A Recollections kind of day

Today was an excellent day.
I got to see 2 of my good friends.
I went to Michael's.
And I bought my mini stand with my 40% off coupon...so take that Michael's...HA.

I have been trying to buy this stand for a couple of weeks now, but it has been on sale for 25% off.
If you know me, then you know I am thrifty...or cheap which ever, lol.
I had a 40% off coupon in my hand both times, and refused to only get 25% off.
Well today was my day. I used my coupon and received my 40% off :)
(the flowers are from Mother's Day :)

All Recollections stuff (besides the stand) was 40% off so I picked up these sweet mini tags :)

I also picked up (again Recollections) these journal tags for 40% off.

Onto My Day:
Kristy stayed home all day. She is feeling a little bit better tonight, so she is hoping to go to her Co-Op and school tomorrow.
Wayne was off all day as he had a doctor's appointment later in the afternoon. So decided to stay home.
My girlfriend Kelly came by for a visit. Love when my friends come and drop by :)
We went to Vanderwee's Greenhouse. They have so much stuff there, way more then just plants and out door stuff. But sadly they got rid of their crafts section years ago :(
Then we went to McDonald's as Kelly wanted to get my girls Smoothies, as Kristy wanted something cold for her throat.

Then after supper I called my girlfriend Debbie to meet me at Michael's.
It was so nice to get out with her again. We use to go out every Tuesday night. Just go to the mall, or go for a walk, just to spend time together. We haven't done that in awhile.
We then went to a few more stores, then went to Tim Horton's for coffee.   Well she had an iced latte and me a chocolate milk and we each had a donut ;)

I hope you all had a creative Tuesday :)
I may have not created a craft project, but there is nothing better then seeing your friends. I think that is pretty creative :)

Happy 16th Rose

Today is our cat Rose's 16th Birthday.
She is sweet 16, lol.

She is actually Heather's cat. They have the same personality too.
When Heather was in grade 2 all she wanted for Christmas, was a cat.
So Ashley and I went to the Humane Society to adopt Heather a cat.
She was quiet, while all the other cats were meowing and would stick their paws out of the cages.
Rose just sat there seeming to have no care in the world.
Plus she looked like Wayne's childhood cat Veikko.

When Ashley and I came home we rang the door bell, and Wayne made sure Heather opened the door.
The look on her face was priceless, it brought me to tears.
Which isn't hard to do to me.

Onto My Day:

I haven't been creating to much lately.
Not because I don't want to, but I seem to run out of time. Plus I have a test that I have to go for next month and I am kinda freaking out about it. They keep changing the date, or how I have to prep for it, but more on that another day, maybe.

Kristy's throat is really sore, so she stayed home from Co-Op today. She works around food, so I think the customers would be happy she did :)
She did go to school this afternoon though.
Then Heather and I went out.
Heather has been really wanting to try the new Dairy Queen's confetti cake blizzard. The girls went out the other night to try it, but it was sold out.
They had them in today, but it was too frozen to serve, ironic isn't it. We had to wait over an hour before they could serve it. So we ran to Chapters, Staples and Superstore to waste time in order for her to get it.
She did get it, and didn't like it too much, lol.

Hope you all had a creative Monday, and I hope to have a creative Tuesday ;)

My Life Treasures on Mother's day

Happy Mothers Day to all the Mothers out there.Whether you have children of your own, or had a part in raising a child. I hope you all had a great day today.

Here are my babies :)
These young ladies have made being a mom the best experience of my life.
I enjoy spending time with them and miss them when they aren't around.
I treasure them so much and Love these girls with all my heart.
Thank you Kristy, Ashley and Heather for making not only this day, but every day a treasure to have you here in my life
Ashley took this photo for me :)

They know how I love hand made cards, so they snuck in my craft room and whipped me up one.
They like to call me Momma Bear ;)

Here is the inside of their card......I know where is the recipe/index card. I feel as I have failed them, lol.

I figured Mother's day is a no calorie day. Not in the meaning that I shouldn't eat any, but in the meaning that they don't count today:)
So what is better then some healthy fruit.....dipped in melted chocolate, the good chocolate :)
The first time I tried this I was about 15.
I was baby sitting. I  put some chocolate chips in a Tupperware container to melt them in the microwave.
I had never used a microwave before, so didn't know that you couldn't put Tupperware in a microwave.
I melted a hole in her container. So after I ate the chocolate;) I hid her melted container in the bottom of their garbage, lol.

