taking care of dad

I thought that I was going to be able to stay at home all day and create my paper bag mini album. HAHA ya right.
My dad phoned and needed groceries. When I brought him his groceries he was in pain. He broke his hip a little over a month ago, but that isn't the problem. He has severe rheumatoid arthritis. He is in pain every day but today I could tell was worse then average. So I stayed and made him dinner, cleaned up his apartment, and tried to make him comfy and make sure every thing was in reach so he could just relax. I hate to see him like this.

When I got home I worked on my paper bag mini album. I don't know who it is going to yet. But it is fun making it. Here are a few pictures. It is far from finished. I just started to add embelishments. I came to the realization that I shouldn't buy premade embelishments as I never use them, I make my own. I have to appoligize for the photo quality as my internet was down and I didn't have time to retake any pics.
I also figured out that I should have stamped before adding the paper to the bag. Less bumpy. I think that the stamping turned out fine though. I stamped the stem of the flower and then stamped on this flower.

I stamped the butterflies, then punched out a Martha Stewart butterfly and attached it to the stamped one. You can't tell by the photo but I only attached the body to the paper, so the wings stick up.
This is the last page. I thought it was the front of the book and stamped the tree upside down. Hubby said "Guess you have to make a new page." I didn't want to so I restamped it on the same paper then backed it with a darker blue. Actually I like it better.
Like they say A mistake is just a reason to be more creative. Well actually no one said this I made it up lol.

So far I really like it. I want to make one of every colour LOL. Hopefully I can stay home tomorrow and work on it.

Hope you had a relaxing Saturday.

  1. Sorry to hear your dad is not doing well - it is hard to see the people we care about in pain. Your album looks great so far - I love your color scheme!

  2. Love your project so far...

Also, I totally understand about your dad...my dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's awhile back and it's pretty rough to see him on his bad days. So nice that you were able to spend some extra time with him when he needed it.

    Hugs!
