it in this picture. Ya right!! LOL.
I can't even kill spiders, no matter what they are or how small they are. If they are in the house I have to get a piece of TP or paper towel and pick them up and throw them outside. I can't stand the popping noise they make when they get squished. I get all squeamish.Today Ashley took my baby....I mean my jeep out on her own for the first time. She took Kristy to a friends house. I had to try and get all these awful images out of my head of her getting in an accident. I have always had to fight off images of my girls getting hurt. Like for instance when they were younger and were playing by the flowerbeds. I would have these images of them falling and cracking their head open on the cement blocks. No matter what they were doing I had these scary images of them seriously hurting themselves.

Mind you I think I did pretty good in hiding my fears today. Hubby on the other hand is so worried that she may get in an accident and our insurance will go up. Or that she will put to many miles on the jeep....Lighten up buddy LOL.

Today I worked all day, besides a few errands. But I did finally open up my happy mail:)
All I can say is WOW. You ladies rock. I so need to get out some Thank You cards.

I had to put it in 2 parts because it was over 13 minutes and YouTube only does 10 minute videos.

Well I am still working and hoping to get it all done by Friday.

Hope you had a creative day

Working day or I mean week

Yes this is my dining room table. My plan was to work non-stop all day. But if you follow my blog my plans never work out the way that they should.
On the end of my table I have two packages that are calling out my name. I am refraining on opening them, in order to make a video so the gift givers can see me open them.

As I said my day was not spent at home working ALL day. I had to run out to the gravel pit (Hubby's business) to sign some checks. So I figured since I had to go out there anyway that I would bring hubby a burger and pop for lunch.

Kristy wanted to go to the movies with her friend Blake. As I was driving her there most of the street lights were out. When I went down Blake's street it was flooded. He said that they got hail as well. We live no more then 15 minutes away and we only got a bit of rain.
Well as it turned out the movie theatre had no power. So I brought them back home to watch some movies.

Then I worked the rest of the day.

Just so my post isn't boring. I thought that I would share with you some pictures of my nephew Tom trying to pet one of the chipmunks that is always visiting us. If anyone has watched the cartoon movie "Tiny Toons. How I Spent My Vacation". Tom reminded me of the little girl with the tiger when she squeezes it and says, "I'm gonna love you, and squeeze you and love you forever".
Tuesday already, time goes by so fast when you take an extra long weekend :)

Time to say Good Bye

Our last day at camp with the family.
Boy we are going to miss this little cutie.
Here I am (age spots and all with no make up LOL) with little Tom.

We had to leave at about 2:00 as Heather had to grease the trucks, and it takes about 5-6 hours to complete.
I brought my work to do as she worked on the trucks. It is month end billing and balancing. I have to get it done before Friday. We go to camp this weekend and then my girls, Sharon and I head off to Duluth for a few days. I am so looking forward to this.

So I off to work I go :)

Hope you had an excellent weekend, hope it was a crafty one.

Fun filled day

Today was my BIL Jim's 59th birthday.

Went for my morning walk and my evening walk. I need to with all the food that is being served this weekend.
I visited my neighbour, Sonja and her baby robins. Sorry for the poor picture quality but I took this through her dirty window LOL.

I did get a picture of mama feeding her babies.
I love having the family visiting and sitting around chatting. But I can't sit in one place, I get antsy. So Hubby, Jim and I went to pick some blueberries. We went down an old logging road, where Wayne and I picked last weekend, the picking was good there.
I forgot my bucket, brought Wayne's though. I found a large freezer bag in the truck and filled that up. I probably picked 4 liters, hubby about 3 and Jim about 2.5.
The wasps didn't finish rebuilding their nest when the bear dug them up from last weekend. So they were busy.

I cleaned out another flower bed. It is under the old pine tree. I am surprised anything grows in it as it is always full of pine needles.
Everyone sits under the pine tree for shelter, be it from the sun or a light rain. Unfortunately our tree is losing more and more needles every year and not getting any new growth. I am planning for a new gazebo when this happens.
As I was weeding my friendly bunny came by to check and see what I was doing.

Lots of swimming again today as the day was beautiful. We couldn't have asked for a better weekend.

We lit up the sky

We finally had our fireworks. Hubby and Jim went to down to the beach and shot them over the lake. So pretty.
Good Job Guys :)
I went for my morning walk down the pipe line...alone.... this morning. I also went for my walks around the motel 4 times. Such a nice day.
The camp neighbour (Wayne) is from Wisconsin, he has a family farm. He brought us 14 ears of sweet corn. He has been bringing up corn and sharing it with everyone for a couple of years now. It is the best, sweetest corn I have ever tasted.
We gave Jim and Ashley the job of husking it.

Yumm, warm corn with butter and a touch of salt.

Jim and I went to pick some blueberries down at the rapids. It only takes about 20 minutes to get there by quad. Jim brought his up and I used ours. It is the first time I took it out this year. I forgot how much I enjoyed driving it. The berry picking sucked. I use a 4 liter ice cream bucket and got it only 1/4 of the way full.

The lake was well used today. It was pretty hot out. Wayne, Kristy and Ashley swam across the lake. Heather and I took the kayaks.
Doreen, David and Amanda played cards most of the day, under the shade of the big pine tree. Little Tom enjoyed the water and all the attention my girls gave to him.

Had a nice camp fire. We roasted some marshmallows, made some smores and enjoyed some banana boats. Are wondering what banana boats are? What you do is take a banana, cut a sliver length ways out of it, cut up a marshmallow and some chocolate slivers. Now put them in the banana and put back the piece of banana you cut out. Wrap it up with tinfoil and put it in the fire. Oh ya you keep the peel on the banana. Yummy.

Hope your Saturday was a relaxing one.