Onto My Day:
I got to sleep in, I mean really sleep in. But then again I did stay up until 3:00am to watch the Dudeson's last night ;)
The girls bought me a cake that Kristy made at her Co-op, beautiful flowers and a gift certificate to a Cosmetic and day spa. The sweetest part, Ashley also bought one for herself as well so we can go together :)
I am not one for pampering. I have never got a manicure, I only get my hair cut once a year, seriously I usually just trim it myself.
Knowing this, I guess Ashley knew I would go if she wanted to go:)

My day was spent watching zombie movies and the new  Underworld (yes I like vampires as well) with Wayne. The girls picked up dinner, so I didn't have to cook, not that I would have anyway, lol.
Watching the season finales of our television shows and catching up on a bit of book work.

I hope each and everyone of you had a creative Mothers day :)

Kristy's happy day and some calamari

Tonight Hubby and I went out for supper.
Just the two of us. We usually go out as a family, I love to go out with the whole family.
But tonight was just Wayne and I :)
We went to the Keg. Yummy calamari.
Wayne ordered Steak and Lobster, and I ordered chicken, ribs with a side of shrimp.
I was only able to eat half of my meal. So I have leftovers, I see Heather has been into them already, lol.

Today was a good day for Kristy.
We bought her a new bed for her birthday and it finally came today.
On each of my daughters 16th birthdays they get a new bed. That way when they move out on their own, they get to take their bed with them :)
Kristy didn't want her bed last year for her 16th, but she did this year :)

Kristy also wanted a flat screen television.
She is a pretty good saver, so she decided to buy one.
So Wayne and Kristy went out early this morning to pick it up.
She wanted it mounted on the wall, so I picked up the wall mount for her.
It took a while to hang it, but it looks pretty good up there.
It is at the end of her bed.
I told her I didn't have a set up like this at her age. But then again I was living on my own in a basement apartment. I had a tiny black and white television that I picked up at a yard sale. I couldn't afford cable, mind you that didn't matter as the reception sucked, lol.

Onto My Day:
I slept in, yeaaaaa.
Most of the day was spent putting Kristy's bed and television together and up :)
Supper with Wayne.
Now going to check out some blogs :)

Hope you all had a creative Saturday :)

Defunkifying my Life..part 5 Bedroom Closet

I am still at it...Defunkifying my life.
Today I worked on my bedroom closet.
This is the organized, almost completed closet clean up.
No one wants to see the messy photo right.
LOL, I know everyone wants to see the messy photos, it makes all your closets look not as bad as mine, lol.

Here is the before, scary isn't it. And this isn't the worst part of my home either :O
I couldn't even shut the closet door....crazy eh.
I blame it on hubby.....its my blog so I can. When he gets his own blog he can blame me ;)
Okay.. what to start with.
From the top is the best way I guess.
DVDs, yup we are avid movie watchers in this home. We have watched every movie here at least twice, some probably over 10 times....can you guess which types we watched over and over, lol.
The movies were only suppose to be on the top shelf of the closet, but as you see they did not get put back where they belonged.
My excuse, I am under 5' and its to high. Some of my daughters can make that same excuse.....Wayne, he doesn't have an excuse, lol.
I almost always colour upstairs so that is why my Copics are in here.
I have no explanation on why all that sh1t is on the floor. Dumping Ground :(

I made this whole shelf organizer from scratch about 10+ years ago.
A friend of ours gave me 2 huge sheets of this melamine shelving. I drew out my plans to make these. Wayne didn't want anything to do with it.
So if you know me, I said a few choice words and did them myself.
They aren't perfect but they work perfectly for us.
Of course all the boxes are labeled. I have one for income tax stubs (prescriptions, dental, tax receipts), my Stampin Up markers, cameras, music, candles and my label maker :)

Again here it is all clean and organized. I still have to go through our clothes though.
Top shelf is our movies.....ummmm there are almost 3 full stacks of movies.
Then I have a couple of books I wanted to fill out for the girls.
My summer hat, and a purse.
Then the cubes, I explained them above.
The skinny shelf holds my purses. It used to hold my shoes, but I have more purses then shoes. When I get a new purse I have to get rid of one of these, so I better pick wisely ;)
When I made this cubby shelving unit, I made it so the laundry basket could fit underneath here.
See my copics peeking out on the floor on the right ;)

Some tips to organizing your closet.
1. Remove-Take everything out of your closet
2. Clean- use some cleaner and wipe the shelves down.
3. Sort- Put all like items together.
4. Purge- Get rid of anything you no longer love, or need. Even if that skirt still fits you from 1985, donate it, you deserve something new ;)
5. Organize- Put away and organize the remaining items.
Tip...when putting other items away, don't dwell on that new area, keep focused on your task at hand.
I had to file some papers that were in here. When I went to the file cabinet I thought, I should re organize these...DON'T, that will be for another day...just stay focused.

