May's Tag...just in the nick of time

I finally got around to making my tag for May.
Nothing like waiting until the last minute....a true procrastinator I am ;)

I bought these bright orange butterflies from the dollar store, toned them down with distress markers.
See my tiny butterfly charm? I added alcohol inks as it was a shiny gold.
Lots of rub-ons here. The flowers, vines and the "happiness" are all rub-ons the rest are stamps.

So let me share with you how I did this.
One of Tim's techniques this month was to use rub-ons.
I went to Michaels and only found one of his sets and it was just words.
And honestly...they cost to much, so I just used what I had.

So I took my tag, found my rub-ons and starting a rubbin ;)

The rub-ons are rubbed on ;)

For Tim's tag, he used his distress stains...which I don't have and don't plan to purchase as the prices are crazy here.
But I may get them next trip to the States, prices are so much better there for crafty goodies.

So what I did do was, I put ink on a slick sheet and spritzed some water on it.
Then I dragged my tag through the ink to pick the colour up.

See all the pretty colours :)

I then did some stamping.
Isn't that large butterfly stamp gorgeous.

There you have it, my May's tag.
I hope you all had a creative Thursday :)

Tracy :)

  1. Great job. You are becoming very inventive with your own product, since Tim's stuff seems to be so expensive in Canada!

  2. ooo... very pretty tag. You are so creative with making these look awesome!.

  3. I love that background, it's gorgeous! What's a slick sheet? I'm a little disappointed, I thought you would post this today, being that it's the 31st ;)

    1. I thought it was the end of the month, lol.
A slick sheet could be wax paper. I always reuse my xyron adhesive backs. I keep them after I use them for this type of purpose.
I don’t have one of those TH mats.

  4. Fabulous tag - love the colours and butterflies. Have a great weekend.

  5. Wow..your tag is gorgeous! I love how you swiped it through the spritzed ink..and those prices ARE CRAZY! Yikes.

If you have Netflix, you should check out Psych, it's pretty much full of awesomeness!
Glad to know we aren't the only ones who love to spend a day camped out on the couch watching episode after episode!! ;) :D

  6. Great idea with the slick (xyron) sheet I have the mat but I like your idea! You come up with amazing ideas, I've loved your storage solutions tfs x

  7. I love may even inspire me to try a tag soon.,

I have the grandkids arriving for sleepovers in a few minutes so will pop back tonight to catch up on your blog. I seem to all my visiting in one fell swoop these days.

They want to make cards...they have their images all coroured...some little people are slightly better than others and like to remind him...teehee.
So its dies and ribbon and maybe even some flowers added tonight and they will be transformed into cards!!!

  8. love the tag I might be inspired to do something similar love the colours!

  9. Your tag is beautiful. I think I may try this...won't turn out as nice as yours but I will try it!

Just read about your hauls at Michaels and Hobby Lobby. I am so excited for you...and envious. :)

Have a good Sunday and I cannot wait to see the rest of your haul!

  10. Wow, doing that gave great effect on the tag! Love the way it turned out!

  11. Your tag turned out fantastic! This was a fun tag to whip together. You keep squeaking these in! You're cutting it closer and closer
