Happy Birthday to Me

Today is my 51st birthday...It surprises me as I still think I'm in my late 20's, lol.
I had such a great day today.

My youngest daughter Kristy took the day off of work to spend it with me and my middle daughter Heather only worked 1/2 a day so was able to spend the day with me as well.

My day started out with Kristy's making me french toast for breakfast and added banana's and her handpicked blueberries from camp the other day :)
Then my friend Lynne came by for a quick visit and to give me my birthday gift of some crafty goodies :)

I spend the day with 2 of my daughters Heather and Kristy and we went to the Marina to check out the sites.
It was warm today so I walked along the edge of the splash pad...so refreshing and it was so nice to see the little ones playing in the water.


We walked along the shores of Lake Superior, so beautiful to see the sleeping giant resting out in the lake.

The girls went to pick me out a cake.
I know Kristy is the baker in the family, but we have been so busy.
Now you may think this cake looks a bit odd...well it is.
When Kristy went to Safeway to pick up a cake, they told her that they don't make round cakes anymore.
Funny thing is they make 1/2 round cakes.
How they do this is they make a round cake, add the icing and decorate it....then cut it in 1/2.
And the inside (where they cut it) isn't iced, lol.
Seriously...I didn't make this up, lol
So Kristy bought 2, 1/2 cakes and Ashley put them together....which the top layer wanted to slide off of the bottom layer.
But it did tasted yummy :)

I had a wonderful day with the family as they all came over for Chinese food for dinner :)

Happy Birthday Wayne :)

Just a quick post to wish my big guy...my loveable honey Wayne, a Happy 52nd Birthday :)
We have planned a week of fun adventures...just the two of us.
We even enjoyed dessert after supper :)

This is the quickest card I think I have ever made.
I had this image my friend Su had gifted to me on a tag.
I had to cut it down to fit the card and used black cardstock for the background.
Wayne loved the sentiment "A Perfect Gentleman" ;)

Crafting at camp

My SIL Sharon and her husband Jim are up at camp with us this long weekend :)

Besides me going for my morning and evening walks, Sharon and I have crafted most of the day.

We have been working on Pocket Letters….I did make a Thank You card for the couple that invited us for cake last weekend….but forgot to take a picture of it.

Wayne and Jim went for a couple of very long quad rides…in-between the rain.

Today is Jim's birthday, so Sharon brought up a yummy cake.

We invited my FIL and his wife over and we all enjoyed a pieced of Jim's Birthday cake…yum.

It has been an odd long weekend for Wayne and I.

Usually my dad, step mom, my baby brother and his family come up to the cottage for the August Long.

But with Ashley and Tyler's wedding coming soon, they are of course going to come up for that instead.

Also it is just the 4 of us this weekend.

Ashley and Tyler decided to stay home with their new puppy. 

They want him to get used to his surroundings first before bringing him out here.

Kristy and Blake had a wedding to attend to.

And Heather figured it wouldn't be as fun hanging with the old people as it would be hanging with her sisters this weekend, so she stayed home, lol.

We are still enjoying ourselves….just a bit (a lot) quieter this weekend.

Birthday celebration number 2 or is it no.3 ;)

As most of you know, some of my friends and I like to celebrate our birthday's with a dinner out and a movie of our choice.
So tonight was my night to celebrate my birthday from last week.
I decided to go to Montanna's as I was wanting some 3 cheese spinach dip….big mistake.

What could Sharon possibly be laughing at so hard, that she probably peed her pants?

Ummm ya, I wanted to crawl under the table.
Funny as the staff was walking towards us, I was excited to see who's birthday it was and who was going to have to wear the silly horn hat…didn't think for a second it was going to be ME!

But I did get rewarded with a free dessert for my embarrassment.

Then it was show time!
My friends are a bunch of wimps and won't go to any scary movies.
I wanted to see "United We Purge". I had seen the first one and thought it was pretty good.
But nope.
Sharon was willing to give it a try as it was my choice, but Lynne said she would wait for us in the lobby or cry behind her popcorn, lol.

So I decided on Lucy.
It was an okay show. Not one of my top ten though.

But we did get to see it in the AVX.
Actually I wasn't all that impressed with it. I would rather pay a cheaper rate then get the opportunity to pick my seat.

We couldn't get a hold of our friend Denise for a few days, we were actually getting worried.
Come to find out she has been camping and didn't have any cell service where she was.
But she did get back to us as we got to the theatre. So I texted her and told her to meet us there.
So happy that she did.

Enjoyed my evening with my friends and looking forward to the next one :)

It's My Birthday :)

Today is my Birthday :)
My daughter invited us over for a BBQ that her and her boyfriend Tyler put on.
Kristy, Heather and I prepared a potato salad and a taco dip, and Ashley did the rest :)
It was a wonderful evening.

I received some wonderful, sweet gifts from my daughters and my SIL & BIL who were also there.
But I have to say the one I was most impressed with was this one here :)
My daughters picked out some of my favourite treats and put them in a jar…but the best part is that they decorated the jar with washi tape.
My creative heart is just swelling with pride ;)

Onto My Day:
Kristy and I were going to go for a walk this morning, but she had blisters on the back of her heels from yesterday's walk. She said she would still go with me, but I told her to just let them heal first.
Then we went and did some errands…like getting my licence plate sticker as they expire today, being its my birthday.
Kristy and I ran out to pick up my BDay cake that Ashley ordered. While we were there, these "Sally Anns" called out our names.
So we each got one…like I needed more sweets this week, lol.

Kristy insisted that Wayne needed to get me another Birthday gift as he gave me the video camera early, so she didn't think that counted as my gift from him….I like this girl's way of thinking, lol.
Kristy knew I liked these basket holders from the garden centre, so Heather, Kristy and I went to check them out.
Sadly they were all gone.
I actually think the video camera was a pretty excellent gift on its own ;)
I love carrot cake with cream cheese icing….I have to say, it was delicious.
I even splurged and had a can of Coke today as well ;)
