Friday Night Scrapbooking
Tonight was Friday Night Scrapbooking and I actually made a card :)
I have been colouring images for my Christmas cards the last few Fridays, but tonight I actually made a card.
I think she turned out pretty cute.
She is a Pure Innocence Design and I coloured her up with my Copic markers and paper pieced her dress.
I popped the cloud up with some dimensionals.
Drew in the grass and did a bit of outlining with my black marker to mimic the grass drawings on the stamp to extent the grass.
Added some more pattern paper to the inside..and of course recipe/index cards for my message.
Onto My Day:
Today was a PD day for Kristy, so no school. Which means I got to sleep in ;)
I took Kristy out for lunch, just her and I. That doesn't happen very often, it was nice just the two of us going out.
Then we went to pick up her boyfriend Blake, as they had planned to do some baking (I am sure Kristy was doing the baking and Blake was the tester).
On our drive there, I got a text and asked Kristy to read it. It was from Wayne informing me that my girlfriends brothers funeral was today.
My girlfriend and her brother lived with us as I was growing up. Her dad and my dad worked the same job out of town, so they lived with us when our dad's went out of town. Then later her dad bought a place close to us.
We consider ourselves more like sisters then friends.
I had 45 minutes to get ready and go.
I have sadly been to a lot of funerals, but this one was just so touching to me.
He was only a year older then Wayne.
If your wondering why I didn't know about the funeral earlier, I don't read the newspaper. The last time I had read the paper, a baby was found in the trash bin, 2 teen boys were microwaving cats...so why the heck to I want to read that kind of stuff.
I know many are surprised that I am not up on the news.
I don't want to read or hear about these things. I know they happen, I'm not naive. But seriously, why do they have to focus on the negative things that happen in the world.
If there is a big catastrophe, my SIL lets me know ;)
Wouldn't it be wonderful if the news would just focus on the positives in the world...that would be news I would be willing to read or watch :)
I hope you all had a creative Friday :)
Tracy :)

What a sweet card! I'm with you on the news. I do watch at night and see it online but most of it, I can do without.
ReplyDeleteLovely card Tracey.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your friends loss.
Wonderful card Tracy, and agree with you on the news front, I very rarely watch the news. Sorry for your loss. Hugs, Karon.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your friend's loss. I listen to the national news but don't follow any local news - I have my Mother for that :-) Pretty card, I like the cloud popped up.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a fun weekend!
Sorry to hear about your loss. I completely agree about the news. There should be more positive stories to tell. Great card always love the way you colour the grass!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
That little girl is so adorable. Great card!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet card, Tracy! The cloud being popped up adds to it :)
ReplyDeleteWanted to add how sorry I am about your friend's brother. I'm sure she'll be comforted with you near by. Hugs to you!
Your card looks really sweet, I love the popped cloud, and the patterned paper inside.
ReplyDeleteI don't read/watch the news either. My hubby tells me if anything important happens. My trouble is an overactive imagination, when I read about bad stuff in the news I can picture it happening to us and it makes me worry worry worry until my head pounds. I like to be positive.
Sorry about your friend's brother. x
Nice card, Tracy.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your friend's brother.
I love that image, could never tire of a card with her on it :) I'm so sorry for your friend's loss.
ReplyDeleteHere, here, and Amen Sister. I would read the newspapers and watch the news programs if they weren't crammed with horrid stuff all the time.
ReplyDeleteYour cards are always so cute and sweet. This one is fantastic with that innocent face. Makes me think of my girls when they were little. I miss them :-(
Love you - Leslie
Sorry for your loss:(
ReplyDeleteYour card is lovely and your girl image is sweet and cute:):)
Your cake looks great too:):)

I sometimes do not want to hear how horrible the world is! I joke that I want to crawl back under my rock with my rose-coloured glasses.
ReplyDeletePure innocence images are darling- poopping up the cloud gives it some nice dimension!
She is so cute. I have to practice more with my Spectrum Noirs..I have some really cut Christmas stamps.
ReplyDeleteI love the gorgeous fall colors of your card! You always do a fantastic job with your Copics!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for the loss of your close semi-family member. That's so hard to hear when someone so young passes. And I've had so many funerals this year too - all young people.
I'm not one for reading the paper either, so I rarely know when anyone dies. My husband usually reads the obits on Sunday and will ask me if I knew of certain people that had passed from my old home town that's not far from here.
Pretty card, the little girl is just too cute.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about your friend's passing.
ReplyDeleteI hate reading the paper or watching the news. It is always so upsetting. Now I just look at Yahoo or CNN - because I can chose to read whatever I want! And I usually just chose to read the happy things.
The card is beautiful. That girl is one of my favorite stamps!
adorable card and I agree totally! There is enough "ish" in the world in our own lives, we don't need it slapped in our faces each day to start our day with coffee. I don't read the paper and rarely watch the news and if I do it is the weather. LOL
ReplyDeleteThat I want to know what is coming:)