Now go and clean out your closet.

I hope you all enjoyed a creative Friday :)

Zentangle, spiders and getting lost on a hike

Have you heard of Zentangles.
I had just heard of it on 2 Peas on the stamping board.
Here is a description of them Zentangles.
I love to learn and try my hand at all types of arts and crafts, so I thought I would give it a go.
Here is my finished piece.

So what I did was make a circle mask and stamped this image inside the circle.
Then I made my marks evenly around the circle that I drew.

Then you mark off sections and start to doodle patterns within each section.
These are normally done on 2 1/2 " square pieces of paper. But you know I'm not normal and have to try something different ;)

Here is is all done.
I have a problem with black and white images like this.
Like with the smell of black pencil crayons (yes I am odd) these images seem to give me a headache. And because I love colour, I thought I would add some pizazz to it :)

So I used my Stampin Up water markers to colour in the doodles.
Now this is more my style :)
I am not sure how I like it, I didn't go into a Zen like state while drawing this. Not sure if I will ever do another one again.
But I am glad that I tried my hand at one.

I think I like my doodling better :)

On to My Yesterday:
Well it was a gorgeous day. I didn't sit outside all day, but it was a beautiful one.
 Hilarious story...well to me ;)
Kristy and I went out in the jeep. I opened the window for a bit to cool down the jeep. Then rolled them up. Unaware that a spider came in Kristy's window, dangling on its web thread.
Luckily I was at a stop sign, as she freaked out, undid her seat belt and practically jumped into my lap, lol.
I was laughing so hard, as I put the jeep in park and tried to find the button to open the window. I told her to blow on the spider, then it will float out the window and then close it. I don't think she heard me over her screams.
It did finally go out the window and she rolled it up.
I am still laughing about it. I guess I won't be getting a mother of the year award for this one, lol.

Onto My Day:
After driving Kristy to her co-op, my childhood friend, Kelly and I went to the Cascades for a long hike. We hadn't seen each other in about 1 1/2 years. You wouldn't think so though.
We were following the trails, and looking at the beautiful scenery and laughing our butts off.
When we noticed that the trails got rougher and the trail markers were no longer.
We climbed up a huge hill and at the top was a lady walking her dogs.
We asked her if the parking lot was coming up, which she informed us that there was a field ahead, no parking lot.
Seriously, because I had to pick Kristy up from Co Op in about 45 minutes and we had been walking for well over an hour, closer to 1 1/2 hours.
I don't know how many times Kelly and I get lost during our hikes, lol.
So we hiked back the way we came, but didn't check out the water falls.
As it turned out I was 10 minutes late to pick up Kristy, but we found her walking home, she was 1/2 way there.
Yup, I'll be lucky to get a Mothers day card from her this year, lol.

Hope you all had a creative Thursday :)

Redonkulous DT card is so Sassy

Today is Redonkulous Design Team Day :)
I was given this sassy image called  Seduction Suzie.
I thought I would make this card for my FIL's birthday ;)
I think he will get a kick out of her ;)

I coloured her with my Copics, surprise, surprise ;)
I paper pieced her dress. Whenever I paper piece an image, I always add shading to the pattern paper. It gives it more dimension instead of it looking like it was just popped onto the image.
I added liquid pearls to her hair bands and added some shine to her eyes and lips.

I printed up the sentiment on my computer, I thought this is fitting for my FIL's card.
I couldn't make it girly, as its a masculine card, so I added some metal embellishments to man it up ;)

Here is the inside of the card.
I just used some of the same papers from the front of the card and added a journal spot.

To see the other ladies Design Team project just click on their names:
Kate
or you can go to Kim's blog as she has them all ;)

I haven't really joined any challenges before, but I thought I would give it a go.
*I am participating in Ashley's sketch challenge. It is a double page layout sketch, but I took the one side of the sketch layout and used it here for my card.
*I am also participating in my local scrapbooking store DAT'S challenge. It is to make a masculine card. Even though this card isn't your average masculine card, lol.

Onto My Day:
Every second Wednesday is my DT project, which has to be posted early in the morning, like I am still in bed early in the morning, lol.
So I can't post my day. So just imagine me enjoying an ice cold coke, sitting under my gazebo reading a wonderful book, trying not to get a sun burn in the heat of the day.
LOL, sorry that was me wishing how my day would be spent, lol.
I would be happy to see the sun for a few seconds as we have had a drab few days here, and if I was to be sitting outside, it would be with a warm sweater and a blanket, lol.

I hope you all had a creative Wednesday :)

Tracy :)
