Girls Creative Getaway

If you have been a reader of my blog and know anything about me, then you know how important my family and friends are to me.

Every year my girlfriend (of over 30+years) and I go on a little trip.
For the last (many years) we have been going to Mink Mountain.
We rent a cabin for 4 days, we create, hike, relax in the hot tub and just enjoy each other's friendship.

Hard to tell, but we just walked up a huge hill, and complained the whole time....but we did it again the next day, lol.

Debbie taking a photo of the solar eclipse...I kept telling her she needed to get back inside.
Silly lady, but I think she may have got a photo of it.

This little cutie came right up to our patio door.
He even brought us a dead bird, lol.
I think he wanted to exchange it for what we were having for dinner, lol.

We enjoyed a nice hot tub every night.
Scrapbooking all day and night as well as our hikes, this sure eased our muscles.
And besides the spiders that I had to clear away for Debbie, we had a couple of these beauties come and visit us during our soak.

Such a beautiful view of the lake from the cabins deck!
Love Lake Superior.

First place I stopped before heading home, was to visit this little guy.
I think he even missed me.
After I fed him lunch, he fell asleep in my arms...I didn't want to put him down.

As much as I missed him, I did get to see him a lot in photos this week, as all my scrapbook pages were of him.
He will have his album completed before my own daughters are, lol.

I hope you all have a very creative day and I plan on sharing my layouts soon :)

Crops and Critters

I am so excited I can't contain myself.
It is time for my Girl's Getaway with my friend Debbie.
Every year we rent a really nice cabin with a hot tub.
We relax, chat, create, chat, walk the trails, chat and soak in the hot tub...and you guessed it..chat :)
Here is what I am taking...this is only my crafty stuff.
How do you like my 3 legs in the mirror, lol.

We were at the cottage this weekend and I enjoyed some of the critters there.
This toad loves it here.
I found him inside this old birdhouse one weekend,
Then last weekend, Wayne found him in the BBQ cover, so I got his birdhouse and got him to crawl back in there.
This weekend he was on the side of the BBQ under the cover.

I again, got his birdhouse and got him to crawl on top of it.
Then I put it under the deck as that is where he was the first time I had seen him.

I then had fun watching the many chipmunks we have in our yard.
A baby chipmunk actually ran up the back of my shirt and back down, while I was sitting on the steps.
And this sneaky little guy kept climbing up the shepherds hook to get to the bird's seeds.
That was until I sprayed some cooking spray on it and he couldn't get up there anymore, teehee.
Then he would sit on my foot or run up my leg looking up at me like "where are my seeds?"
I had such fun that I think all of the neighbours heard me laughing :)

Not sure how the signal is going to be up at Mink Mountain, so not sure how much I will be on the internet :)
But what I do know is, I am going to have a blast!!

Hope you all have a very creative day :)

Girls Get Away at Mink Mountain

Every year my friend Debbie and I go to Mink Mountain for a bit of a crafty getaway.
This year we timed it perfectly…..3 days after Ashley's wedding.
I needed some down time :)

We spend most of our time creating.
This year we did lots of scrapbooking!!!!
We also did our hikes…I love these hikes :)

I brought my "big boy" camera.
Looks like I know what I'm doing with it…I don't, lol.
I love this photo Debbie took of me, I actually look tall, lol.

A deer came and visited us one morning :)

One of the neighbours out there has a garden and sets out veggies for anyone who would like them.

This year the cooler was empty :(
But I love the generosity of this neighbour…I even made her/him a thank you card one year.
I just left it by the cooler.

An Inukshuk a different neighbour made for the entrance to their camp/home.

Here is part of one of the trails that we walked along.
This trail was the Lake view trail.
So many roots and many of them were all that was holding the soil together.
The lake below eroded the earth underneath it…so cool to walk on…unless of course it ever gave away, teehee.

To continue on our walk, we needed to use the rope to climb up the mountain.
It is so steep..and again, so cool.

This root looks like a hand trying to grab on for dear life.

We saw a duck and a crane on our walk.
I only had my portrait lens on, so couldn't get a very close photo of this guy.

 Me enjoying our walk :)

And look who cooked all of our dinners….thank you Debbie.
Everything was delicious :)

Walking, creating and time spent with a good friend….what can be better than that.
Oh yes, and me not having to cook….Paradise :)

Hope you all had a wonderful and creative weekend :)

Back to Reality

Last day of our Creative Getaway :(
Actually we weren't creative at all, we had to check out by 11:00, so we sat out on the deck and enjoyed the sun and the view.
This photo was taken from the deck.

Here is a closer look at this adorable cottage.
It is so cute.
I love the shutters and of course the hot tun set up on the lower part of the deck.
Debbie and I had figured that we have come to Mink Mountain for the last 5 years, and we have stayed in this cottage 2 of those.

I have to say, the Creative Getaway did get my creative ideas going.
Actually my creative ideas never stop coming, but now I have the urge to try and do them all ;)
So I am going to make time in my days to get some of my projects and ideas completed.

I hope you all had a Creative Day :)

Creative Getaway Day 2. Hiking

Debbie and I did quite a bit of walking.
I have to say I did more walking than creating today.
Why do I look like I'm always confused in selfies?  Lol.
Debbie's friend told her that there was a nice trail to hike just before the border.

So we decided to give it a try. It was well worth it.
Look at this beautiful waterfall.
It is named High Falls.
I was impressed with the trail and how well it was posted to which trail you wanted to hike.

Look at this old chimney.

It is what remains of a 1930's resort lodge.
I was undecided about bringing my "Big Boy" camera, so left it at home. I should have brought it. But did try to be creative with my iPhone angle ;)

Love the texture.
Here our U.S neighbours.

The Pigeon River is what seperates Canada and the USA.
I must get creating now.

I don't think one card is being constructive.  But first I have to try Debbie's nacho dip ;)
Hope you all had a Creative Day.

Creative Getaway Day 1

Made it safe and sound with all craft supplies intact.
We will be enjoying this view for most of the week. Even on this overcast day, it's still gorgeous.
I will be spending this creative week with my beautiful friend Debbie.

Isn't she cute :)
Besides hiking, creating, eating too much unhealthy foods and soaking in the hot tub. I am sure we will be relaxing and enjoying the view with a book in hand.

Night time selfie in the hot tub ;)

Got to get back to playing with paper.
I hope you all had a Creative Day :)
